Interesting how the Netherlands ranks so high. I recall many right wing politicains and commentators talking about how everyone there is a lunatic taking drugs. People there seem to be political active; that is why they have so many freedoms.

Oh, I'm not saying you did, but it has been said.

Ha...I know.

I've never heard that before though...I suppose I need to keep up with my stereotypes and generalizations. How could I fall behind in such an important issue!

I think is is because of their relaxed stance on drugs. You can go into some coffee shops and smoke a fat one, you order it like ordering your coffee.

I think because the drug industry is goverment controlled in Holland, that is the reason they ranked so high, sorry no pun intended.

First of all i dont know that O reilley guy ,but my god what a douch

I live in Holland and think its one of the safest countries on the planet, sure there is crime here but i never heard of some lunatic walking up to a school and shoot up the entire cafateria.there is a no gun law here so murders are pretty low
the worst thing that can happen to you in amsterdam is that someone picks your pocket, thats it.
So dont buy what they are telling you

Everyone is laidback ,well almost everyone.

And about the famous Coffeeshops, drugs its illegal just as in any country, but they installed de "gedoogdbeleid"
which loosly means, the gov knows were gonna do it anyways so you can better do it in a controlled invirement.
you are allowed to buy the weed, the coffeeshop can sell the weed but the coffeeshop cant buy the weed because growing weed is illegal, very strange but it works.

you are allowed to own 5 plants in youir home for own use.

I dont know if this makes sense to anyone outside of holland but just want to clear this up,

By the way, only about 700.000 people do it on a regular basis ive read somewhere out of 17.000.000 so to say were a buch of drug smoking lunatics goes a bit far i think.
The majority is tourist ,i guess that douch was right on that point

You know what they say,one joint a day keeps the doctor away

So much for the UK-US and how they are the world’s greatest and the Nordic countries are cesspools of Socialism, failed governance, no freedom and an oppressive government.

Very Cold Northern European countries no one cares about:

1 Finland
2 Switzerland
3 Sweden
5 Luxembourg
6 Norway
8 Netherlands
10 Denmark

If you are an American, you amply demonstrate the point in the OP that we are lagging behind -- by being so backward. Have you been to Switzerland? How the hell does it qualify as "Northern European Country"? Take your ignorance some place else, it's disgusting.

I've been visiting Switzerland for the past 20 years and it's a swell place to be. On the same note, despite what your ignorant self is claiming, Lux is not a Nordic country and is really cool as well. Denmark? Not so cold after all. Same as Germany, basically.

Sheesh...

www.youtube.com...

And I know a joke when I see one.

Please. The only good thing to come out of Australia is those Thunder from Down Under guys.
Hmmm, Crowded House were pretty good. Then there's Dame Edna. Steve Irwin was a bit of a dick, but his heart was in the right place. Did you ever see any of Paul Hogan's comedy before he became a complete dick? Used to make me laugh anyway... hmmm, just where was he when he did become a dick? Oh yeah, twas the USA wasn't it?
While we're on the subject, everyone outside the USA knows that American Football is for pussies that cant play contact sport without wads of padding & helmets &, despite that protection, cant play without stopping & changing the team every few minutes &, who also would fill their shorts with something unpleasant if they had to play a game of Rugby. But have you ever seen Aussie Rules Football?
Now, I have before & reckon I could still take a good kicking, but I'd be nervous about going onto a pitch to "play" that game...

Sorry. I gotta call bull-sh** on this by roughly quoting /paraphrasing a quote from one of my favorite movies: "Thank you for smoking" --->

"Why is america the best....... son, do you know what bs is? questions like this were made for bs. Is there a best country? and if so how do you define the best country?"

You also have really low rates of rape & violent assault over there too, if I remember correctly. I love the place!
I'd have probably moved there if it wasn't that I find the language so difficult. Still, I may yet...

Sadly, "economic dynamism" seems to be a euphamism for plenty of people regularly going out of business & being forced to borrow more money to get something else going...
Still, add that to teenage pregnancy, the % of population in jail, etc etc... Anyone can see that the UK rocks!

I'd have to disagree. I go there sometimes for work &, whilst it seems cool enough for well off people who dont mind some of the most restrictive laws governing ordinary behaviour that I've ever come across, for the poor &/or unconventional, it seems pretty rough.

Nope. Australia has operated an openly racist immigration policy until the latter part of the 20th century.

Dubbed the "White Australia" policy, the Immigration Restriction Act was the first piece of legislation of any significance submitted to Australia's first Parliament in 1901.

Wow, someone's a little behind on the times. A quick Google would have shown you the Wikipedia page for "White Australia Policy"....

en.wikipedia.org...

The policy was dismantled in stages by successive governments after the conclusion of World War II, with the encouragement of first non-British and later non-white immigration. From 1973 on, the White Australia policy was for all practical purposes defunct, and in 1975 the Australian government passed the Racial Discrimination Act, which made racially-based selection criteria illegal.

en.wikipedia.org...

As for your comments on the cold European countries, my god man that is one of the greatest displays of ignorance and intolerance I have seen in a long while. Just because YOU don't like the cold, doesn't mean others don't want to live there. You are not the be-all and end-all of everything, as much as you seem to think you are.
