When Maria Gianni is knocking on voters' doors, she's not bashful about telling people she is in the country illegally. She knows it's a risk to advertise to strangers that she's here illegally -- but one worth taking in what she sees as a crucial election.

The 42-year-old is one of dozens of volunteers -- many of them illegal immigrants -- canvassing neighborhoods in the Seattle area trying to get naturalized citizens to cast a ballot for candidates like Democratic Sen. Patty Murray, who is in a neck-to-neck race with Republican Dino Rossi.

Anyone else see a major problem with this news? Does this mean they are also going to be voting illegally? I recall another recent election in Washington state where the democrat candidate won, but interestingly there were more votes cast than there were registered voters.

I was reading this on the Drudge Report a bit ago. The absolute arrogance of these illegals is derived from the fact that our government is failing to enforce the law concerning illegal immigrants.

Every special interest group, and I mean evryone of them, are going to keep on and on, pushing the envelope, until there is nowhere else for them to push. And when this point in time comes, it's going to roll over them like a giant stean roller.

Patience and tolerance can only go so far.

What??

this is some major bs illegals can run around the neighbors with impunity advocating fora legal process(voting) and that process that they arent a part of by choice yeah i said choice hence the illegal part.

every legal citizen at least the majority of them obey that constitution and the laws of this land and THERE they are just running around just like everything is just peachy keen.

ice needs to go round up every last single one of them and send them back south of the border and the liberal democrats who thought this was a good ideal need to be fined and imprisoned for breaking the law aid and abetting known illegal activity.

yeah man i see major problems with this because this should not be happening period.

i am sick and tired of our laws mean nothing but just to get "their" votes
i am sick and tired of people being put above the law.

we have laws for a reason and they are meant to be enforced to the letter.

Not according to YOUR SOURCE!

Coming from San Antonio, where illegal aliens serve as poll workers (I've known several staunch Democratic party activists here illegally), I see this as just par for the course.

Frankly, who doesn't already know that illegal aliens play a large part in Democratic politics across the country?

Are Americans really that naive?

When illegals can work, go to school, attend church or get medical care with impunity, why are we so "shocked, shocked" that they volunteer for anything? Or support the people who want them to stay?

Why focus on political campaigns when the problem is the complacency with which their presence in every facet of our culture is accepted or ignored?

I have to admit my guilt, because my first wife's parents and extended family were illegal and un-assimilated. They owned businesses that employed other illegals as well as citizens, and most did very well for themselves without resorting to hand-outs and welfare (although many of their citizen children did not). So, although I can readily point out the failure of American society in addressing illegal immigration, my life was enriched by their presence in many ways.

Even so, illegal immigration is a serious problem for reasons other than the proverbial (and ephemeral) " drain on society." Give me a minute, and I'll think of one.

Deny ignorance.
(S and F, but I'm not sure why, exactly.)

In whose world is it okay for ILLEGALS to be doing ANYTHING out in the open let alone participate in our elections???
Can't someone do a citizen's arrest when these illegals come to their front door?
ILLEGAL is ILLEGAL correct?

oh here we go with the $5 a gallon orange juice...I would opt for the higher priced OJ if we could get rid of the illegals.
