While I frown at people who hold these kinds of beliefs I don't think her stance on masturbation years ago will have an impact on her representation. To be frank I don't recall her bringing the issue of 'masturbation' up again, neither do I believe such a bogus belief will get an ear in DC, so there is no need to worry. I believe what is real concerning was her comments that we should 'consider military action against Iran in 2006, she also wants to open more land and ocean for drilling around this country as opposed to focusing on cutting taxes on alternative fuels, on tax cuts and government support for research over more alternative fuels, technologies. Also her idea that cutting all medical support, including medicare, medicaid, and leaving it all to the free markets, as if that was not the issue for health cost rises? And her stance on keeping troops in Iraq until the government there corrects itself? I believed in transitional two year withdrawal, not for our troops to stay there 10 years or more for the goverment and society there to stabilize.

There are more relevant issues on the woman and other candidates believe me. I think all this focus on her specifically and over this issue is irrelevant. In my opinion she is no different from any other Republican politician that ran their campaign at the start. Sarah Palin is media gold, this is why O'donnell is in the spotlight. Palin has really become irrelevant so I do not see the point?

It's not her opinion about masturbation that was expressed 14 years ago that is the issue here. The big picture is that she is the founder of the evangelical Savior's Alliance for Lifting the Truth, and served as a spokesperson for Concerned Women for America which seeks to apply biblical values to matters of foreign and domestic policy.

Small government? Sounds like another theocrat to me.

She's saying masturbation is wrong. You really want that kind of person in any kind of authority...of anything? Sorry, but I'm not a slave nor anyone else on here, we're individuals and damnit, if we feel like having a night to ourselves, so be it.

We don't need some bimbo to tell us what's wrong and what's not. Thanks.

Masturbation ... i dont know but some priest .. should reconsider abusing young childrens
because their human body is in a day your hormones make you feel horny...
every humans in their life was attracted to someone someday....thats for sure at 99.9%
its a human natural instinct .. its not coming from the soul... its not wrong when properly used
since it doesnt harm anyone .. its a small small sin yes but its not Evil... our body is like that
we have to accept it

the human body is weak for that reasons...you need to be extremelly good at meditating/concentrating...
you will need to walk a deep spiritual path to wipe out those humans little sins
like i said the human body is weak because we can start many routine addictions very fast
some can masturbate...smoke...drink alcool...swear sometimes...etc etc
the evil dark side exploit those addiction to the worst ..thats why we need to moderate ourself .. balance ourselfs
if some religious priest can abuse sexually childrens while their serve the name of God .. then its a proof
that Evil do exist and he exploit the human mind before the soul...

the Vatican should make a law about this rule of abstinence to avoid anymore pedophile evil priest....
Masturbation allowed for all priest ..
i dont understand HOW CAN A HOLY PRIEST can thoughs about sexually touching a child
why they didnt go into their room..pick up some kleenex .. and after 5 min put it down the toilette.. THATS IT
no more high sexual hormones for today ..childrens will be safe
damn the humans mind can be weak

im not perfect myself..but even the thoughs of abusing someone someday of any age because of my sexual human silly instinct ...is DENIED

even a drunk cute lady .. my mind and soul would never allow my human body to abuse a person
i was born with those basic principal values
why the "messenger of God" cant be like that .. ?? im stupified that hundred of priests are pedophile...
there is a Evil conspiracy somewhere that possess priest .. its fishy

The republican primarys are all about one upping their opponent on how extremely fringe they are..this is the trend.
The loud minority has won the day on that side of the fence...but I suspect this is going to backfire in a big way...the loudest group is not necessarily the best group to put in front...people in mass are generally center and the more any side goes too far one way or the other, they become unelectable...

There is no such thing as normal; and you'll never find someone who isn't religious in some way. You think you'll ever see an openly atheist, HA even an openly agnostic person in any office above councilman or mayor?

In the land of tolerance and freedom from persecution do you think it wise to call people who are religious abnormal? Most of the world is religious.

Actually, I feel this is important information that voters would want to know. I mean come on, if she thinks Masturbation is wrong can you image what would happen if she were ever elected?

This person is as brainwashed as they come... (Pun intended) lol

Really? So you've had the exact same opinion in everything for the last 20 years, and your opinion on sexual activities prior to marriage somehow factors into your thoughts about national debt, foreign policy, unemployment, health care, bailouts, taxes, immigration, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, etc. ad infinitum.? That's odd. How strange it must be to not be able to form an opinion on anything without sex, or the lack thereof, factoring in somewhere...

You know, I don't even hate the tea party but she is certainly on the far end of the religious-political whacko association.

If she was say, like Ron Paul, who while rather religious doesn't bring in much, if any, religious rhetoric when it comes to his policies, there wouldn't be a problem. But at times she sounds like an evangelical preacher.

She clearly borrows from the Palin guidebook of tea party politics, and that guidebook takes liberal use of Christian political rhetoric.

Anyone whom thinks masterbation is wrong at any point in thier life has a warped sence of reality. Do you want someone with a warped sense of reality in charge of any area of public policy?

Why so adamant in her defense?
It's not about the masturbation thing, it's about her fundamentalist Christian view of the world.
To act as if that's not relevant is silly. That would be a principle reason why many would vote FOR her, as well as against her. I thought the video was hilarious in itself, but I'm more concerned about fringe religious folks assuming power over the rest of us. Does she intend to uphold the separation of church and state, or apply Biblical principles?

I was aghast at this clip when I first saw it. I do not agree with her at all.

After some more reflection, however, I'm not sure that a person's individual religious beliefs should be a deciding factor in who one votes for. If she personally and privately wants to practice sexual "purity" maybe she should be entitled to.

After all, many legislators hold religious positions that I don't agree with but I still think they are capable of making rational decisions. I also ponder the fact that there were many people who didn't vote for JFK because he was Catholic and some people thought he would consult the Pope on every decision, thus making the Pope equal to the President of the United States in power. As it turned out he did not. There are several other examples I can think of.

What gives me pause, however, is that fundamentalists are very inclined to mix their conservative social views with their politics. Because they are social conservatives they tend to support politically conservative positions as well, even when it is against their best interests to do so.

I conclude that I wouldn't vote for Christine (aptly named I guess) because she is too politically conservative for me.

Nevertheless, I concede her right to her personal religious beliefs; she can privately practice her own set of moral standards if she wishes to. We must also be vigilant about protecting the right to freedom of speech and not just trash a person for holding views that are contrary to our own.

As I said elsewhere, if by abstaining from masturbation she learns discipline that carries over in other aspects of her life, who cares.

Tibetan priest are celibate,
if you can be master over the seemingly small areas of your life, then perhaps you can make healthy choices when faced with the larger decisions like premarital sex, or drug use, of course we all know that in our society anything is ok now days.

It's not the sex that people are concerned about, it's the appearance that she can't form an opinion on anything regarding public policy without fundamentalist Christianity factoring in somewhere.
