In defense of the true living God and the true Christian Faith, this thread was also created in response to those who continually, vehemently, blindly, ignorantly and mistakenly blame God for the badness committed or are being committed on earth and the catastrophic events that happened or are happening on earth.
I'll divide it into three sections so that the progression of events can easily be followed and can jump from section to section if you want/need to. I'll keep it as short as I can.
But before I present the case of why man's rule must and will end.
I would like to lay out first the reasons why it exists in the first place.
A short answer is: it exists because it was allowed to EXIST. In his great wisdom, love and justice, God allowed it to exist in order to settle once and for all the UNIVERSAL issue of SOVEREIGNTY. That is, His RIGHT to Rule mankind.
In other words the Creator of Heaven and Earth allowed man to challenge Him!
Pretty sobering and powerful if you think about it.
To put it in another perspective:
How would you feel if after providing love, guidance, sustenance, a beautiful home and protection to your children, after showing them your deepest love for them they turn around and disrespect you? How would you feel if they challenged your rightful authority? Will you be able to control your anger? How would you do it? Think about it again, who in their right mind would allow their children to do this to them? A human father may not let it happen. But God (however painful) allowed it to happen.
But was it God's Sovereignty the only issue why God allowed the challenge to proceed?

Section I:
The Challenge: How did the Universal issue came to be?
According to Biblical evidence - it all happened in the Garden of Eden (gan.ehden – garden of pleasure). Where man was given a good righteous start but blew it by disobeying a very simple command given by his Creator and Father.
Because of this deliberate disobedience here we are in this condemned dying state.
So the responsibility lies with the first parents. Because of one man's (Adam) deliberate disobedience, all of their offspring (mankind) inherited sin and death (Rom 5:12). The fault is not God's as some would like to claim but squarely man's.
Note the evidence again:
Genesis 1:28 says:
“Further, God blessed them and God said to them: “Be fruitful and become many and fill the earth and subdue it, and have in subjection the fish of the sea and the flying creatures of the heavens and every living creature that is moving upon the earth.”
They were to take care of their beautiful home – the earth. Spread the Garden of Eden earth-wide and turn the entire planet earth into a Paradise populated by righteous people for all eternity. They were endowed with perfect body and mind to accomplish their God given task. They also have under their care and control “every living creature that is moving upon the earth”.
But in order for them to continue in this perfect state they must gain everlasting life. How? They need to show that they wanted it (willingly) and most of all they need to show their love and obedience to their Father and Creator. And as a loving and understanding Father, God can't force them to show their obedience and love, it must come from the heart – or else man is not a free moral agent.
So how was this going to be settled?
-- in a very loving way; by giving them a simple command - besides cultivating and taking care of the earth, they are NOT to take something that belongs to God – the right to judge what right and what is wrong – Supreme Rulership.
In order to keep on living they were to wisely follow this divine command:
“And Jehovah God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” -- Gen 2:16, 17 (ASV)
Thus they can eat any (fruit) tree in the garden, except for the “the tree of the knowledge of good and evil”. -- Gen 2:9
In other words obedience to this very simple command means life for them and their offspring but “in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” Indeed a loving and fair warning with no hidden agenda. (Luke 16:10).
For how long they will do this, only God knows, but once their loyalty and love for their Creator was determined then it's reasonable to conclude that they will be given everlasting life by partaking of the “the tree of life” that is “also in the midst of the garden”.
[Side Note:
As you can see man's original existence was simple and no confusion such as we see in many religions (today). They have direct access to their Creator and they were at peace with God, with themselves and the other living beings / things. In other words their 'religion' was their way of life – a perfect way of life in pure worship of their God and Creator.
Also, contrary to what some believed – as indicated in the scriptures, it is evident that Jehovah God didn’t know what action the couple will take: will they obey or disobey God? Otherwise the command (others call it test of obedience) will have no real value if God knew already what they were going to do. Besides, if God knew the outcome already then he will be held responsible for their sin, death and all the misery that plagued mankind – rightly so. Also, it would be cruel and unjust to tell them something that they will fail to do. But some may say, 'but, but God is all knowing, how could it be that he doesn't know what action will Adam and Eve take?'
Simple! God CHOOSE not to know (as indicated by the command / test). It's like you or me not wanting to know the weather tomorrow or the next day or next week by simply CHOOSING not to watch the TV or listen to the radio. Thus a simple test was provided to find out. In other words, it was up to Adam and Eve to make the decision about their future using their God given conscience. It was up to them to establish their relationship to God their Creator and Father. Their lives were not predestined or predetermined]

