Good call man, a fruitful thread it is to be. I look forward to the prospering of it
. Great idea !

'nueromancer, perfect blend of technology and magic
use my rappin so you all could see the hazards
plus entertainment where many are brainless
we cultivated the lost art of study and i brought a buddy
automator harder slayer fascinating combinations
cyber warlords are activating abominations
arm a nation with hatred we ain't with that
we high-tech archeologists searching for nicknacks

composing musical stimpacks the soul
crack the motor what you think you rappin for?
I used to be a mech soldier but I didn't respect orders
I had to step forward, tell them this ain't for us
living in a post-apocalyptic world morbid and horrid
the secrets of the past they horded
now we just boarded on a futuristic spacecraft

no mistakes black its our music we must take back"

"Assassination, Vaccination, poor education
infatuation with Satan with global nation taxation"

"The only place I can find justice is deep inside of these lines
That i designed to explain situations of the times
People in general are targets of big money markets
And are all disposable unless you come ready to work
Fully posable with suit and tie
Ready to buy into the bull# images
Of people claiming that money is what their religion is
Filthy females that are visionless
And foes that are precisionless
Let me be your mind's eye and vision this
Rise above, your power is limitless"

"Its time to revolt and restart
And live our lives from the heart
And bring this music back to the art, rip it apart."

"Perception, my best weapon
getting, sharper as I study my lessons
and in the face of adversity I thrive
when I die, use my spirits light as a guide"

"Imagine a whole globe made with precision
Continents of brown soil with green grass
That compliments deep seas and trees with multi-colored leaves
Mountain ranges that survive through the ages
Plus show expressions of time on rock faces
Now gaze up towards the glorious sky
Only appreciated by a powerful eye
As I understand, man is to cherish the land
As we coexist hand in hand
But as time has past
Man has created a vast
Mass of trash that has the capability to smash

Your natural desire to explore your state of being and
Discover you fire
For instance when a child is born
It posseses no intelligence of hate or scorn
But as it learns of hard ways
It becomes tuned from its original nature
As we destroy nature in the name of cash
All justified by laws made by the legislature"

"We all are being murdered by a similar process
Whether you work at the candy store
Or slave at the office
The purpose of our life is just to serve the economy
They misinform our minds to paint a picture of harmony
But if you listen then you know that #s out of tune
Cuz the function of our life is just to work and consume
# reaching out to help the next, there ain't any room
Just close your eyes and block your ears and march to your doom"

"I set off crowds, style wild like a circus
I seek through souls when I walk past churches
Allah praise you, stay true to a devout purpose
Seeking out the wise wherever the God searches"

"One day I got struck by knowledge of self
They gave me super scientifical powers
Now I, run through the ghetto
Battling my arch nemesis Mr. Ignorance
He's been trying to take me out since the days of my youth
He feared this day would come
I'm hot on his trail
But sometimes he slips away because he has an army
They always give me trouble
mainly Hatred, Jealousy and Envy they attack me
They think they got me
But I use my super science and I twist all three
I see sparks over that building
They're shooting at me
I dip, do a back flip
Then hit em in the heart with sharp skilled book marks
Ignorance hates when I drop it
But no matta what he do
He can't stop the prophet"

"Reeducate thy self from spoken fables
Descendants of the kings and queens who made it stable
Whose anatomy contains royal genealogy
You're no the minority, the unseen majority
Communicatin brother to brother before a dialect
Developed longevity, built the first community
Understood the science of healin through herbology
First open heart surgery was under king zoasa
Erectin pyramids livin off the nile river
There's so many unknown facts about self, i shiver
I stop a second, think to myself, it make me quiver
I must reach right inside of the self and just deliver
Rays of light of the sun, through the stratus
Peace as i release this apparatus"

"Skyscrapers is collosus, the cost of living
Is preposterous, stay alive, you play or die, no options
No batman and robin, can't tell between
The cops and the robbers, they both partners, they all heartless
With no conscience, back streets stay darkened
Where unbeliever hearts stay hardened
My eagle talons stay sharpened, like city lights stay throbbin
You either make a way or stay sobbin, the shiny apple
Is bruised but sweet and if you choose to eat
You could lose your teeth, many crews retreat
Nightly news repeat, who got shot down and locked down
Spotlight to savages, nasdaq averages
My narrative, rose to explain this existance
Amidst the harbor lights which remain in the distance"

"Politicians make cents but they ain't got six sense"

"As I construct skills that build, I don't be giving a #
Like chastity, my compacity's unlimited
Wit no gimmick, kids can't figure my structure like pyramids
I'm spirited like psychic and dead men resurrected
My wisdon's like prisms when light gets reflected, check it
My lyrical missiles, like heat suckers seeking
Never weakening, feeding off wack rhymers give me strength
Then I lenghten, wit no measure
Cuz I'm the ruler of styles, I rocket, the unidentify flowing object"

