This has gotten out of hand! I'm serious here! I can't stand the Patriot Act! I can't stand how our government can let people die and or suffer in life! I distaste it! It's unfortunate that I'm not a leader in the UN! If I was I would of spoke out against this crooked government! I hate it! Sorry for the ranting. I just hate it! anyone agree here or what!?

The oppressed are allowed once every few years to decide which particular representatives of the oppressing class are to represent and repress them- Karl Marx

No one will realize what is around the corner until it smacks them in the face, by then it will be too late.

I agree with that quote. Even though I'm not a Communist or a Socialist. I do like a lot of their ideals.
My friends are Socialist and they have an awesome book describing America Democracy today.

So your answer to controlling corrupt political power in America is to hand over the reigns to corrupt political powers from other nations???

We, as Americans, don't give power to the government. We ARE the government. And I, for one, would load my gun and open fire on any outside military force that was given to trying to take my country.

The streets would run knee deep in blood before the UN would ever have governance over this nation.

Unless they politely ask you to give up your guns so everyone can be safe

we don't give power to the government we chose candidates on the basis of what they say they stand for and will do in office. Then they get in power and do the opposite and whore themselves to special interests.

the message being ; we just aren't that special

I think the American Republic system itself is fundamentally sound, but the political process has bee hijacked by two parties that are more interested overall in gaining power than in actually making positive change.

What I do not understand is why the American people buy into this idea that there are only two sides to the argument? Why have third parties failed to gain popular support? Why is your system not more like ours in at least the plurality of parties to choose from?

Because the majority of Americans are no different than a majority of other humans; we're gullible, naive and overall pretty #ing stupid sometimes. We happen to have become particularly lazy on top of that.

I agree with this post our government is crooked is many ways but really is that any surprised. People in general are corrupt and the national and state governments are made of people. So the real trick according to Madison is not to get the government to govern the people but to get the government to govern it self thus check and balances. We especially went wrong with the Patriot Act giving the Executive Branch way too much power and creating an instability with the Legislative and Judicial Branches. Since then both Republicans and Democrats have been building up on that and taking away the progress made with devolution since 1937.
