I’m not taking sides, just pointing out another example of hypocrisy from those who would blow a gasket if anyone stood in the way of the sending a “picture of a naked girl” around on the internet. Oh no! Not that! Restrict his free speech immediately!

I did not want to include those pictures in this thread. I know the source here is HuffingtonPost.com but I posted this because I live in NY and am seeing this all go down right now. I cannot link to everything and anything so I went with the first source that came up. I could care less if he were a democrat, republican, or any other party but to be sending out emails so boastfully enjoying the use of the N-word as well as beastiailty? Odd, no?

Tell me, have you never sent a piece of email that was uh, let's say, not nice or proper ? Never made a dirty joke, not even once ? Never once made a racial slur to anyone ? If that's all they got on him, well, at least he's not spending the children's future, evangelizing for Islamic terrorists and their victory Mosques, creating death panels for medicine, and taxing the crap out of everyone and everything in sight.

You just do not get it. Yes, I have sent out emails that would most likely keep me from gaining support for public office. That would just be a minor factor in why I do not run. The problem is that there is a wave of racism sweeping this country and it is sick to see in this day and age. The Tea Party insists there are no racists among its ranks but then I see them putting their support behind someone who is such a big fan of the word "'n-word'." I am confused.Death panels and victory mosques? Are you afraid of lepracauns as well?

So, do politicians deserve to be treated differently than anyone else? I also may have smoked some pot in my days, does that mean this guy can sit back and light up while on the clock...show up to rallys and governmental functions (if elected) stoned with no worries? I also enjoy sex...does that mean this guy can hire prostitutes to work out of the political offices?

I don't mind the smut the guy has, I dont care about that...what is disturbing is the racist crap. That shows his true colors. Ya, the guy likes sex...big deal, who doesn't...but the monkey thing, the N word, etc etc etc...its a klansman in a suit, pure and simple. We have evolved past the 1950s, is the tea party the lets bring back the haydays of segregation party?

I want elected officials going to Washington to repeal all the BS that has happened the last oh about 6 years. Bailouts, Stimulus, Healthcare, a defined achievable goal in the overseas wars, etc. I don't care if that person sounds out every single joke forward E-mail that they have ever seen. It isn't like he CREATED a racist picture of Obama and then E-mailed all his racist friends. He got one in his inbox and forwarded it on. I don't care. In my past I have forwarded on things that I shouldn't have, does that mean my political views are nullified? Am I a racist against Poland for laughing at Polish jokes? It's the standard liberal agenda, attack the person not the policies.

This might speak to the persistent disconnect with the American public the far-right continues to be mystified by.

The vast majority of Americans do not throw the N word around in private conversation or emails. I understand it might seem that thye do if you are surrounded by folks that do, but believe it or not most Americans are offended by racism and racist slurs.

So do your standadrs only apply to those you oppose politcally, or all? Funny, his racism since in office has been rather out in the open and blatant as well.......I guess since he is a dem, and half black he gets a pass........care to bet if people vote on him again, even though he now appears even more racist, if he runs again?

I'm rather disinclined to believe anything coming from the Huffington Post. They have an agenda to push and don't bother trying to hide it. Not to mention we have no actual proof he did what they claim side from one "reporter's" say so.

That being said, if he sent those emails from his work email then yeah it's an issue in that he was misusing resources. Does forwarding those automatically make him racist or mean he's into bestiality? No, I don't think it does. I've shown my husband some very off color things just because I thought it was disturbing, not because I agreed with them.

To the ops quesyion, nope, I don't think the problem with him is the e mails, nor the racism, his problem is he got caught, isnt that what happens in politics.....you get caught? Truth is, we all have our own little secrets......his just got exposed.

Yep, he got caught. I wouldn't neccessarily call it a "dirty little secret"...he sent hundreds of these emails out and sent them to professional colleugues.

That said, once a politician is exposed the question the voter should ask is..is it relevant?

Porn? Who cares if he views porn as long as it is not pedophilia. I have looked at average porn. Not neccessarily proud of it, but not going to lie about it either.

Racist material? He has to represent everyone and I think his forwarding of racist material to a whole lot of folks not only reflects his endorsement of that humor, but makes it difficult for him to claim to represent everyone in his district.

It also speaks to hypocracy...forwarding an email of a woman having sex with a horse, to a whole lot of folks, ditto with racist emails, birther emails etc. while running on a conservative family values platform..well I would think twice before trusting him with office given the contrast between what he tells voters and how he acts in real life.
