While reading this thread and noting that many claim she is insane because of religious beliefs it came to mind that no one mentioned the insanity of the majority of politicians holding the interests of corporations and bankers above the interests of the people. If the politicians already know how to please themselves then why am I voting?

No, I take that back. I think from now on I'll just abstain from all immoral activities and stop voting. If the insanity is going to continue no matter who is in office then clearly our right to vote is just a superficial formality.

This response also goes to everyone who has responded to me since my last post. On my phone so i can't copy and paste everyone's names and I sure don't want this thread title in my browser history at work.

I'm not defending her views, i think they're rather old-fashioned. However, if you'd asked me 20 years ago what i thought of any sexual activity I'd have looked at you like you had two heads and said "Eew.. People do that?" Opinions can change and often do. I'm also not defending our supporting her coming at it from a religious angle like she did in that video. I just recognize and respect her right to believe what she wants to, regardless if how silly and/or wrong I may think those beliefs are.

What I find ridiculous is that this is the best anyone could come up with on her and I'm somehow supposed to be shocked and outraged that a girl in her late teens or early twenties thought people should abstain from every form if sexual activity until they get married? Somehow I'm supposed to believe that her thoughts on masturbation will color her opinion on political issues? I just don't see it and I'm highly amused by this thread. People are acting like she was trying to legislate this twenty years ago when all she did was join a group that shared her religious beliefs and then agree to be interviewed on camera about it.

Interesting hypothesis that the woman is concerned about male masturbation, that it would reduce her power and attractiveness. Is she the sort that wants to manipulate men? What is her character?

Well if she doesn't appreciate masturbation, then she certainly has no business in the US Congress.

Again, you can look at this at the face value or look at this in the broad perspective.

She seems to have a thing about social conservatism. She likely holds many stances that just don't make sense and at times, are obscene.

Her fiscal views I have no problem with, in fact I agree with most of it or at least some of it. But as far as her social views go, which are rather hard to find I might add, they are likely in the extreme. Such as this.

Well she says as much at the end of the vid. But I can understand why a woman would have problems with this. But hay them chicks maturbate to!

The truth is being around a babe like that and not being able to score may drive boyfriend into a compulsive frenzy and if there is petting going on. Maybe some young women in these abstience situations feel some guilt if they thought the guy was masturbating or some repulsion even. It could run the gamit.

There are some things to be said here from a biblical frame. Like Paul says its better to get hitched than to burn. So this burning thing (sex drive) is seen as a problem and a reality and is not called "unclean" as many sects of christanity have it. Its just called a reality. Paul did not drag the issue down into a discuss on masturbation however. And he sure understood that it went on....its clear that he understood that this was a small private matter really and not worth going into any further than that. He already had his hands full with the foreskin issue.

I have to say that US politics is often stifled and hobbled (in my opinion) by the aggressiveness of each party to demean and discredit the other side. There is so much concentration on the person that the policies are overlooked and ignored. Unfortunately, the same politician bashing intruded on Bush and is also at the fore against Obama who seems to be the target of a persistent and noxious mix that even questions his place of birth for heaven’s sake.

Besides, at this time I would vote for a politician who was not a w*nker over any other type!
