WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Robert Byrd, seeking to fire up an important part of his support base ahead of November's elections, told White leaders on Saturday he wanted their support to "push the power" he was delivering.

The words of the White president showed a deliberate effort to recapture the enthusiasm that had helped him win the White House in 2008, after polls showed White Americans much less likely to vote than others this year.

Alright folks, what if that was the article instead of this one?

Obama urges blacks to vote and "guard the change"

Gee, I didn't know that Obama was President in 2008! Wow.
Just wow.

Knee jerk reaction would be I thought only black caucus members wore blck suits, with bow ties, funny little hats (sometimes), big framed glasses, and had thugs stand behind them trying to look intimidating while they spoke out against us white devils.........but that would just be a kne jerk reaction, In reality they look dress and act independantly, but all have the same goal of power over other races.....interesting comparisson though.

OK here's your agenda. And no apologies here.
You are obviously white and not over 40. You weren't around nor saw anything that had to do with Civil Rights did you? Of course not. For some reason you think that black people always had rights in this country and I guess you think women did too - which means you suffer from the lack of learning history. It wasn't until the 14 - 19 amendments came about change these things and white males no longer had the Absolute Majority.
But they still have the majority. This is why caucus had to be established, because there was not a majority interest in the minority problem. (Note you left out woman's caucus: www.womenspolicy.org... ) But people like you are not happy until you feel important by starting lies and this is a blatant lie.
Until your kind is lynched in the streets and set on fire, please please stop. White people have never had a darn thing to worry about in this country and you still don't. This is paranoia pure and simple and there is no hypocrisy unless you look at your own deliberate fanning of hatred here.
Oh and what you called a knee jerk reaction wasn't - that was racist pure and simple.

Never thought Bill Clinton was a Republican there Janky.

Who was it that passed GATT and NAFTA?

That's a cute way to spin it... unless you look at the Congressional votes which shows

over 3/4ths - that is 33 out of 43 Republicans voted for NAFTA

Can I call Clinton a conservative like Bush is a liberal
or is that a one way street?

No, they are both POS that want power and control centralized in the federal government. Of course now Clinton is looking forward to the Globalization effort.

I would call them both statists. At least Bush has the common decency to hide out at the Ranch instead of pushing the Clinton Globalization Initiative.

Um nope, over 40, yup white........so, I should be lynched for stating the obvious........and pointing out how someone dresses is racist? Get a grip and continue with your apologist ways, but suggesting someone be lynched for their opinion of the facts surrounding this isn't gonna win you any points, well maybe a few from the usual suspects. Have a nice day.

I think you have a point on why a minority organization like the black caucus, a trade union or even a women's group could come into existence for a good cause. That is, to insure that no race is discriminated against, people are not exploited by their corporate bosses, or that women can break through the glass ceiling.
But, when you have a headache, you take an aspirin, or whatever. Do you keep taking the medicine after the headache is gone? No, but if you are an alcoholic, you keep wanting a drink. Now, to the alcoholics.
What we have seen is the few that gain some power as a result of these initiatives for "justice" do not want to relinquish that power after the objective has been accomplished. Not only that, but sometimes the objective changes from one of simple equality, to one of "preferred" status for a minority. Of course, this is all to keep the powerful at work handing out more and more favors to their constituency. For a price, of course.
Trade Union bosses, Black "leaders", Wall Street Power brokers, Lobbyists representing international corporations, AIPAC...,they are all trying to elbow their way in to the public money spigot controlled by "Democrats" and "Republicans", (the "Right" and the "Left", the "Liberals" and the "Conservatives"), all screaming for "fairness"!!!
Which means special treatment. Another drink, bartender.

The fact is this: If every liberal in the country disappeared today 99% of the racism in this country would disappear with them. The left has stoked the flames of racism in the United States for decades only because it encourages "minorities" to mindlessly cast their votes for liberals. What those "minorities" fail to understand is that liberals care nothing about them. They only care about making them a permanent underclass...victims who, like hungry dogs, are forced to wait for scraps to fall off the liberals dinner table for them.

The naked communist in the White House proves that point every time he opens his evil, race bating, tyrannical mouth and these comments are no exception!

This is so far removed from US history and contemporary reality that I'm stunned that anyone could seriously believe it. It's literally beyond comprehension. I realize that the standard Republican line is that there is no racism in the US and never has been, just as there are no social classes, but to say that "liberals" are the cause of racism is laughable, since it existed in this country long before liberalism ever did.

Why is the word white negative? Because the MSM says so?

Its just another scare tactic that holds no weight, kind of like the big scare word out and about today, you know... "socialism".

Its all about ratings and reactions, ads and the dollars they bring in. Either we see through the scare tactics or we let them fan the flames of division.

I think the fact that there are threads like this posted all over the Internet and Republican commentators and politicians regularly say things like this proves that the country still has a race problem--a big one--even though many people totally refuse to admit it. They just wish it would all go away, and now think that the "liberals" somehow invented it, instead of being the people who tried to do something about it.

There were (and are) white slaves.

In the past they were refered to as "indentured servants", "share croppers", and such.

My grand parents on both sides chopped cotton. I'm about as white as you get. Blonde blue eyed!

I'm not speechless at all. Obama's agenda was obvious to all but the dumbest of humankind. From his campaigning through the election and into the presidency. It was very clear what he was doing by utilizing the power of the unions/SEIU/ACORN. No news here. Obama still feels everybody is a racist and he has an ax to grind and he will use the presidency to "get even" in any way he can and he won't bother trying to hide it because nobody will dare call him out on it. If anybody were to call him out on it, the race card would be played by all of the MSM, the administration and the entire democrat party.

y'all didn't scream about Robert Byrd saying what he stated back then? Why are you guys screaming it now about Obama saying it?

Why are white people now playing the race card?
Are we all going to stand around in groups according to color and accuse each other of racism?
There's a surefire way to make sure nothing gets done.
Y'all just keep standing there and screaming racism at each other.
In the meantime, the country will continue to go down the drain.

I don't see why white people are feeling disenfranchised, to be perfectly honest.
Look at the majority of politicians in power right now, and you will still see a majority of white faces.
And I still haven't figured out why any of us give a damn about whether or not Obama is black, white, red, yellow, orange or green.

Can we go back to talking about our tanking economy now?

What's fair is fair.
I never quite understood why the call to racism is allowed only one way. We know that things have been easing as to the level of tensions but there's nothing wrong about defending your turf.
If all the rules are in place and enforced to allow open and free competition, why do I have to be self-victimizing? Why can't I be the super-wealthy elite white guy? I have problems that only the government can fix! I want my senators and representatives passing that tax loophole! I got really big bills to pay for my executive suite, company cars and chauffeurs and my hedge fund took a dump on me!
What about me?
There's nothing wrong with me appealing to my base in Palm Springs and Palm Beach. We stinking rich homeys stick together when we are at the club or the voting booth.
Now about that bail out money...
That's right a black man gave to me. I love this guy!

Do any of us believe in this stuff anymore? It's just another layer of stupidity slapped on the poop sandwich we get served every day. It's a distraction designed to revise our opponents' list. Another imaginary foe fighting for the remains of a pie already ravaged by the wealthy.
So vote for white guys and see how that will advantage you. Has it done so before? Let me know.

You see a majority of white faces because a majority of individuals that run for those positions happen to be white. It has nothing to do with race. And nobody is making a deal out of Obama (did anyone notice his name is Muslim btw?) being black in this thread.
