I'm still remembering the last TV attempt at disclosure (perhaps)...
In the 80's, there were specials called "UFO CoverUp Live!" (you can likely find these online now)
In my market, the last 30 min or so of it was cut, and it went to infomercials.
Prior to the show, there were going to be local news reports of reactions, etc.
Then....NOTHING. No stories, not even in the paper the next day, etc. Like it never happened.
Granted, most of the material in the specials is now what we'd refer to as info from the "Aviary" group (alleged insiders using bird monikers as
codenames), but sure was weird how it played out then.
Info such as alien biology, their origin, you name it (and of course, that they liked strawberry ice cream and Tibetan monk music)....so many laughed
And before wide use of the internet, etc., this kind of clampdown was a lot easier than it would be today.
