I know a bunch of fake bars have been found circulating, and there are many rumors that there's nothing in fort knox. If they found that there was no gold, what would happen exactly?

I am pretty sure the governmental gold reserves are stored there, this is different then the gold you see on TV used to make unofficial gold coins

Ft Knox is not the basis for any economic indicators. If Ft Knox turned out to be empty, which it probably isn't, then it would only mean that the gold had been moved elsewhere.
