Nice picture, but you can see he is holding it differently, more like pushing it into the side of his face rather than holding it like a phone. If you are hard of hearing this makes sense, you would want that thing as close to your ear as possible, phones, not so much. The lady must hear pretty good to have it that far away, if she has one, I cant tell.

Charlie Chaplin's daughter-in-law was a REAL time traveler. She claims to have been initiated into a time traveling, Kabbalistic secret society in southern Spain and to have passed through an activated portal (called "hekhal" in Kabbalah) on the top of Mount Canigou into the past. This was the great secret behind the mystery of the church at Rennes-le-Chateau and why its priest Berenger Sauniere suddenly become very wealthy. Believe it or not there is supposed to be another of these in NJ.
Check out this thread and the bottom links to another ATS thread already posted. There were a townful credible witnesses to many strange UFO sightings in the area. While I was looking for more information found the ATS thread referring to a portal there somewhere near Wanaque. Things seem to have been covered up nicely after that - since we heard little more about it. Great sci-fi stuff, true or not!

One question I wonder,

If this were a time traveller, then he/she would be coming from our present time, say late 90's to present time frame, as we all know electronics move forward and develop quickier than the last made batch leave the shelves, by doing a simple google images search of 'Future Of Mobile Phones' we can see that these devices advance & will mutate into smaller & smaller devices, who's to say mobile phones wont be all made as wrist watches or other tiny components meaning this particular traveller had to of come or visited the recent times we live in, what im saying is everything like this always get related to our present time, Why could the traveller not be from 22nd or 23rd century is which case no-one knows what shape or form a mobile phone will be

They *may* get smaller, or change shape - however - I think that there has to be an ideal size & shape for comfortable use. Too small would make them difficult and fiddly for many people for example, especially those of us who are a bit older. I think that what we have right now is probably ok for most people. I have stuck with a phone that is slightly bigger than what most have now cos I find it easier to handle. So I don't think we can assume that they will definitely get smaller, the industry may find that most of its customers prefer a certain size and pretty much stick with that for most of their products. So, a future time-traveller could easily have a device of a size and shape similar to what we have now simply because people find that that is the best design for ease of use.

If I were sending someone back in time, I would equip them with communication devices. I would send more than one person and it would probably be a military experiment. I would need documented proof it worked....I would want it captured somehow from that time period to show this really happened. You can't argue historic film documentation.
question is...did these people come back or were they on a one way trip?

Her mouth is definitely moving. She is certainly talking...and before the film fades...she almost looks like she has a smirk on her face. She might very well know something everyone else (at that time) doesn't know!

My take, and sorry for the drive by but this thread is huge, so if it's been posted then tally this as an agreement with said prior take:

The person doesn't "disappear", it is just a fade. The reason the person appears to fade differently is due to the contrast difference in the fading out frame objects playing with your eyes in regards to the fading in frames, primarily with the zebra's brightness, but the dark background assists also since the fading in frames just happen to land where they do. (or maybe they even noticed that optical effect and worked to maximize it with multiple fade experiments)

There is definitely a device in the hand, and they appear to be rambling or talking into said device. I say it was a genius prop / piece. We too quickly forget that the science of today was most often envisioned long before its fabrication as science fiction, and usually also science ridicule.

I don't know... seems like a far leap to say time traveler and why wouldn't a set director or an actor or anyone be like "Excuse me sir/madam, but could you leave the area we are trying to shoot a moving picture. By the way what are you speaking into?

I'd like to see the original movie. Does it seem very likley that Chaplin would film this guy talking on a strange device and nobody would inquire what he was doing? Wouldn't even be curious?
Something fishy here.

Maybe it's not a cell phone. But a handheld transceiver (walkie-talkie). Walkie-talkies weren't invented until World War II, and even then, they looked like this

Or maybe it communicates into the future somehow with people at the other end. I'm going to go with it is a futuristic style walkie talkie thing used just for the purpose of communicating with other time travelers while in the past (because there's no cell phone service)