Sadly, instead of listening to their God and Father, the couple listened to a rebellious angel. An angel who used to be a beautiful righteous cherub but decided one day to take what was not his (Ezek 28: 11-19). He wanted to rule mankind and become their god. He knew that this was his opportunity (right at the start) to implement his wicked plan. So he came up with a wicked plot. He did it by 'opposing' and 'slandering' God. By telling lies, this once righteous angel came to be known as 'Satan (opposer/resister) the Devil (slanderer). In other words, he made himself into Satan the Devil (Rev 20:2) – contrary to what some believed. By telling lies he also became known as the 'father of the lie' (John 8:44).
Notice how he opposed and slandered the living God using a lowly serpent as a medium of communication (no guts to show himself – I wonder why??).
Gen 3:1-5 says: (NIV)
“Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals...He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?"
→ Noticed how Satan twisted God's command. First lie; Satan slyly asked the question that God said 'not to eat from ANY tree'.
Gen 3:2, 3:
“The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.'"
→ So Eve corrected Satan. But the response:
Gen 3:4 "You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman.”
→ The second lie. Satan slandered God by accusing God of lying to the woman. That is, they will not die if they disobeyed God when they partake of the forbidden fruit. As if that wasn’t enough he added the final clincher.
He said:
Gen 3:5 "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."
→ Third and fourth lie: Satan made it appear that God was hiding something from them, that's why they were forbidden to partake of “the tree of the knowledge of good and evil”.
In other words IF THEY MAKE THE DECISION ON their OWN, WHAT IS GOOD AND WHAT IS BAD, THEIR 'EYES WILL BE OPPENED”. They no longer need God to make the decision for them. They will now become INDEPENDENT from God. As if they become gods themselves. What a lie!
Thus Satan opposed God's right to rule and slandered God's good reputation – in front of all God's creations (man and angels). The first couple joined in the opposition as the records show.
“And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat; and she gave also unto her husband with her, and he did eat.” –- Gen 3:6
So from that moment in time a great rebellion began and further expanded later on when other sons of God (angels) sided with Satan. These angels forsook their heavenly abode and came down to earth to have relations with the daughters of men (Jude 6, Rev 12:9) and later became wicked spirits otherwise known as demons (Duet 32:17, 1 Cor 10:21).
Side note:
There's evidence that the belief of gods and goddesses came to the fore because of these rebellious angels. When they forsook their heavenly residence and came down to earth, they took on human forms and cohabited with the daughters of men (before the flood). The offspring they bore were hybrid and became known as Nephilim (fellers – sons of the gods), These are mean men of fame, giants, full of lust and wickedness just like their parents (demons). Sometime later these stories became distorted and embellished in man's history, I.e. Assyrian-Babylonian, Greek and Roman Mythologies.

The book of Job provides further clarification of Satan's plan his challenge to God's sovereignty – in that he accused God of bribery. In addition revealed his true feeling about man - selfish, untrustworthy creatures. That is, he insinuated that the righteous man Job was ONLY serving God because of the blessings he received. ‘Take these things away from him’ says Satan “[and see] whether he will not curse you to your very face.” Unsuccessful in breaking Job's integrity to God, he next said “Skin in behalf of skin, and everything that a man has he will give in behalf of his soul. For a change, thrust out your hand, please, and touch as far as his bone and his flesh [and see] whether he will not curse you to your very face.” *Job suffered a lot but remained faithful to the end. -- Job 1, 2:2.
SO to summarize what occured, the accusations put forth by the three rebels are:
1) The living God is an unfit parent (father) not deserving any obedience and respect.
2) He has no right to govern or rule mankind. In short his sovereignty was put into question.
3) That mankind can live on their own without any help, guidance or assistance from their creator.
4) As a rightful father he does not have the right to decide what is right and wrong for his children. - Tree of good and evil.
5) Being a Creator, he was accused of being a liar - saying that man will NOT die if they disobey his loving command.
6) That He is an unloving, selfish God, hiding something from them –that is, becoming a god themselves.
7) The living God was accused of hiding the truth from them – not dying.
8) That his creation will only serve and worship God because of the blessings they receive from him (take them away says the accuser, man will abandon God). In other words man will only serve God due to selfish reasons.
9) Man under abundance or hardship or test will abandon his Creator. In short man can’t be trusted.
10) That Satan can successfully rule mankind. If given a chance he can TURN ANY RIGHTEOUS PERSON ALIVE AGAINST JEHOVAH GOD both in a PERFECT (Adam/Eve & Jesus) and IMPERFECT condition (mankind).
Thus from that moment in time every living being on earth was put on noticed by satan. Everyone must now show which side they are on in this great universal issue – there's no escaping it whether you like it or not, believe it or not. By extension – the angels were put on noticed too.
Notice:
“Be wise, my son, and make my heart rejoice, that I may make a reply to him that is taunting me.”—Prov. 27:11.
“And I heard a loud voice in heaven say: “Now have come to pass the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ, because the accuser of our brothers has been hurled down, who accuses them day and night before our God!” -- Revelation 12:10
This is why the disciple James said this:
“When under trial, let no one say: “I am being tried by God.” For with evil things God cannot be tried nor does he himself try anyone.” (James 1:13)