"Time for a station, identification
Wack rappers, open up your eyes, time for lyrical elevation
But you can't handle when I channel
Entering through mental panels, melting membranes like candles
Disintegrating mental matter, into ashes
Steppin up to rappers, just like the Titan Clashes
Bash an eyelash, my lyrical energy travels fastest
When propel by the leaves of Hawaii
Hardcore raps is about skills, so why do gangstas keep trying"

"Mr. Maes' got the iller track, I did a three sixty
Seen God starin' in the mirror, black
I figured that if I stayed focus, when situations seemed hopeless
I'm elevatin', breakin' the spell of satan
I want my lyrics written out like esco
To show the rap world how the industry slept
So when I'm gone, the parable will carry on
Young cats can sitback, puff tron, cool out, and sing along
I seen alot of valleys, I seen alot of peaks
I seen the bitter with the sweet, victory and defeat
Sometimes I fell, but a voice kept sayin'
Son, stick to your vision, stick to your vision"

"I'm not selling my soul cause I'm an artist
Emcees waste time to be perceived as the hardest
The meat shop possess the Earth, so stay modest
and treat the music those like a Goddess
never bow, cause if you do then you get caught up in this game
seeking your own fame, try to fortify your name
the only name to fortify is out of the Creator
remember what happened to Darth Vader, Darkside"

This is not the first time I came to the planet
But everytime I come, only a few could understand it
I came as Isis, my words they tried to ban it
I came as Moses, they couldn't follow my commandments
I came as Solomon, to a people that was lost
I came as Jesus, but they nailed me to a cross
I came as Harriet Tubman, I put the truth to Sojourner
Other times, I had to come as Nat Turner
They tried to lynch me, burn me and starve me
So I had to come back as Marcus Garvey, and Bob Marley
They tried to harm me, I used to be Malcolm X
They thought they had me, by putting holes in my chest
Nowadays through Hip Hop I manifest

"You better watch what the # flies outta ya mouth
Or I'ma hijack a plane and fly it into your house
Burn your apartment with your family tied to the couch
And slit your throat, so when you scream, only blood comes out
I doubt that there could ever be...a more wicked MC
'Cuz AIDs infested child molesters aren't sicker than me
I see the world for what it is, beyond the white and the black
The way the government downplays historical facts
'Cuz the United States sponsored the rise of the 3rd Reich
Just like the CIA trained terrorists to the fight

Build bombs and sneak box cutters onto a flight
When I was a child, the Devil himself bought me a mic
But I refused the offer, 'cuz God sent me to strike
With skills unused like fallopian tubes on a dyke
My words'll expose George Bush and Bin Laden
As two separate parts of the same seven headed dragon
And you can't fathom the truth, so you don't hear me
You think illuminati's just a #in conspiracy theory?

That's why Conservative racists are all runnin' #
And your phone is tapped by the Federal Government
So I'm jammin' frequencies in ya brain when you speak to me
Technique will rip a rapper to pieces indecently
Pack weapons illegally, because I'm never hesitant
Sniper scoping a commission controllin the president"

Nice Idea! It will be something I come back to every now and then to further go through the list.

Can't forget Pharoahe Monch neither...here's some new stuff that he got crazy deep on.

Also here is the second verse from 2pac's Blasphemy song. It's also crazy deep.

We probably in Hell already, our dumb as$es not knowin
Everybody kissin as$ to go to heaven ain't goin
Put my soul on it, I'm fightin devil niggaz daily
Plus the media be crucifying brothers severly
Tell me I ain't God's son, nigga my momma a virgin
We got addicted had to leave the burbs,
back in the ghetto doin wild sh#t, lookin at the sun don't pay
Criminal mind all the time, wait for Judgment Day
They say Moses split the Red Sea
I split the blunt and rolled it fat, but I'm deadly -- Babylon beware
Comin from the Pharoahe's kids, retaliation Makin legends off the sh#t we did,
still bull$h#ttin Niggaz in Jerusalem, waitin for signs
God coming is what they promised, she's just takin her time, haha
Living by the Nile while the water flows
I'm contemplating plots wondering which door to go
Brothas getting shot, comin back resurrected
It's just that raw $hit, nigga check it
And I remember what my papa told me
Remember what my papa told me, blasphemy

A tribe called quest - Stressed out (youtube)

I really know how it feels to be,
stressed out, stressed out,
when you're face to face with your adversity,

I really know how it feels to be,
stressed out, stressed out,
we're gonna make this thing work out eventually..."

Might be a little off-topic but this song always gets me through

Pretty cool list when I was expecting Eminem and Tupac as the inventors of Hip Hop or something similar. Roots Manuva? I saw him live in Liverpool and the decks wouldn't work so he just asked for word suggestions and then freestyled the crap out of the place. Inspiration and perspiration!

