The scale is silly. It's measuring two different things in one dimension.

Smart people in ancient greece have already figured out thousands of years ago which forms of Government work and which dont. Anything thereafter is just diversionary tactic (nice expression!).

Skyfloating,
While we don't always agree on everything, and while I don't agree with a couple parts of your wording in this thread, overall that's peanuts. I actually really dig this thread, it shows a real depth to your views on the left-right paradigm and definitely enlightenment on the matter.

S+F, keep the good fight right up.

What a surprising statement considering the worldview-fights we've had on the Board. But as much you are I dont have in common with others we also have in common with others. I guess its our choice whether we emphasize commonalities or differences.

You're all over this. Many thanks for your excellent work. I'm completely attuned to your perspective.
I would go so far as to say that delusional world views seem to be the basic human failing across all ideologies, socio-political paradigms, ethnic-gender exclusivity - and matters of faith.
Achieving or maintaining an awareness of our self-delusions seems a worthwhile path.

This is the political scale I trust most. The Political Compass:

I'll watch that video later when I have time... but to be honest I wouldn't trust the Ludwig Von Mises institute on this issue.

The Firestarter

A Firestarter is my unofficial term for people employed by Newsmedia, TV, Blogs, Discussion Boards and other Media venues for the sole purpose of inciting anger, hatred, gaps of logic and blatantly false information.

Why would anyone employe such a person? Because it generates replies. It is human nature to want to reply to something that is false, dumb, illogical or hateful.

Why generate replies? For $$ revenue. It is critical for the growth and income of every media outlet to create problems. Without problems, no Debate, no Visitors. Without Debate and Drama and Visitors, no income.

Adam Carolla is an atheist on the political right.

I accept some of what you say, especially about politics and theories.

But are aliens left/right? Nibiru...conservative plot? Ancient astronauts and the pyramids...a leftist tool to undermine society? Giants and the nephillum.....or Atlantis.... a Socialist/ Hippy/ Free Love Commune that didn't work out?

Why should I be angry about the UFO that crashed in Tunguska in 1901? or deluded about the idea of a hollow earth?

Nope, some conspiracies are anger based.....but conspiracies in general are merely attempts to explain and define the irrational and unexplainable.

Bigfoot was a genetic experiment gone bad by time traveling Nazis from Antarctica, that got lost on their way from S. America to the USA, in the Bermuda Triangle....they lost their bearings over the Coral Castle... and while trying to elude and defend themselves from a Thunderbird, they let loose some stray shots that accidentally hit JFK while travelling through Texas...before they cut the time machine back on and it malfunctioned and crashed at time 1947...in Roswell, NM.

Yup, I'm mad alright.

Who cares?

What a small minority believe does not shape mass-reality. Mass-reality is shaped by mass-media, mass-beliefs, mass-delusions, large crowds.

UFOs and the Paranormal are slightly more removed from being prone to political manipulation. Thats why I do a lot of conspiracy-threads on Ancient Astronauts and UFOs.

However, even there the right and lift try to hijack the topic.

The hoaxed Billy Meier material on "give up all your borders and private property and join mankind in oneness" is nothing more than....

The theory about UFOs being of Hitler in the Antarctic and Nordic blondes being a superiour alien race is nothing but....

Do I have to fill in the blanks?

Here's a thread that shows how the conspiracy-crowd hails Ahmadenijad as a HERO.

The guy wants to Nuke Israel, denies the Holocaust existed, believes women should not show their faces, has homosexuals hung in public, outlaws free press...and the people here are cheering him as a bastion of truth and freedom.

Ahmedenijad claims that Jews ("Zionists") contol the American media. I bet he is wondering why he gets to appear on Larry King anyway.

A current example of how both Fascism and Communism are merely used as tools for a deeper agenda:

The United States, which used Islamic fundamentalists against communism in Afghanistan in the 1980s, has embarked on an operation to use communists to bring about the end of the Islamic regime in Iran.

What I always liked about that drawing is that it correctly presents both the right and the left as authoritarian, giving politics 4 Dimensions rather than only two.

The many thousands of threads like this one so obviously show the authoritiarian distortions of both the left and the right. In that thread you see the right wanting to outlaw how people dress (burka) and the left wanting to outlaw how people speak. The agenda on both sides is always the same - people wanting to tell you how to live.

From your threads/comments I find you far from a centrist, to me you are on the far right. Not fringe but still far. You are also more on the libertarian side and less authoritarian.

Nonetheless interesting thread.

Because of my recent postings on socialism here?

Maybe. I think people like me are classified as right-wing-libertarians (as opposed to authoritarian right-wingers who are fascists) on the scale posted by NoHierarchy earlier.
