Was the end of the world prevented -- in 1945?, page

I have an uncle who told me the following, during a long sit in the living room having drinks and eating chips & dip while watching last year's Super Bowl. (I come from a family of big football fans ) I'm relaying it to you because I find it to be an interesting theory, and I don't know enough about the Bible or Revelations to back up his ideas -- or shoot them down, as it were.

So, help me out! I'm not trying to do either; just testing the waters to see what other people think about his idea... So, here it is!

First, he says that Revelations tells of how the world will end if the Anti-Christ is allowed to conquer the Earth -- but that the end of the world is not guaranteed; only that it is stated that the world will end if the Anti-Christ conquers Earth. He says that this was the ultimate test of humanity, and if we had failed, the world would have ended in destruction...

In short, Adolf Hitler WAS the Anti-Christ, and World War II was the "Battle of Armageddon". If Hitler's Nazis had developed nuclear weapons first, they would have carpet bombed the surface of the Earth in an attempt to rid of the world of "imperfect" people and conquer the whole planet. (Just like Hitler attacked his former "ally" the USSR, he also had plans to attack his "ally" Japan after he had a nuclear arsenal to use at will.) Fortunately, the Allies developed nuclear weapons first, and ended Hitler's reign of madness (which lasted 7 years, by the way -- 1939 to 1945). Because we were able to beat the Anti-Christ in World War II, the Earth will live on, and God knows that we are capable of exploring the stars now.

Sounds nice, doens't it? It's the first religious prediction I'd ever heard that wasn't all doom and gloom. BTW, he also said that all the colorful descriptions in Revelations were the modern technology used in World War II that the author (was it Paul?) didn't understand what he was seeing in his visions...

So, there you have it. What do you think? Is my uncle onto something, or has he had one too many Miller Lites?

The only half truth in that story is that Hitler intended to Nuke New York and possibly Maryland. In an attempt to get the US to Capitulate and retreat from Europe, until such time that he had regained the naval strength to "invade" the US, which he had hoped would be unchallenged for fear of another Nuke attack on a major city. Hitler would not have carpet bombed the planet as that would ensure his own destruction. Nor did the Germans have the processing resources to build enough Nukes to accomplish that, as it was building just two bombs would have required massive amounts of resources to be diverted to the assembly of the first nukes and would limit the already damaged war industry in Germany to depoly additional ground and air armorments. This was the error in Hitlers planning that he did not continue the production of war machinery after he a massed the intial inventories. Had he continued with the massive rate of production throughout the "conquest" years his airpower would have been unmatched and the ground armorment would have been almost unstoppable. Certain decision, like the attack of Stalingrad and Moscow out of spite and blantant disregard for any strategic planning further accelerated the atttrition of the German military allowing the US and Allied forces to beat back the Germans from their controlled territories. While the US was tipped off that the Germans were developing the bomb, the US made it high priority to capture the German scientists and to give them a "cushy" option to come to America where the US employed them to continue the development of the bomb on behalf of the US.

The Germans wanted to nuke (A) US city in a last ditch effort to gain time to rebuild their forces and to bring their new airframe production plants online that were transported into the Alps and into parts of Russia.

Revelations is a warning to mankind to be weary of wondering off the path of GOD. If we do, then that will open the pandoras box of "Evil" and man kind will fall to acts of great wickedness.

And I doubt that Hitler was the Anti-Christ. neat idea, but lacking on so many levels.

I am curious how you developed this line of reasoning.
