This is a truly amazing video of nature in all her fury and glory as this daredevil descends into the mouth of Ambrym Island’s Marum Volcano.

Geoff Mackley stands closer to this raging inferno than I think I would want to come.

Years ago I spend some time in the caldera of Kilauea on the Big Island of Hawaii, about 10 years after it had last erupted through its top. Even after 10 years the ground of solidified jagged volcanic rock steamed with radiant heat, and there were a number of fissures in the vast caldera that allowed a peek down to molten red rock bellow.

I thought that was kind of dicey.

This video though borders more on insane.

I hope you all enjoy.

(Oct. 5) -- Into the volcano, cameras rolling.

That's the position that volcanologist Geoff Mackley and his crew of filmmakers were in when they descended into the heart of Ambrym Island's Marum Volcano last month, capturing mind-boggling footage of Mackley's proximity to the boiling lava.

I suppose it's possible we have a reynolds wrap fetishist on our hands there.

What extent people will go through to play dress up!

I have to say it would take some real courage to climb down those ropes.

Anakin....oh, you must mean Manakin Skywalker. Yea his stiff acting made me sigh with relief
when he got the lava bath.

Good find and video, it more then borders on insane in my opinion, I would feel safe maybe 5000 miles away. It is awesome what mother nature displays, now I call that power. I have been to Hawaii but wasn't interested in getting to close, from a distance was still amazing to see.

Was it really stiff acting though or was his rigid up bringing to a Jedi Knight's disciplined ways causing his charachter to be overly formal and reserved?

I wonder! The lava lake was awesome though.

You can tell though looking at this video how different the real thing looks as compared to even great special effects.

I wonder what that roar would sound like in person?

I would like to agree, but he wasnt brought up by Jedi in his other movies lol...
Just sayin.

Also, what you said about the SFX with the lava and the real thing is night and day...nature is too awesome.

Wow he did other movies? Harrison Ford he is not! I thought he had the brooding, self introverted, potentially seducible by evil thing down pat though.

There really are no substitutes for nature are there?

Yeah the high def in THX surround sound would be awesome.

The roar alone is really what struck me. Kind of reminded me of Niagra falls.

If I run across a high-def version I will be sure to post it.

Thanks for posting.
