To hear President Obama tell it, Slurpees are the beverage of choice of obstructionist Republicans.
In each of 20 political speeches over the last two months, Mr. Obama has included a riff in which he portrays GOP leaders as sipping Slurpees while hard-working Democrats struggle to pull the economy out of a ditch.
"We're down there. It's hot. We were sweating. Bugs everywhere. We're down there pushing, pushing, pushing on the car. Every once in a while we'd look up and see the Republicans standing there. They're just standing there fanning themselves -- sipping on a Slurpee."
1 - What if a Republican had said that Obama was too busy drinking koolaid and eating watermelon to get the job done? If 'drinking koolaid and eating watermelon' have race/class implications, then so does his continual use of 'drinking a slurpee and fanning themselves'. Lazy white folks .... drinking cool drinks ... Obama is sweating and working away. Subtle (or not) ... definately there. Subliminal. (or obvious).
2 - If the dems were really working that hard, they could have gotten their job done. They are a majority. He's just whining.
3 - Perhaps the job they are doing isn't worth all their 'effort'. To use Obama's OVERUSED picture ... they are pushing a DEAD car and need a new one. Why bother pushing a dead, useless, gas guzzling car? It doesn't work and it's a burden. Get a new one that actually works and is SUSTAINABLE.
4 - Is this rhetoric hope and change enough for ya'll yet?
This isn't a double standard. Slurpees have no racial connotations at all whatsoever. To say otherwise is just downright idiotic.

S&F for you...yup the double standard in the media never fails to amaze me, and as you said if someone said that about Obama yup we'd have every idiot in the world commenting in it. Of course racism only applies if your not white according to some on here so no doubt they'll be here shortly spewing nonsense again. as a side note, I do like Slurpees, but only the origional coke ones.

Well this would be the FIRST time I would have ever heard Slurpies being used in a race/class way.
Besides aren't there black Republicans?
Except that even though the democrats are in power, they don't always vote together.
Except that car is our economy,
Well, what is the GOP plan?