In understanding suffering, we have to recognize that accidents, sinful human tendencies, man’s mismanagement of the earth, and Satan the Devil are causes for suffering.]
Incredible! How man was deceived and continue to be deceived. Only by learning the contents of the Bible one can be set free. Jesus said “your word is truth” (John 17: 15, 16).

Section II:
The Proof
So to prove their claim, God did not destroy them but allowed them to go forward with their challenge. Besides, destroying the rebels would not answer the questions for good but will only leave more doubts to all of Gods creations, that is, God’s RIGHFULNESS TO RULE his creation / mankind. So time (a long time) was allowed for man to:
1) Prove the truthfulness of his claim once and for all.
2) To form his own way of governing (himself) be it monarchy, oligarchy, aristocracy, anarchy, (man-made) theocracy, republic, democratic, communistic, fascistic, etc.
3) To prove that mans rulership is better than his maker – once and for all.
Thus sufficient time was allowed for man to create different types of governments and kingdoms. Advance his way of living and thinking – be it evolution, science, technology, psychology, philosophy, advance economically, educationally, materially, politically, be it atheism or materialism, etc.
4) At the same time man was also allowed to form, developed and choose his way of worship (religion) – be it False Theism, Animism, Satanism, Paganism, Occultism, Fanaticism, Sectarianism, #oism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Islamism, Gaiasm, voodooism, sorcery, etc. (Tower of Babel)
5) And most of all to decide on his own what is right and what is wrong. In short, time was given to truly prove once and for all that MAN can successfully ‘guide his own steps’ apart from his creator. (Jeremiah 10:23)
By allowing the three rebels along with the demons to go on with their challenge, he gave them (mankind) the opportunity to prove ONCE AND FOR ALL that God is not needed. In a direct or indirect way, proclaim 'God is dead' or does not exist. Portray man and life itself as a product of evolution – nothing more nothing less. Sad part is man’s rule is a trial and error experimental way of life. Proofs are in the history books and the present conditions testify to the facts.
But this also allowed opportunity for the meek ones (of Adam's obedient offspring) to show their appreciation to God willingly. They can show this appreciation by becoming part of his chosen people – by following the righteous commands written in his letters, the Bible.

Think of this, to show God’s love and concern for his children - as soon as man fell from grace (God’s favor) – He proclaimed right away the very first prophetic event that will eventually bring back man to his original position at Gen 3:15: a “seed” will crushed (destroy) the serpent (Satan) for good]

Thus the great controversy and challenge to God’s rightful rulership was put into motion and God’s loving rulership was put into question, replaced by mans own creation - man's rule. The 'system of things' was now on its way to direct man – under the control of Satan and his demons (Eph. 6:11, 12).
Thousands of years passed – here we are in the 21st century. Where are we now with the challenge and the universal issue of sovereignty?

