Haha, you know they are putting a minigun on that thing and plating it. That, or they are putting a person in a wired suit that links directly to an on-field robot which imitates actions directly (person gets feedback) since we don't have AI down yet.

At the very, very, very least, they will have someone in one of these to carry the supplies and have a medical evacuation seat on the back.

Its function would be probably taking on the task said forklifts would be unable to do. You can imagine moving/passing ammunition bins, heavy ordinance up to a vehicle/plane, and such... I know a lighter model is also being worked on that would basically just attach to the lower body and be used to aid in carrying a soldier's packs over long distance. A distant version would actually be a robot that a solider could step away from the suit and the robot could then perform tasks.

I am really excited to see someone working on this tech. Maybe Heinlein's Starship Troopers won't be so far off.

Nothing like Iron man, This is more similar to the mech suit from Aliens or Mljonir armor from Halo or something.
Ironman flies, this thing doesn't.

To many chinks in the armor.....lol Maybe the guys in supply will have a field day, but as far as a combat suit

Give it ten years and maybe it will have a few true qualities of a IM suit.

They are less expensive right now... as these things are developed they use more technology but potentially less material to create... so overtime you may get better results from these suits than forlifts... i used to work in a moving warehouse and trust me there are times where I wish i could just pick up a crate and carry it or turn it around and some maneuvering that is necessary (especially inside some warehouses) you just cant do in a forklift.

in MY Opinion this technology will revolutionize a lot of industries from moving to rescue and even military. the article is right that these things are desperately needed in the field (whatever field that may be, construction, moving, rescue, et cetera) and when the price point drops below a certain point exoskeleton will become common place.

Put armer on it, rail gun, anti tank weapon.
Can you imagine that running at you?
They would use stealth on it to.
And if some one did fire a missile at it.
You just lay down. Target is then to small.
A tank is To Big and easy to kill.
And they cost a Lot!!
haw many of these cyborg suits would
cost as much as the best tank?
10? the suit can carry a lot of weapons.
They are a lot harder to hit than 1 tank.
I know witch I would use on a battle field.

Rail guns don't exist (outside of theoretical battle ship weapons and space launchers), and they are decades, if not centuries from being that small.

You can't lay down in it. Also, dodging is a missile is kind of like dodging a bullet. Sure, you have a fraction of a second, but it's insufficient. Then there is that little magical thing called blast radius.

That type of tech will probably not be used for combat.

Probably for logistics/material handling.

only if you dont know the intended trajectory.

A missle using a predictible targeting system would be easy to dodge with either experiance or computer assisted movement using a computer program. If you know where the bullet will go it becomes infinitely easier to dodge.

Also the smaller you can make the weapon the more effective it will be. Of course you must take into account the capability of your weapons manufactureers to match the smallest possible frame. Although the ability to interupt or hack the signal of your connection would mean an ineivitble progression into a sentient AI that would make the machine capable of autonomous motion in the event of dissconection or a needed battle force greater than the avalible mech pilot population. Because they could all log into any ready force storage location and depoly from there the advantages of autnomous or remotley operated weapons will always be advantageous.

In the end war of any type will be eradicated by sentient AI. With the abilty to infintely copy a trained AI all computer operated machines can be accessed and used simultaneously to accomplish a mission.

15 years from now.... Raytheon says 5 though.

I think the .50 M2 Browning or Mk-19 40mm AGL will be more plausible weapons though.

that maybe true now but who knows what they could turn this into in another 5-10 years if that look at the progress they have made so far im guessing this is yet another pice of tech that will in time cause an international debate an ultimatly a war where the governent can rly put the full potential of these machines to work. i mean look at the missile how long do you think it took the scematics and testing before the destructive potential was truely realized and they still continue to make mods and tweek with the origional design of missiles and the continue to grow more destructive as time goes on who's to say this wont be the same result
