Is there that much of a difference between generic vs brand name drugs? Reason I ask is I just got popped $250 for a 14 day supply of a brand name antibiotic.

No, there is no difference. In fact, generic drugs are required by federal law to be isokinetic (having the same kinetic/pharmacologic profile) when compared to the brand name version.

Some generics, however, use a different filler compound, so you may want to check with your doctor about that, just in case a certain sort of formulation is contraindicated for your condition.

For the most part they are all the same. Some generic brands use a lesser quality ingredient, granted it's the same ingredient, it's just not as good of quality.
