Note: Please keep this thread nice and clean so that it stays within the T&C

In spiritual, psychological and physical terms (depending on your view of reality) sexual energy is a major driving force, life force, creative force. You can manipulate people with it. You can create life with it. You can experience great joy with it. You can channel it into creative endeavors.

In my view most of the world is being kept in darkness about this energy-form. Humanity is somewhat deprived of the energies full benefits in two ways:

1. Suppression

Whether you're in prudish America or in Muslim countries it is today still a Taboo to fully express or show sexuality and nudity. It is apparently no problem to show Violence on TV 24/7, but when it comes to nudity everyone suddenly gets tense. This is due to religious conditioning and associating the energy with shame and guilt. Those who need a woman to wear a Burkah are subconsciously afraid of sexual energy.

2. Waste

The other extreme is a waste of sexual-energy by incessant bombardment with erotica. Nowadays porn is apparently readily available for free at any time through the Internet. According to both the ancient Taoists and Buddhists, too much Masturbation actually lessens ones vitality, strength and zest. This is why some Sportspeople do not have Sex before big games. This is why some musicians say they sometimes take breaks from Sex in order to heighten their creativity. According to some Hindu Beliefs, the energy not used for Sex travels up the "chakras" into the head so that it can be used for Creativity.

Overexposure to virtual Sex lessens ones experience and appreciation of real sex with a real life person. In addition porn creates a completely uncreative and misogynist vision of what Sex is supposedly like.

Caught between waste of sexual energy and suppression of sexual energy a human being rarely gets to explore its true power and significance throughout a lifetime.

The fact that a thread like this may bring up infantile jokes and giggles rather than in-depth discussion is indicative of an entirely normal and natural topic having been suppressed and associated with shame or "uncleanness". The fact that science doesnt even acknowledge that there is such a thing as sexual energy or life-force shows just how far away we are from the obvious.

If one were to purposefully keep the flower from growing, surely their first plan would be to obscure its root.

The Muladhara Conspiracy has a nice ring to it ... though I suspect like most conspiracies it is more self inflicted than by plan.

Great thought and thread sky.

I wouldn't say sexual energy is that special.
In Bhakti-yoga it is just one energy to use to devote to Krishna.
So a very sensual Godhead makes it easier to direct animalistic desires into devotion.
The mundane pleasure of 'sex' is so short-lived and inferior to what we can have with our true spiritual bodies.
That pleasure that keeps us in maya/illusion can also be re-directed as a bridge, or connection to Godhead.
It can become devotion.

Otherwise our trivial world worries more about male vs. female sexuality as opposed energies.
But that's just magick and using sexuality to create a spark.
The age of male dominant sexuality is almost passing.
Neither extreme is good.
Balance is good.

Maybe so. There are certainly higher energies up there. But in regards to normal society, sexual energy is one of the most sought after.

Sexual Energy

With apologies, Skyfloating...would you clarify your intent for this thread? You're not asking questions, and you're not really offering much perspective...you mostly seem to be making some casual observations about society.

Yes, nudity is taboo is some places. Yes, porn is readily available on the internet. Yes, some Taoists and Buddhists assert that too much masturbation may lesson vitality...much of what you say might be true...

...but what are you suggesting? That we should all mellow out? Ok, yeah, I have no problem with that.

a thread like this may bring up infantile jokes and giggles rather than in-depth discussion

What exactly is it you want to have an in-depth discussion about?

tantric sex is good, (from what I hear) I believe it is one of the many lost arts. Our ancestors probably got down way better than we could ever imagine. Our sexual energy is much like the ocean waves, it is connected to everything, and it is all around us, constantly happening, filling the air, life and death was built on sex, that's just a fact. I believe those in control realize that it also serves their dark empire to block out our sexual energy, only to let it show up in our corrupted language as innuendos on Monday night football, they know what they are doing. Sex is Fire, Sex is Lightening, Sex is Magick too. Do not doubt its power, The Ancients Know of its power, and the spells they cast with Sex are still in effect today.

The Maya knew about sex magic, oh, and you better believe The Egyptians did too. Yeah, our soul can experience far greater than a fleeting orgasm, but every chakra has it's place and purpose, they are all important, and it is my personal opinion that I believe we have been conditioned to reverse our energy flow. Instead of pouring our spirit and potential out through our Third Eye/Pineal Gland, we instead are building up and burning our Soul Life Force through our lower chakra.

I promised myself that I wouldn't bring up the paranormal or reptillians in this post, but, honestly, I believe the movie "They Live" was telling more than most of us would like to believe, and I truly do feel that Human Beings have Godly/Universal/Starlight manifest bodies intended to create energy from essentially "nothing" and manifest that energy into the realm/world/density around/outside of us. Something or Someone is purposefully indoctrinating us, and preventing us from letting our energies flow as Our Heavenly Bodies desire.