What's the situation on earth now? Are we much better off with all technological advancements or is world is more perilous? If we really think about it man’s government has failed miserably. The world is now facing a global economic meltdown in addition to moral breakdown. Why, even the basic needs people can’t be meet satisfactorily. Diseases, hunger, violence, wars – genocide, concentration camps, man’s inhumanity to man, crimes mar the history books, included in this are the religious bloodsheds committed in the name of God. Sadly, most wars past and present had something to do in way or another with religion. Many of the killings and crimes were / are committed due to religious fanaticism, religious intolerance and misguided religious leaders. Which brought ostracism to God's holy name.
Think also of the breakup of families, breakup of societies amidst a more enlightened society and technological advances, while the loss of morality and respect are increasing. Why, we can send men to the moon; send space probes in deep space and beyond yet on earth nations are at their throats. Governments spend trillions of dollars developing powerful weapons of mass destruction, yet millions are left starving.
Think of the good this will do if all the nations agree to devote their great talents and wealth helping the poor. DO you think in a year or two, poverty can be reduced or even eradicated? Think of the billions of dollars wasted every months or years due to mismanagement. Think of the advances in science and medicine, what if all the brightest minds in world devote a year or two to come up with a cure for say cancer – do you think it will be possible to up with a cure? Yet we are faced with an ever threatening viruses and diseases. And many can’t even afford basic medical needs.
We can split the atom, yet we are powerless in putting it back – how many nukes do you think the nations have? Will any reduction treaty reduce the threat? What’s the probability that these WMD's will NOT be used in future conflicts? What about biological weapons, even conventional weapons – can MAN have the power to eliminate these threats? Are the Nations truly United and in Peace or are the Nations in pieces?
Then there’s the ever growing population and ever increasing pollution and the often talked about global warming/climate change (jury still out). What about terrorism and many more sad facts of life confronting us. Just right at this moment- many go to bed hungry. Many are struggling just to survive. On the opposite side, many take their own life to end the hopelessness even though they have plenty. Our happiness is but for a moment and for the most part not lasting.
Now, how long do you think man has before he destroys himself? What about the catastrophic events (man-made/natural) in which man is powerless, do you think we need God’s help now to stop ALL of these events? Or will man keep repeating the lies that we don’t need him or that he does not exist, that we are just products of accident, chance, evolution, abiogenesis, aliens, Anything other than God (AotG)? – Thus no real purpose.
Sadly though, many religious leaders who claim to be servants of God are themselves responsible for spreading the lies (knowingly or otherwise). They alienated (and continue to alienate) many because of their immoral conducts, lifestyles and unbiblical teachings such as the ‘immortal soul’ doctrine, that God will take away good people to heaven while he will roast the sinners in a fiery place of torment called “hellfire”/ purgatory. They make traditions of men as God's commands – thereby burdening their members with costly expenses – year after year. They even removed God's holy name in most Bibles – thereby confusing the many of the true identity of the living God.
They fused pagan teachings with Christian teachings (idol worship / saint worship, Halloween, voodoo, etc), presided over inquisitions and launched crusades. They not only allow but lead the worship of the creation rather than the Creator. Elevated men to positions that rival Jesus – having the authority to forgive sins at the same time bless young men in the name of God and send them to kill their fellowman and their brothers. They equate country with God – to serve your country is to serve God (patriotic nationalism), they watered down Jesus' Golden Rule and commands – declare immoral practices as a normal way of life. The even removed the word ‘SIN’ in their sermons so as not offend anyone.
Busily meddling in politics (becoming candidates themselves), claiming to be Christians yet fighting with their brothers in the political arena (liberal vs conservative Christians) – pitting God’s laws against man’s laws (sometimes by force), influencing politicians to adopt their teachings (#Creationism/ID) while in some corners declare that evolution is part of God's plan. Some hide in the cloak of holiness while practicing wickedness, victimizing the most innocent, on other corners they command their followers to strap bombs, blow themselves up and kill people. Others say that the varieties in religion are just different ways to approach God – different roads leading to the same destination –disunited but all acceptable to God - a lie worthy of satan’s approval.
The list goes on and on and on. No wonder the word ‘religion’ has such a bad taste and connotation!
#Creationism – as defined and incorporated in the Arkansas Law and judicial Opinion.
#ID (Intelligent Design) – a carefully worded science curriculum where the living God as the designer is not even mentioned. Meaning there’s intelligence in design but not by a designer.
But true servants of the living God and true followers of Jesus Christ MUST separate themselves from these things (Rev 18:4). They MUST remain clean – spiritually, morally and physically (2 Pet 3:14).
Jesus said:
“Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will. Many will say to me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works in your name?’ And yet then I will confess to them: I never knew YOU! Get away from me, YOU workers of lawlessness. -- Matthew 7:21-23
Why the rebuke? Because they did their own 'will' not God’s.
As regards to this ‘world’ of mankind alienated from God, Jesus said:
“My Kingdom is no part of this world.” – John 18:36
In addition – all of these ‘things’ in the ‘world’ leads to more confusion and serves the purpose of “Satan, which deceiveth the whole world...” the ‘god of the system of things’. --Rev 12:9, John 8:44
It also serves as ammunition to opposers of God – labeling all religion as hypocrisy, equating Christianity with *Christendom as if they are the same. They use it to misrepresent true Christianity.

