With all the controversies over bible burnings and Qu'ran burnings, I think some clarification is needed.

For Muslims, the holy Qu'ran is a direct connection to God. They believe that the Qu'ran is God's direct presence in their lives.

For Christians, this direct connection and presence is Jesus. So literally, the closest equivalent to burning the Qu'ran for Christians would be to burn Jesus, or a symbolic crucifix for lack of available burnable Jesus'.

For all those people who think that the Muslim holy book is the same for them as the bible is for Christians... think again.

Your logic is flawed.
Therefore your proposition is flawed.
Its obvious...See if you can figure it out.

Okay......
so how many millions of copies of the Quran are in print? How many would it take to rid God's presence from their lives?

It would take a lot of work to rid God's presence from their lives then. Not to mention there IS the printing press.

Not to mention the stark irony in a complete lack of faith in their God to believe that their God would stop giving His presence to them if their enemies burn their holy books.

Really? You think you justified burning Bibles over Qurans?

Even the faithless are overrun with a sense of vanity.

It would do neither good nor harm unless the book was near other flammable things which should be preserved, like shelter, or if it was to give warmth to someone during a time of dire freezing.

But for society in general, it's a pointless endeavor.

I'm trying to follow this, forgive me if I am way, way, way off base here, please?

So if I place a crucifix in a jar of urine, then that would be like placing a Koran in a jar of urine?

Wonderful! Now we can have a real religious war!! Woot!

Isn't that Idolatry? Which is a pretty big no no and something the prophet Muhammad wanted to end.

Geetafookottahee.
Are you being a religious troll now?
Trying to score some brownie points with the Islamo bunch?
That's a whole new low trying to hurt Christians like that but your intentions are obvious.

The word of God should be engraved in a persons heart, not on pieces of paper that are worth killing for.

wtf...

Islam is based on judism

what your saying is that a object to them is a manifestation of a God..a totem

or rather, a icon.

that goes completely against the core understanding of all the flavors of the monotheistic religions we have today...

it is just paper...thats it..it is not a god in book format..and if any muslim said that, that would pretty much be blasphemy.

now, it may represent something meaningful to them...like a cross to a christian, or a supermodel picture to a teen, but that doesn't translate into something holy itself.

I know why before even reading

The bible is a complete lie. Its based on the Quran but was translated by the masons they brought it over here to control. everything written in it is based to give them more power. and direct your the wrong way.

The bible came from the Quran so simple sense can deduce that the Quran is the real word from god. The bible came from satan.

Probably this is why burning Quran is bad idea ?
It come back!

Please be aware, sometime the verses gone by themselves, literally and sadly, even from the imam/religious Muslim mind during prayer. Some people witness the words fly up, some other Quran turn blank from their pages. And it didnt happen limited on certain region, sometime it happen worldwide and about same time. Muslims fear this more than any nuke bomb IMHO. Your mass media dont cover this, yet it have very huge impact in the Muslim world.

So you see, you guys dont need to burn Quran, god can pull them back anytime he want and send them back anytime/anyway he want. This is among reasons why I keep to my faith so dearly.

Oh yeah, burning Bible, Torah and Zabur (Psalms?/Zimra) is not an Islamic practice at all, because all of it contain the same god words.
In fact burning a book it not a good idea at all, unless you can remember all its text and knowledge it contain.

I have been agnostic, to christian (through my wife) and back to agnostic.

No matter what, a BOOK is A FREAKING BOOK.

If you are so weak that you cannot stand up against the threat of fear and eternal punishment to find your own truths, well... Then that sucks.

Live an let live. Burning the Quran is NO DIFFERENT than burning the bible. My reason? No matter what YOUR belief may be considering said books, they are JUST BOOKS.

Find your own truths, be strong enough to question your god.

I refuse to worship and serve ANY god who would threaten my life with eternal damnation. However I donnot deny the existence of a god.

This post does not condone the burning of ANY book. I personally believe, if it is written in text, then its worth reading and giving a shot.

Excellent post......... The books, their burning of or not, should have no impact on someone's belief. It's not my problem that a Muslim or Christian or a Jew thinks that the actual physical book is somehow the manifestation of their God. It is a book........probably made of recycled paper stock of books like Mad Magazine and Porn and the National Enquirer.

You know, I never thought of it like that.... But a damn good point.

I think I will continue to stand on the sidelines of all this fighting. Who else will join me?? Because I really donnot believe that ANY creator god wants to see his children kill each other over their beliefs in him.

Quote from the bible. "In every place of worship, I want men to pray with holy hands lifted up to God, free from anger and controversy" Depending on the translation, it will change.

However if looked at from a religious person without any established affiliation, you will realise that the true meaning is that no matter what you believe *specifically*, if you are worshiping a creator, then thats all that matters.

So, without further ado, lets burn all the book burners!
Just kidding.

They either have lots of money or not enough money, to burn books. I think I'll keep my marshmallow hidden until somebody bring out the meat and BBQ sauce.

.. to deny one book is to deny all .. to deny the word of God . is to deny God... . and that is SIN...

The point I'm trying to make here is that the Qu'ran has a different place in the Islamic Faith then the Bible does in Christian Faith.

I'm not saying that the Qu'ran is their object of worship- it is their direct line to God. For them, the scripture IS their religion, their central Dogma. When someone burns a Qu'ran, they are attacking the entire base of Islamic Faith.

For example, many Muslims spend years memorizing every single verse of their Holy Book. In a typical Muslim household, you will probably find a Qu'ran placed in the center on the top shelf of a book-shelf in the center of their main living room.

A more equal comparison would be to compare the crucifix with the Qu'ran

I'm not giving any justification for burning anything- I am totally against the burning of any religious book ... Just outlining a key misunderstanding in the whole debate- the idea that burning a Bible to Christians is not the same as burning a Qu'ran to Muslims.
