i have great respect for your service and thank you for the sacrifices you have made. i was going by what was on the signs held up by the protestors. i had friends killed in the vietnam war, and one that came back forever changed for the worst. america lost over 50,000 lives in that war, please tell me how that war was neccessary for our freedoms. my father was in the korean war, and at the time of the vietnam war, he said that if my number came up, he would take me to canada...why? the vietnam war was about wealth and resources, not about the safety of our country.

maybe when you get to my age, you'll look back on the iraq war with the same conclusion.

Anything is child abuse if you don't agree with the parents.

I saw parents having their children hold signs at tea parties, but it didn't bother me.
Does not bother me here either. There's been so much propaganda about socialism, that I doubt anyone really knows what it is.

Its just one of those words now that means nothing and evokes a reaction of fear to most right wingers. I don't know what it does to a majority of left wingers.. But I've met left wingers, and plenty of them that don't want a socialist government.

Infact, I've never met an American who favors a socialist based system. I know they're out there. But as this thread shows, it's pretty clear they are an extreme minority.

I don't truly believe either one is better.. As theres a lot of the tea partiers that seemed to believe that religion should be pushed into government. Which under a mob rule, would lead to a theocracy.. and then eventually we need another real tea party.. Which is just how I see things. I could easily be wrong. I'm just depressed by what the tea party warped into.

I don't support a fully socialist system.. Some elements work. A lot don't. Nothing is perfect.