A clergy class will emerge from among them (laity) and elevate themselves with titles as though having authority from the living God and Christ. It is no wonder, the world is in such a mess and God is wrongly being blamed for all of the world’s troubles and problems. Some if not many question that if God exist, then why he doesn’t put a stop to all of this madness? Yet, when the Bible is mentioned, many scoff at the idea that it is the word of God. True Christians are ridiculed as weak minded people and thought of as against science. The Bible’s messages are oftentimes ridiculed and laugh at by supposedly ‘smart men’.
Yes the world of mankind (alienated from God) is truly a mess - because of man's own doing. Sadly and amazingly there are defenders of satan - whether they know it, willingly admit it or not, they cite Bible verses and twist them (just like satan) to portray God as evil and portray satan as the victim. They insist that the Bible is just a book concocted by man and can’t be trusted and replaced it with other books supposedly called ‘science books’, philosophical books – i.e. evolution – Origin of Species, Freud, etc.
They come with wild explanations as to why there’s no living God - fulfilling the prophecy about them.
“For YOU know this first, that in the last days there will come ridiculers with their ridicule, proceeding according to their own desires and saying: “Where is this promised presence of his? Why, from the day our forefathers fell asleep [in death], all things are continuing exactly as from creation’s beginning.” – 2 Pet 3: 3, 4.

The Proof
So to prove their claim, God did not destroy them but allowed them to go forward with their challenge. Besides, destroying the rebels would not answer the questions for good but will only leave more doubts to all of Gods creations, that is, God’s RIGHFULNESS TO RULE his creation / mankind. So time (a long time) was allowed for man to:
1) Prove the truthfulness of his claim once and for all.
2) To form his own way of governing (himself) be it monarchy, oligarchy, aristocracy, anarchy, (man-made) theocracy, republic, democratic, communistic, fascistic, etc.
3) To prove that mans rulership is better than his maker – once and for all.
Thus sufficient time was allowed for man to create different types of governments and kingdoms. Advance his way of living and thinking – be it evolution, science, technology, psychology, philosophy, advance economically, educationally, materially, politically, be it atheism or materialism, etc.
4) At the same time man was also allowed to form, developed and choose his way of worship (religion) – be it False Theism, Animism, Satanism, Paganism, Occultism, Fanaticism, Sectarianism, #oism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Islamism, Gaiasm, voodooism, sorcery, etc. (Tower of Babel)
5) And most of all to decide on his own what is right and what is wrong. In short, time was given to truly prove once and for all that MAN can successfully ‘guide his own steps’ apart from his creator. (Jeremiah 10:23)
These are the fundamental reasons why man’s rule exist with its differing religious organs, confusing beliefs, teachings, doctrines, philosophies and differing ways of life, etc and why God's Kingdom government is not here (yet). It's also the reason why God did not interfere or put an end to man's rules and affairs.

In a direct or indirect way, proclaim 'God is dead' or does not exist. Portray man and life itself as a product of evolution – nothing more nothing less. Sad part is man’s rule is a trial and error experimental way of life. Proofs are in the history books and the present conditions testify to the facts.
But this also allowed opportunity for the meek ones (of Adam's obedient offspring) to show their appreciation to God willingly. They can show this appreciation by becoming part of his chosen people – by following the righteous commands written in his letters, the Bible.

