The difference is that in your example I would be insulting people, not a belief system. What I am stating is that you are equating one person directly mistreating another person on a personal level ("You stupid moron!") with somebody insulting a Belief System ("People that believe in Ghosts are stupid").

As for your furthering the lie that touching someone is not assault, I will just PROVE you wrong on that part.
