On September 17, 1787, the U.S. Constition was signed.

As most of us know the USA is in bad trouble these days. We may disagree on the reasons why or the possible solutions, but few (be they kindly- or ill-disposed to the nation) on ATS at least would disagree with this basic fact, I believe.

If you haven't done so in a while and are so inclined, it might be a good time to re-read and reflect on the document a bit:

The Constitution of the Unites States of America

May the nation safely and sanely solve its many problems, constitutional and otherwise.

And may God bless the United States of America in this dark hour of its need.

edit to add portion of constitution and inquiry:

Judgment in Cases of Impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States: but the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgment and Punishment, according to Law.

is this saying the same thing as we would still have to impeach Dick Cheney and/or Bush before they could be held liable and subject to indictiment, trial, judgment and punishment, according to the law? it seems this way to me.