Section III:
The Promise
On the other hand millions upon millions (starting from Abel to the present) have proven Satan to be a liar. They proved without any doubt that they served and will serve the living God Jehovah because they want to, not because of the things they receive. Many millions died faithfully serving God and many more continue serving Him in spite of all the hardships and difficult circumstances they encounter. (Heb 11,12)
A sure confirmation that Satan is indeed a liar!
Think of this too, in spite of all the maltreatment and false accusations heaped upon Jehovah God/Yahweh, he is patient and does not force anyone (just like Adam and Eve) to obey him but wants us to approach him willingly.
2 Peter 3:9 says:
“Jehovah is not slow respecting his promise, as some people consider slowness, but he is patient with YOU because he does not desire any to be destroyed but desires all to attain to repentance.”
As a proof he even sent forth his beloved son to die for us (John 3:16), this to show his unquestionable love for his creation. He also provided a book the Bible to show us ‘The Way’ back to him.
As for Jesus the only begotten son of God, he died and gave his life willingly “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16, Rom 4:7-8)
Thus Jesus can say “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” John 14:6
“No one has love greater than this, that someone should surrender his soul in behalf of his friends.” – John 15:13
Either you care or not, hate him or not, Jesus did it because he considers you - his friend. Imagine that! Either way God cares for us and wants us to take advantage of the provision he provided through his beloved son Jesus Christ.
For those who are being loaded down and pressured by this wicked world Jesus said:
“Come to me, all YOU who are toiling and loaded down, and I will refresh YOU. Take my yoke upon YOU and learn from me, for I am mild-tempered and lowly in heart, and YOU will find refreshment for YOUR souls.” -- Matthew 11:28-29
As a further guaranty God promised this (very soon): Rev 21:1-4
“With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
Imagine that - “he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
Those who become part of God's people will:

When we are born, we do not know good from bad. It is something we are taught... How can a baby sin?
They are most innocent, not capable of any kind of harm, yet it is born with sin?
I was always a believer, but had so much "bad luck" happen to me. I do not blame God, because I believe everything is half chance. I have asked God for his divine intervention. Before it was too late. I have always asked for his protection. But # still happens... What kind of God is this if he only chooses to enlighten certain people and not the rest? Or to help out the rich and fat but never the poor and hungry?
What about the animals of the kingdom of God? Do they sin too? Do they go to hell because a male rabbit humped another male rabbit? Will my cat go to heaven even tho he kills mice for a living?
How would you feel if after providing love, guidance, sustenance, a beautiful home and protection to your children, after showing them your deepest love for them they turn around and disrespect you? How would you feel if they challenged your rightful authority? Will you be able to control your anger? How would you do it? Think about it again, who in their right mind would allow their children to do this to them? A human father may not let it happen. But God (however painful) allowed it to happen.
I think if there is an almighty God or creator, he probably doesn't really mind if we disrespect him. Why would he? If God has all of this power, he could easily just smite those who oppose him, or just wipe the slate clean. To say that a God would be jealous or vengeful is pretty lame to me, no offense. Jealousy and vengeance are traits of man, not of Gods. In my mind, that leaves three possibilities: either there is no all-powerful God, God doesn't judge as critically as we're led to believe, or God is clever enough to set up a system that goes beyond individual religious texts. (I'm leaning towards the last one.)
If there is a God, he doesn't care what we do on the individual level. All that matters is the planetary/collective level. Man isn't really capable of eternal damnation, only mankind can pull that one off. I look at all the variety in the spiritualities as God's way of ensuring mankind succeeds in it's destiny. One book is worthless without the other, from my point of view, anyway.
The way I look at it, there are only 3 logical sins: to deny the truth, to control the truth, and to waste the gifts you've been given. Everything else is someone's opinion (or interpretation) of how to avoid these.
My approach to spirituality is to interpret "God" for myself and to avoid looking at the ideas, thoughts, and interpretations of others as absolutes. They are guides; nothing more, nothing less. We are all put on this planet to guide each other, if we were put here at all.
For me, the Bible, the Koran, the Upanishads, the Illiad, etc. etc. etc. are all equally important guides for my journey through life. If God didn't want me to interpret his universe for myself, he would have robbed me of my sight, or simply removed my brain from my skull.
Am I going to hell? Thought so. Luckily I don't believe in it.
In other words the Creator of Heaven and Earth allowed man to challenge Him!
This actually makes sense in a way, but I would rephrase it. The Creator allowed man (and woman) to figure himself out, so that he could be closer to the Creator. The universe is a puzzle, life is a game, the self is the map, spirit is the shield, and the mind is the joystick. I honestly do believe that the technological evolution of man is intended, quite literally, to allow us to "reach into the heavens" and "touch God" (in a non-sexual way, of course.) God wants us to teach him something new, if you ask me.
