Counterterrorist Pursuit Team: 3,000 Man CIA Paramilitary Force Hunts Militants In Afghanistan, Pakistan

WASHINGTON — The CIA has trained and bankrolled a well-paid force of elite Afghan paramilitaries for nearly eight years to hunt al-Qaida and the Taliban for the CIA, according to current and former U.S. officials.

Modeled after U.S. special forces, the Counterterrorist Pursuit Team was set up in the months following the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan in 2002 to penetrate territory controlled by the Taliban and al-Qaida and target militants for interrogations by CIA officials.

Well.....what we all have known is now fact. Regular CIA tactics at work again to de-stablize an entire region, leave no trail of command chain and therefore no responsibility. Pay waring factions less per month for life and blood, then most westerners make in 1-3 days for flipping burgers / fielding irate customers at a call center.

I'm sure the same structure of people, in both locations (West / Afgani) are the ones that were there during the CIA involvement hindering the Russian invasion and are the ones calling the shots now. If only the government had stepped in after the Russians left and built the schools, hospitals, infrastructure then........we would not be there and most likely would not have a "war on terror".

This is worst the Nam in expenditure, lives lost, and responsibility ( not ours of course...with new smart weapons, we don't die at a high rate...just the locals) and will have bigger, longer consequences.

Instead of investing in other fuel sources and resources, we spend many times more fighting / invading other territories trying to control them.

In reality, the CIA has been in Afghanistan since 1980. This is their playground. Take everything we learned in Afghanistan......send it out to Central America, South America, East Asia, various African countries, mix it all together and bring it back in 2000

The same thing will happen in Iraq......not only will the US be stuck there (by design) for years, it will have to come back again, in greater force, for many, many more years.

New weapons have to be tested in real life situations to be evaluated correctly.

The CIA is a terrorist organization and should be killed where ever they are found, they should be hanged if convicted of being part of the CIA.

In 2009, 44 predator strikes carried out by the CIA in the tribal areas of Pakistan struck only five of their intended al Qa'eda and Taliban targets, but more than 700 innocent civilians also died, according to Pakistani authorities.
