"On Wednesday 20 October, Israeli settlers attacked a group of farmers from the Boreen village, in the southern Nablus district, who were working in their fields, harvesting the olive crop."

"In the very early hours of Wednesday, 20 October, settlers entered the girls’ school of the Assawiya village, south of Nablus. The settlers vandalized the building, damaging classrooms and breaking windows. They also completely burned the school’s storage building which contained various school supplies and unused athletic equipment. The headmaster of the school, Mayson Saalha said " This is not the first time the settlers attacked our school. Months ago they attacked it. This time they also wrote bad words on the walls of the classes, like ‘peace from the hill tops.’”

These settlers are terrorists and the IDF do little to stop them. There are half a million illegal settlers in the West Bank and to be fair the vast majority of the settlers have nothing to do with this type of behavior. But there is a militant faction that terrorizes the palestinian farmers every year at olive harvesting time and little is done to stop it. It is not only the olive groves but mosques and schools are also targets.
As I travel frequently to Tel Aviv on business I know the average Israeli would not condone these settler acts of terrorism. But the Israeli government seems to fear the settlers and rarely brings them to account.

Disgusting...

You're wrong about one thing though- The IDF doesn't have authority over Israeli citisens, it's the military, so saying the IDF does nothing about it is kind of misleading. There's nothing they can't do, other than call the police.

The police, on the other hand, is working against these people, as best they can, they stop them from rioting, they prevent them from exercising violence against Palestinians, etc..
But how would you catch a bunch of extremists setting out of some deserted 20 caravan settlement?

Unless someone tips the police off (which I don't think happens very often), it's really hard.
