what i admit to is the intent of the attack its just as important as the word choice...

the feeling and emotions and motivation behind any word.....its the word used but whats behind it as well......

to get what im saying here is when people drop the f bomb a single word in todays world has many different meanings..............its how it is used.

EXACTLY. Oh .. and I used to love the blue slurpees too. They were my favorite!!

I have never heard of drinking slurpees being a stereo type for ANY race. Where did you get that from?

So because YOU haven't heard it before, it must not be a stereotype used? OOOOOOOOKAY.

He's playing up the lazy fat republican dudes sitting, drinking their cool drinks, fanning themselves ... as those they consider beneath them toil away .... It's there.

With all due respect you are the one coming across as racist here.

Point out the class warfare Obama is pulling and supposedly I'm the one who is racist.
Again ... OOOOOOKAY.

Why are you assuming that he is talking about only the white replublicans???

Read the thread. That's already come up.
He is painting the picture of the old lazy white guy sitting on the porch of his antibellum home while he, the black guy, and the worker-friendly party, does the work.
He's reinforcing the (wrong) notion that republicans are lazy white men who live off the backs of the work of the hard working (and diverse) democrats.

Are you under the impression that all republicans are white?

Don't be stupid.

NO ONE is playing the racecard here.... Well, you are... but the president is not.

Wrong .. on all three statements.
He is playing the class warfare card. He is using the imagry. It's there.

I'm not saying you are wrong, but I want to have an INTELLIGENT conversation here about the topic.

So could you point me to a place that defines "Slurpee Sipper" as a racial term?

That seems to be a major hinge to your argument, so please provide a bit of evidence to this term being racists and then we can have a conversation. I get the "sitting around fanning themselves." That is an obvious call to a different time. But slurpees? Come on.

That is...unless you just wish to further divide us? Because honestly, this is what it seems like you are saying: "Obama bad, Obama evil. Obama hate republicans."

And your comment asking if it matters what the Republican's plan is: IT DOES. Because they are sitting around saying this is bad, that is bad. But i have yet to see a solution.

And before you start in that I'm just one of those leftist, I'm not. I'm tired of these diversionary tactics. It's sad, it's immature, it's bush league, and it's ruining any chance at real, honest to the god of your choice political discussion.

If you don't want to answer my questions, at least be smart and don't let them play you. You got played. Hardcore. He made these comments, you took the bait and are now discussing his supposed racial term instead of the real topics.

ps...there is a difference between race card and class card. Not all poor people are the same color.

So because YOU haven't heard it, that means it isn't so? Um ... no.

Um... yea, obviously it wasn't meant in a racist way.

You betchya. But that's not the stereotype, is it?
If the dems were really working that hard, they could have gotten their job done. They are a majority. He's just whining and pushing off the blame onto the republicans.

This constant BS line from the right. "boo hoo, the Democrats are a majority, everyone in congress ALWAYS votes along party lines wah wah boo hoo they should be able to pass anything because no one in congress has their own brain in their heads boo hoo wah wah"
what a total load.

Exactly. That means the dems are the ones not working .. not pushing their car ... (according to the visualization Obama used). He blamed Republicans for standing around and not pushing the car. But if the dems really wanted Obama's useless gas guzzling piece of crap pushed up the hill, THEY would have been able to do it. Instead, Obama blames the republicans. Unbelievable!

Because the GOP are working together to try and block ANYTHING that might help get this economy back on track, because they want the economy to do badly so that people will vote the Democrats out of office, it's been their strategy this entire time.

Pushing a dead piece of crap that is unsustainable is wrong. Gotta' have a new model that can actually run. Pushing something unsustainable is just plain wrong. And Obama, being derogatory towards people who don't want to push his useless (worse than useless) piece of machinery up the hill ... that's

So, you would welcome the Amero and the North American Union then?

Well, does it matter? The point is that Obama's 'plan' sucks. His spending sucks. His programs are unsustainable. You don't embrace those things that you know are wrong and bad just because there isn't another game in town. That's absurd.

Well, let's see the GOP plan then? Oh that's right, there is no plan, the GOP doesn't want to help fix the economy, they just want the Democrats plan to fail. I see.

The original TEA Party plan ... Quit spending what we don't have. Don't have programs we can't afford.
It's just that simple.