Honestly, don't call me a nut, I am just leading you to a puddle, I never said it was water, it's up to you to figure that part out.

Sex Magic is a term for various types of sexual activity used in magical, ritualistic or otherwise religious and spiritual pursuits. One practice of sex magic is using the energy of sexual arousal or orgasm with visualization of a desired result. A premise of sex magic is the concept that sexual energy is a potent force that can be harnessed to transcend one's normally perceived reality.

I blame Sigmund Freud. lol.

Things were unhealthy enough until he came along with all his neurasthenias and anxious disorders, which he associated all-- and more-- with sex. People believed all his sexual theories for a very long time.

The significance of sex was given a paramount role in our very character, our very essence, as though the course of our very souls depended on it, rather than being designated as the simple normal human drive which it is; the significance of which is blown way out of context to what it actually is.

imo.

I came across the exact same idea in the writing of Nietzsche a few nights ago. Nietzsche, a man from the late 19th century, observed the same problem, so clearly it's no new problem.

"There it is said, for example, with particular reference to sexuality: "If thy eye offend thee, pluck it out." Fortunately, no Christian acts in accordance with this precept. Destroying the passions and cravings, merely as a preventive measure against their stupidity and the unpleasant consequences of this stupidity - today this itself strikes us as merely another acute form of stupidity. We no longer admire dentists who "pluck out" teeth so that they will not hurt any more."
-Friedrich Nietzsche, Morality as Anti-Nature

He suggests it has a lot to do with widespread religion suppressing the desire for sex instead of people following and channeling their sexual energies in a positive manner.

"The church fights passion with excision in every sense: its practice, its 'cure,' is castratism. It never asks: 'How can one spiritualize, beautify, deify a craving?' It has at all times laid the stress of discipline on extirpation (of sensuality, of pride, of the lust to rule, of avarice, of vengefulness). But an attack on the roots of passion means an attack on the roots of life: the practice of the church is hostile to life."
-Friedrich Nietzsche, Morality as Anti-Nature

He says Christianity condemns the strong in spirit, while it glorifies the weak-spirited people who are too weak-willed to act on their spiritual energies. He describes spiritual energy as a type of energy that is born out of passion, with love being the spiritualization of sensuality.

"All passions have a phase when they are merely disastrous, when they drag down their victim with the weight of stupidity -- and a later, very much later phase when they wed the spirit, when they 'spiritualize' themselves."
-Friedrich Nietzsche, Morality as Anti-Nature

So what does this mean for us?

Well first of all, it means you, Skyfloating, are on the same intellectual level as Nietzsche, one of the great thinkers of all time.

Second, considering the church is becoming considerably weaker in this country, there should soon be a subsequent increase in the expression of raw passion, which eventually will give way to a new found spiritual energy. This increase in raw passion, as you said, unfortunately is often funneled into passive ways of expression like watching pornography. So while the expression of raw passion is technically increasing, the spiritualization of this passion is not happening because the raw passion is expressed passively. This is because passion expressed passively only leads to a greater suppression of passion in public. The immature expression of passion which is looked down on, on the other hand, is what eventually leads to the more mature spiritualization of sexuality and sensuality, love.

By an immature expression of passion, I don't necessarily mean you go out and sexually assault the first attractive woman you find. You can express sexual passion in a non-sexual way, for example through writing or music or dancing. In today's culture, I'm sure you have noticed as I have an increasingly sexualized view of society. According to Nietzsche, this is not necessarily bad, as eventually our society should evolve into one with a more mature spiritual energy.

...I think this might be slightly misrepresenting what sex is. Perhaps "sex energy" can be used to "perform magic" but it seems a peculiar way of looking at it. So peculiar that I've been sitting here for over five minutes trying to come up with an analogy, and I haven't been able to come up with one.

Ok. But then why perceive it as sexual energy if it is not constrained to that form? If it is energy that may be expressed in writing, or music, or in love, or intellectual thoughts, or sex...isn't it energy, rather than "sexual" energy? Isn't the "sexual" part just one totally arbitrary expression of that energy?

I know you didn't address this to me, sorry, but I wanted to ask you to consider the sexuality inherent in some art, music, and dance. See? The making of movies. Art. Passion. Sexual energy.

It can be transferred to other outlets for expression, or..........it can be transferred to other outlets for oppression.

imho.

