Germany Plays Down Terror Threat

BERLIN—A senior German official played down warnings of a potential terrorist attack in Europe, as Pakistani intelligence officials told reporters a U.S. missile strike in northwest Pakistan reportedly killed several suspected German militants.

U.S. and German officials said they couldn't confirm reports of the deaths.

Earlier on Monday, German Interior Minister Thomas de Maizière said that despite a U.S. travel alert issued this weekend, German police and intelligence services have no "concrete evidence" that a terror attack is imminent.

From what I have heard on this issue, which is not much, Al Queda is the group behind the threat. Someone such as myself may believe that Al Queda is a CIA/American creation. This threat was bogus to begin with. IMO anyway. So I am not surprised that Germany played it down.

Actually, Canada also played it down. The news this morning told us that people should be alert, the threat warning "severe" level has been that way for months now, and no threats were imminent. They are expecting something, maybe soon, maybe not. Nothing imminent. They said to just pay attention to your surroundings, stay away from crowds if possible.

Its a sign that the US intel community is loosing it's credability as an authoritive entity in the world. With more and more nations downplaying and discounting what the US says about any given issue. This started when the Dept. of Homeland Security was formed and it's manner of issuing warnings on the basis of actually very little information let alone being verified became the norm. Not to forget to mention that the current administration has no respect in the world and most Americans view this adminsitration as a token type elected in a hurry to get out of war. One day in the future hopefully, we'll have a strong president who can help put America back at the top in the world view where she belongs.

I read a credible thread that the terror alert is just a cover for the protesters that are, have and might march protesting the dismal economic conditions in the E.U, that tptb have created because of greed and other things....serves them right.