And apparently don't help businesses create jobs. Because making sure that businesses don't create jobs is part of the TEA Party platform.

ethnic
cultural: denoting or deriving from or distinctive of the ways of living built up by a group of people; "influenced by ethnic and cultural ties"-

An ethnic group is a group of people whose members identify with each other, through a common heritage that is real or assumed- sharing cultural characteristicsSmith 1987 This shared heritage may be based upon putative common ancestry, history, kinship, religion, language, shared territory -

an ethnic quality or affiliation resulting from racial or cultural ties

of or relating to a sizable group of people sharing a common and distinctive racial, national, religious, linguistic, or cultural heritage, People, Tribes

slur

To talk about disparagingly or insultingly.

race card yeah there are white, hispanic, african american, vietnamese and other minorties in the republican party..

and any attempt to deem a person or a group of people that seek to diminish their characters is well..........racist

so the ops opinion on the "slurrpee" as a racial overtone is a valid one...acutally one could go on to further concluded that he is indeed a bigot and so is the left for teir intolerance and predudices towards a minority group of individuals in this country..........

DUUUURRRR!

I watched the video of Biden putting his foot all the way down his throat -

However it doesn't further the case that "Slurpee" is racist anti white comment as you assert

Your logic requires a hefty helping of stupidity, no doubt it is intended to belittle the GOP, but not in the racial manner you have fabricated.

All you are doing is adding more fuel for more racism

First time I've ever heard of "slurpee sipper" being racist. Never even heard of it before. People drink slurpees. I think he takes to mean that republicans sit idly by and laze about drinking slurpees. Not that I agree with that sentiment, as both parties do the same thing. You know, slothin' about while the country burns and the constituents cry for help.. that sort of thing, ya know?

But to conflate it with racism?
Grow up, what utter trash.

Given the actual definition of the word Bigot, one actually COULD conclude that Obama's remarks were bigoted. It would be perfectly reasonable to say that the slurpee remark was a bigoted one.

Really?

(geeez this is probably going to get me killed)

You guys missed the president's whole point. Substitute lemonade or mint julep for Slurpee and you've got your proverbial black man toiling away in the fields while his white masters sit by & say he's not working fast enough, too slow, etc. It's about mindset & mindset is a filter for everything. That's where the whole racism/ bigotry thing- if we go on like this *another* 50 or 500 years, will never, ever die. I'm sorry, but there are factions in this country (& worldwide) who run their victimhood into the ground SO deep, we haven't seen hide nor hair of it years.
How much sympathy & restitution do they need before they get over it & move ON?

Koolaid, fried chicken & watermelon don't go together, btw. It's Miller Hi Life or iced tea, though I imagine that- for President & Madame Obama, it's Chivas.

For cripes sake

I think there is a whole lot of projection going on -

I think this is a cigar and you all are thinking pecker

Could it be your mindset is the actual filter???

I know FF, it is certain in her case

1 - What if a Republican had said that Obama was too busy drinking koolaid and eating watermelon to get the job done? If 'drinking koolaid and eating watermelon' have race/class implications, then so does his continual use of 'drinking a slurpee and fanning themselves'. Lazy white folks .... drinking cool drinks ... Obama is sweating and working away. Subtle (or not) ... definately there. Subliminal. (or obvious).

As far as I know, slurpee's aren't related to stereotypical white culture.
My thought is that the analogy is meant as described. Hard working democrats and republicans not willing to lend a hand.

2 - If the dems were really working that hard, they could have gotten their job done. They are a majority. He's just whining.

They can't push the car anywhere if the republicans are pushing on the other end. Which they are !

3 - Perhaps the job they are doing isn't worth all their 'effort'. To use Obama's OVERUSED picture ... they are pushing a DEAD car and need a new one. Why bother pushing a dead, useless, gas guzzling car? It doesn't work and it's a burden. Get a new one that actually works and is SUSTAINABLE.

The only reason it's still dead is that the republicans refuse to help bring it back to life. Look at what's happening right now. The republicans are putting road block after road block to prevent democrats from getting anything done. The republicans don't care about the country at all, only their super rich handlers.

as much as i believe obama is probably a closet racist and would love to see the 'smoking gun,' i just simply can't see what about this quote is racist. he's painting a picture of a mom and dad pushing a car out of a ditch while the lazy kids sit around playing their game boy and slurping on their drinks.

shouldn't we be spending our time bashing this quote for obama painting himself as a hard worker when in fact he's played more golf already then bush did in 8 years. or how about the fact that obama's policies have failed to have their intended affect and he's some how blaming the other party for the economy not working?

i'm starting to think that these attacks on the gop are actually obama's cry for help. it seems like he's saying PLEASE HELP ME! PLEASE GIVE ME IDEAS! I'M RUNNING OUT OF STEAM HERE!

otherwise why would such a legislatively successful president be spending so much time bashing the other party. unless of course he's just blind to the fact that he is a human being who's ideas can fail.