I don't know exactly what you're getting at, I'm saying sexual energy is energy spent while sexually aroused... So instead of watching porn when I'm horny I get my creative brain cells working and write a story about a sexual fantasy, or I go and write a song about how much I want this girl, or I run to her house in the rain to tell her that I want her in the hopes of having sex with her.

Ok. But the electricity you use in the light bulbs in your house can be tranferred to be used by your computer. Does it make sense to think of that electricity as "light bulb electricity?"

sexual energy is energy spent while sexually aroused

Ok. And if you use that energy instead to write a poem, it's then "creative energy." Or if you vent it on a punching bag it's "physical energy." The "sexual" part is merely expression. It's not "sexual energy" any more than electricity being used by your computer is "light bulb electricity."

For what it may be worth and if one can discard the guru nonsense, there is actually something to this which may or may not warrant further inquiry: www.selfgrowth.com...

Though, somehow I suspect you already know this.

And to answer you earlier question about what may be the 'intent' of this thread ... with skyfloating I find that this awareness is always useful:

They say that what we know is not worth knowing, and what's worth knowing cannot be known through our ways. To our sensible selves, their actions seem silly, shameless, even shocking. But they have an important role in the spiritual life. They carry the banner for the spiritual practice of play.

Play is the exuberant expression of our being. It is at the heart of our creativity, our sexuality, and our most carefree moments of devotion. It helps us live with absurdity, paradox, and mystery. It feeds our joy and wonder. It keeps our search for meaning down to earth.

Practice play by doing things on the spur of the moment. Take time out to experiment, to try on different parts, to relax. Laugh heartily at jokes, situations, and yourself. Remember, laughter heals body, mind, and soul, and by extension, communities. www.spiritualityandpractice.com...

He likes to play ...

I don't understand how one can read words on a flat screen full of pixels, they're not words its just 0's and 1's. But really, people have imaginations and I could "get off" to a hot porno better than an obese real woman. Couldn't anyone in that situation. Some food for thought

There might be something to this.

I could definitely see a problem arising from an oversaturation of sensual visual stimuli without regards to the deeper humanistic equation (i.e the heart, soul and mind to mind interaction of consumation with a real person).

Sexual relations have never be "easy" for a large percentage of people to begin with, and it's highly probable that by reinforcing only ONE aspect (visual) in favor of other factors will have a devestating effect in the long term.

Time wil tell...

(assuming of course, that the alien invasion doesn't consist entirely of sexy drones who lure prospective conquests in with beauty and guille, only to bite the heads off their mates after the act of consumation is achieved.)

Seriously, though....time will tell.

GOOD.

In fact, sex causes most wars and violence.

The problem is, people are not educated on sacred forms of sexual practice like tantra and karezza. Normal ordinary ejaculatory sex causes depletion, chaotic dopamine cycling, habituation to the partner, not to mention satiation. ie the coolidge effect.

Not only that.. polygyny and harem culture is all based on this and the idea of competitive lack. Ie, we are kept in a constant struggle. When we were just monkeys (or we might have been even BEYOND this even at the homo-erectus level), we had to fight each other for our woman. Because of scarce resources and ignorance. or rather, just ignorance. Resources were not scarce. Tribes were meant to keep us together. It's knowledge that was scarce. Anyway, that leads to the whole good guy vs badboy thing. Women THINK they want the most brutal the most meanest of men, who are labelled "alpha" by the women and the rest are "beta."

Endless wars. Endless passionate wars.

THE EVIL POWERS THAT BE MANIPULATE PEOPLE BY MAKING THEM BELIEVE IN LACK, which makes way for endless wars, and creates the vicious cycle that I'm speaking of. Making man turn again his own kind. IN FEAR, IN PAIN AND SUFFERING. FEAR based sexuality.

READ about companionate vs passionate/romantic vs CONSUMATE love which has the foundational companionate type love with passion mixed in, but NOT to an excess.

Excess passion causes depletion and dopamine cycling. Aka the HAPPINESS TRAP. CRAVING.

Buddhist teachings tell us craving leads to suffering.

but IN AMERICA, ROMANTIC LOVE AKA PASSIONATE LOVE is the norm. It is based on FEAR AND CRAVING. ON PAIN.

AND IT CAUSES MORE PAIN. MORE WARS. MORE SUFFERING. MORE IGNORANCE.

THIS IS THE GRAND PICTURE.

THE UNCLEAN PICTURES YOU SEE TV, SHOWING WOMEN IN PERVERSE POSITIONS.

It is "normal" to be bad, it is "normal" to do wrong. MANY things which are wrong and deviant in this society are NORMAL, and in fact seen as GOOD and HARMLESS, in fact FUN even.

I'm not necessarily judging out of insecurity or lack. It's just SAD to see humanity the way it is.
