Whilst shopping with my daughters today, i noticed a company offering art with a difference....

Imagine your very own personal portrait – but using i-pixx smart technology we can make it truly personal! We specialise in creating stunning and unique portraits using your very own genetic DNA code, Fingerprint or even Kiss! Using canvas, metal or perspex we guarantee our products are totally individual!

Yep, you decide what picture you want to use (if you want to use a picture), and ipixx will send you a DNA or fingerprint kit out, so you can give yourself a swab or ink up those fingers and let them do the rest.

i-pixx works in partnership with the highly respected UK laboratory, DNA Worldwide, to portray your genetic DNA code in a number of ground breaking and spectacular ways.

This company uses DNA Worldwide to do the science part. DNA Worldwide also do testing for immigration, forensics, paternity and relationship testing. Pretty much what you'd expect from a DNA testing service.

My only question about it, not that i would get it done, is "What do they do with your DNA afterwards?".

Other companies state that the DNA is used up in the test, others say that if you want to be tested, you have to sign a release to say that they can use your sample for "other genetic testing". The "other genetic testing" comment was from another DNA testing site talking about other sites, so they could just be trying to put down rival companies. I'll do some digging and find out more.

Anyway i thought i'd share it with you, funnily enough the first thing i thought of when i saw the promotion table in my local shopping centre was ATS.

I know how some people like to think our DNA is being stored by everyone and anyone, i just thought this would make for some pleasant discussion here.

So then....innocent or nefarious?

I'm going to go for an innocent gimmick to con you out of hundreds of pound for a picture.

Possibly just another way to get everyone's DNA stored.

Maybe to sort out the good from the bad?

Honestly that's just my opinion which might not be a good one, but makes sense to me.

*By sending in the Enclosed Sample you agree to let us, I-Pixx Inc. and any other 3rd Party to store the DNA enclosed in the event needed to incriminate you.

I am an artist and this is not art in my opinion - I am very sceptical as to wether this company is a front for gathering information. The gathering of of Bio Metric Scans, DNA etc has dubious and dark overtones attatched to it.
Whats next - Designer Micro Chip Inplants.
If you want a truly unique painting which represents you ask a real artist not some faceless techno company.

Is it that they will request payment upon you sending samples - did it ask for your email or other details?

reply to post by artistpoet

It asked for email when making required account.

If they do request payment on sending of sample that would be wastefull as some people may not return samples.

They are based in the UK.