Wu Tang Clan and Raekwon have done some powerful tunes and lyrics over the years, but I guess you had to leave someone off the list.

cheers for the contribution

as much as I love hip hop I never heard much from the wu clan except for ghostface killah since he dropped the killah from his name, it just happened that way, don't know why.

But thats why there wasn't any yet, and so to anyone who thinks something belongs in the list but I haven't mentioned it, its probably because I haven't heard the song before, so please do post!

Also thats cool about Roots Manuva, I didn't know he was a gifted freestyler, I always pegged him to be good on paper, I'll have to see if I can find any of his stuff, cheers for the tip.

Peace,
-B.M

P.S) kids I knew were all about eminem, ice cube, nwa, ez e, notorious, ice cube, dre, exibit etc...

basically anything that a bunch of middle class white kids could feel gangsta listening too.

most of them still only listen to that stuff...

EMC - You let me grow

Last year, we did a record, that was dedicated to all our mothers.

Shortly .. yeah you can give it up for that ..

Shortly after, doin the record, uh my mom, my mom passed away, so my mom never got to hear this record, and this song means a lot to me, and my big brother Masta Ace is gon', gon' help tie the story together.

We might get a 'lil, a 'lil emotional but y'all have to bear with us it's the first time we doin this record. One month later, unexpectedly, my mother passes away and I didnt get a, she didn't get a chance to hear the song either, so this song is extra special to both of us, we've never performed this song before, we wanna share this with y'all. Is that cool?

Verse 1
Thank you momma, for everything that you've done,
Livin' in the slums, single mom, and you raised a son,
I wanna thank you for the sacrifice,
For a lot of kids in the hood, life wasn't half as nice,
Used to take me out to Coney Island,
I dont recall many tears, I remember only smilin,
I wanna thank you for the education,
The college tuition, and all of lifes preparation,
I used to think is was the worst day,
When you said I had to leave by my 21st birthday,
I didnt get it then, I understand now,
All is good, your boys a grown man now,
I got a plan now, and Im fine look,
And all my thanks couldnt fit into this rhyme book,
I aint gon wait until you cant say it back,
To tell you that I love you on a track, I love you.

Chorus
Made me strong like you, wipe these tears when I cry,
Let your fingers wipe the cold from my eyes,
Im ya baby, taught me to stand on my own,
But couldnt show me, some of the things I aint know,
You let me grow.

Verse 2
Days like this, momma said there would be,
Ten centimetres dialated, and you pushed me,
Aint psychic, but been down the paths I travelled,
Decisions are the roads in life, that has now hours,
Became accomplice, I always had home as an option,
You accomplished on your own, after you were adopted,
Knew that, only you made me a stronger person,
Not those R rated movies or those songs with curses,
Was worth it, and it shows but each day Im annoyed,
Workin to avoid, being Tyrese and Baby Boi,
Dated women that you didnt like, friends I defended,
You new that girl wasnt the one, and those friendships ended,
Said your peace then let me grow head to toe, let me know,
Lessons though whats best that kept me from dead below,
Places I begged to go, let me when bread was low,
Extra dough couldve said no, now Im set to go.

(Exhale)
You the best momma, you definitley better than the rest momma,
Always did your thing to keep me freshly dressed momma,
And not once did I ever see you stress momma.
Im so impressed momma, you was the sun on my cloudy day,
And if you couldnt be that, you would take them clouds away,
Wow, I hope you smile to what Im bout to say,
I love you moms and I hope I make you proud today.
Lunches for school, you would always pack the nicest,
They was great, now I appreciate them sacrifices,
When I was wrong you would let me know,
But at times you would let it go, just so you could let me grow.
Basketball, I dont think you ever missed a game,
If we lost you would say its ok its just a game,
I owe you so much and I can never pay you back,
But I give you music, now just lay back and play the track.

Chorus
Made me strong like you, wipe these tears when I cry,
Let your fingers wipe the cold from my eyes,
Im ya baby, taught me to stand on my own,
But couldnt show me, some of the things I aint know,
You let me grow.

Verse 3
Send this out to all the mothers, check it,
Yo, my versions of a mothers, they called,
A blessin from God,
Our relationship left me permanent scarred,
Struggled with jobs, straight crazy, my main lady,
Your pockets was as broke as the promises you gave me,
Late eighties, dated men that were straight shady,
You partied, I was at the babysitters daily,
Seen rarely, stayed missin, stayed riffin,
I seen you fight the world, your pops, and a drug addiction,
Contradictin, on my mother I was callin,
Ignorin, grams raised your son like mornin,
Tears fallin, you missed the growth and progression,
Im at the graduation, without a cheering section,
Harsh lessons, I would live it again,
Cause all of this still made me the man that I am,
Mother and friend, forgive you for all your mistakes,
Im forgettin the past so lets start with a clean slate. Love.
