I hope everyone still remembers the BP oil spill? Well I for one never thought it was real. Personally I believe that it was a cover up for a major natural disaster! (Giant fissure on the Sea floor)

Then we got all the reports of gas explosions on other rigs and also in the North Sea!

Well what a coincidence that the National Data Buoy Centre does not show ANY data in the North Sea and a huge number are down in the Gulf of Mexico!

The buoys do not have chemical sensor arrays deployed so they will not detected changes in the molecular composition of the ocean where they are stationed.

No but they will tell you if the sea floor in rising or falling!!!!!! "Methane bubble"

Some of those bouys show as being on land.

Methane gas is a frozen solid on the bottom of the ocean.

It exists all over the world's ocean.

Not just where they are drilling for oil.

It is everywhere.

And I do not even see a correlation that you are attempting to make.

A number of them are always down for various reasons.

What exactly would create a methane gas bubble?

I too fail to see the correlation you're trying to make and it's interesting how you conveniently only chose 2 locations for your speculation when there are stations with no recent (< 8 hours) meteorological data all over the world.

Many of the North Sea buoys are again transmitting data. (Inset picture is your original one for comparison)

Also, here are a few randomly clicked stations with no data and the reasons they are not transmitting data. The time frame for these also seem to be outside of your speculation.

Station 46070 stopped transmitting 12/15/09. This buoy will be restored to service when it can be worked into the schedule. When the service date is known, it will be posted in the maintenance report.

Station 42080 went adrift on 09/12/2009 and the last report from its moored position was at 1300Z. The buoy was recovered on 09/13/2009. This buoy will be restored to service when it can be worked into the schedule. When the service date is known, it will be posted on the maintenance report.

Things happen and don't always work properly. Sorry, but I see nothing here to be concerned about.
