Pentagon to Investigate Child Porn

(I apologize if this is in the wrong area) This is an article on how the Pentagon is investigating military, civilian DOD, and contractors who have bought child porn. Sadly I have heard of several people in the military (which I am in) who have been caught with child porn. I find it sad that it has taken so long to investigate these people. I find the abuse of children to be intolerable.

well its about time somone did something about these perverts. as bad as child porn is i'd rather them have a few pictures then to act on urges and rape children. both either way its dispicable and intollerable in my book. for once I agree with something the government is doing!

I know right. However, I wonder how deep they will investigate. 20 bucks says that at least one super high ranking person is on the kiddie porn list. I wonder if the government will have the morals to out the high ranking ones too. I feel these people need to be exposed, especially since it is possible that I have worked or am working with some of these people.

The investigations results will never be publicized, because they will discover along the way, information pertaining to government officials being involved with child trafficking. The investigation will then most likely be railroaded (there should be a new term by now). I wish I could say I'm just speculating, but theres been small amounts of information that may lead to such accusations being true. It really is a sick world we live in.

I agree with you that it is a sick world we live in. Sometimes I feel ashamed that as Americans we can't even protect are children, are babies. I know that people in authoritative positions tend to do scandalous things and I am not surprised when I hear of adultery and money stealing, but this sickens me. I also do not understand why this is all over CNN or FOX. I find this to be more important than what religion people believe Obama to be or the next crazy thing Glen Beck or Palin says. But, hey, what do I know, right?

I really can't believe that a person working for the government or anyone for that matter would be so stupid as to pay for child pornography with a credit card for gods sake.
Even after the horrible fact that they bought child porn, the level of stupidity of
A) giving your credit card details to someone who runs a child porn site (there not exactly going to be trust worthy are they?)
B) Using a .mil email address
C) Using a computer Inside a government building to do it.
It boggles the mind

Well it's nice to see the Pentagon taking initative on something that's actually important.

However like most bureaucracies I don't expect very many results.

Maybe we should mail a few copies of " To Catch A Predator" to the Pentagon so they can learn a few things before diving in.

There's no IQ test to be in the military or government.

Where is the oversite in the federal government? If you consider, if a person works in the private sector, in a job with access to the internet, the internet use is heavily monitored. They check emails and what sites a person is going to, along with having software that not only blocks access to the different sites, but has it in their company policies that abusing the system or inappropirate items can result in being terminated. Now most of this software is out and not expensive, so the question has to be where is the oversite and the people who are suppose to be monitoring the use of the equipment? If they are visiting sites like this, are these people trustworthy with actual defense department secrets, could this come back to where a person who is in a position of trust, could be blackmailed to divest secret information?
This is not the first time that this has been reported about such being done, nor it is to be the last, the other question is are they going to learn from this and take steps to preventing such from happening again?

I had a manufacturing company in California, during the 90's we did a lot of work for the DoD, sometimes directly, sometimes through prime contractor.

There were several contracts on which embezzlement occurred, the prime contractor would not pay the account and attempted to keep the funds. I took them to court and was awarded court fees in addition to Interest. The people that orchestrated the embezzlement had high level security clearances, and thought they could do as they pleased. The Dept of Justice stripped their Clearance, and after i was paid out went after them for assorted criminal actions as well. They had done the same to several other companies and threatened some with violence or govt interference of their lives.

I would not be surprised if they ever audited the finances and associated lifestyle of people with high level clearance there would be many many surprises.

Sadly no there is not one and the test you do take to see what jobs you are allowed to do is pretty much a joke. I hate saying since I was in the service, but its the truth. However, please don't forget there are some amazing and wonderful people who do serve, just no all of them.

Prior to getting your collective panties in a bunch you may want to actually attempt to define the terms. It would appear the ONLY distinction between pornography and child pornography is a question of age. Using terms like "Kiddy,Kiddie ' Baby " only muddies the water. Apparently seventeen years eleven months twenty plus days would, under some definitions constitute child porn.
I have no idea why viewing legal or unlawful acts on ones computer would "legitimately" threaten a security clearance other then peoples mass hysteria

I don't know but have heard ,there may be a correlation between viewing pornography and actually engaging ones fantasy. I find that quite a stretch
but if true could certainly place an individual in a position to be blackmailed.
Obviously a security risk but again seems kind of reaching under the guise of security. NO ! I do not champion " Kiddy, Baby " porn. It is exceeding disturbing and borders on evil. My concern is with the broad popular definition of
the word " Child ". TPTB always hang their hats on terrorism & child porn to further their prying eyes.

There is an age limit in porn to stop child exploitation within the sex industry, it has to be placed somewhere and in the USA that age is 18. It doesn't matter a damn if the person if the video is 17 and 11months It is a crime.

The fact that a company uses underage people in porn also means that they are presumably not following other pornography regulations like getting the written consent of the people involved, this regulation is there to prevent people being raped, filmed and sold for porn.

Even if you take away this age discussion, these people used military computers and email addresses in the process of committing a serious crime, I don't see how that couldn't be a security problem.

Actually I think one would be hard put to find actual child porn on the internet anymore, these guys are underground, and they mostly buy through the mails. As a Webmaster I am always on the look for child porn, not to post on my site, but to turn in to the FBI. By the way, it has been rumoured that FBI and CIA are placing links up for child porn, if you click they come arrest you. Ever notice when a whistle blower comes out he is accused of having child porn on his computer? I think that is set up to discredit the people. Talk to anyone who spends time surfing for porn, they will tell you it is practically non existent on the net.
Even the "Young," and "Barely Legal" models have statements on file certifying they are at least 18 years old, which is the law.

They had been acting on information from the Metropolitan Police that someone at that address had used a credit card to gain access to a website which contained indecent images of children.

Prosecutors say they identified Seiver as the subscriber of the website, and authorities searched his home on August 24th.
