The President's own words, laid out in his books before he sought any office, may explain why those who adored him are disappointed, and those who feared him are convinced they were right.
It appears that the "Dreams of [his] Father" are the key to understanding Barack Obama's actions as President, and what he sees as the future of America and American government.

Theories abound to explain the President's goals and actions. Critics in the business community--including some Obama voters who now have buyer's remorse--tend to focus on two main themes. The first is that Obama is clueless about business. The second is that Obama is a socialist--not an out-and-out Marxist, but something of a European-style socialist, with a penchant for leveling and government redistribution.
These theories aren't wrong so much as they are inadequate. Even if they could account for Obama's domestic policy, they cannot explain his foreign policy. The real problem with Obama is worse--much worse.
www.forbes.com...
With election season uponus, we are getting a reminder of “the Campaigner Obama,” whose rhetoric once galvanized and energized a core of liberal American support as it never had been before.
It also brings to mind the warnings that I and others had tried to spread that all was not as it seemed with Barack Obama II. More than once, I have implored those who seek to understand his true motivations and aspirations to read and contemplate Obama’s past; both as a politician and as an author.
Today, many once avid, if not rabid, followers are disillusioned. Those who saw in him a threat to American greatness and leadership, and as an antagonist, at best, of capitalism and free markets have seen their worst fears and predictions realized.
Dinesh D’Souza, a conservative scholar and author, has provided what may be the best insight into what, exactly, shapes Barack Obama’s vision and plans for his presidential agenda and the future of this country. It will ring true to those on both sides, and will reveal the underlying agenda driving Obama in his “transformation” of America.

What then is Obama's dream? We don't have to speculate because the President tells us himself in his autobiography, Dreams from My Father. According to Obama, his dream is his father's dream. Notice that his title is not Dreams of My Father but rather Dreams from My Father. Obama isn't writing about his father's dreams; he is writing about the dreams he received from his father.

How Obama Thinks

As he related in his first book, President Obama's life and goals are driven by the “Dreams From My Father,” Barack Obama, Sr.:
D’Souza sums it up thusly:

Clearly the anticolonial ideology of Barack Obama Sr. goes a long way to explain the actions and policies of his son in the Oval Office. And we can be doubly sure about his father's influence because those who know Obama well testify to it. His "granny" Sarah Obama (not his real grandmother but one of his grandfather's other wives) told Newsweek, "I look at him and I see all the same things--he has taken everything from his father. The son is realizing everything the father wanted. The dreams of the father are still alive in the son."

How Obama Thinks

We can trace the elder Obama’s life as an anti-colonial leader and activist, showing how the focus of his rage against “imperial” governments shifted from the Europeans to the United States; and, how these feelings have colored and influenced all of his son’s actions as an adult, in and out of government. In fact, you could take some of the father’s own words, and easily work them into one of the son’s speeches:

"We need to eliminate power structures that have been built through excessive accumulation so that not only a few individuals shall control a vast magnitude of resources as is the case now."
The senior Obama proposed that the state confiscate private land and raise taxes with no upper limit. In fact, he insisted that "theoretically there is nothing that can stop the government from taxing 100% of income so long as the people get benefits from the government commensurate with their income which is taxed."
Remarkably, President Obama, who knows his father's history very well, has never mentioned his father's article. Even more remarkably, there has been virtually no reporting on a document that seems directly relevant to what the junior Obama is doing in the White House.

Do his father’s views really fit in with Obama’s present-day principles?

From a very young age and through his formative years, Obama learned to see America as a force for global domination and destruction. He came to view America's military as an instrument of neocolonial occupation. He adopted his father's position that capitalism and free markets are code words for economic plunder. Obama grew to perceive the rich as an oppressive class, a kind of neocolonial power within America. In his worldview, profits are a measure of how effectively you have ripped off the rest of society, and America's power in the world is a measure of how selfishly it consumes the globe's resources and how ruthlessly it bullies and dominates the rest of the planet.
For Obama, the solutions are simple. He must work to wring the neocolonialism out of America and the West.

Now, we have a conservative scholar laying out, in simple terms, not only where Barack Obama comes from, but where he plans to take us, and the rest of the world.

It’s not too late to gain a deeper understanding of the man in the office of the Chief Executive of the United States. It may be too late to do much about it, though.

I have a good friend who was telling me a few weeks ago: "Who is this person? This is not the man I voted for! What's going on??" I gently informed her that-YES, it was. He's made no bones about what he believes and anyone who spent 30 minutes researching the guy could have (and should have) seen this coming......

I know many people who voted based on what they heard instead of who he is/was.

There is a saying I remember from school: "The way to know the Father is the Son," that seems remarkably appropriate, in reverse; especially when he says so in his own words!

"When my tears were finally spent, I felt a calmness wash over me. I felt the circle finally close. I realized that who I was, what I cared about, was no longer just a matter of intellect or obligation, no longer a construct of words. I saw that my life in America--the black life, the white life, the sense of abandonment I'd felt as a boy, the frustration and hope I'd witnessed in Chicago--all of it was connected with this small piece of earth an ocean away, connected by more than the accident of a name or the color of my skin. The pain that I felt was my father's pain. ... I sat at my father's grave and spoke to him through Africa's red soil."

Barack Obama II, "Dreams From My Father"

In this light, everything conservatives intuitively feared seems justified. I would think that many liberals and progressives are still scratching their (collective) heads, as well.

Whatever your politics, neither "the American Dream" nor liberal democracy (in the historic sense) have much place in either Obama's "dreams."

While searching for that quote,I came upon this site, which has a ton of insights into Obama's racism.

www.barackobamawebpage.com...

I was one who spent over 30 minutes checking to see who this guy was before he got elected and I knew it wasn't going to go well for America, and I don't mean just the white people!

Trouble is,we might get another one even worse! I'm not too overly fond of who the previous ones were either, the more I've learned about them!

It's the globalists who are running things, and they have no love for nationalism. America needs to be brought down before it can be assimilated into the NWO.

"The New World Order will have to be built from the bottom up rather than from the top down...but in the end run around national sovereignty, eroding it piece by piece will accomplish much more than the old fashioned frontal assault." CFR member Richard Gardner, writing in the April l974 issue of the CFRs journal, Foreign Affairs.

"But it became clear as time went on that in Mr. Bush's mind the New World Order was founded on a convergence of goals and interests between the U.S. and the Soviet Union, so strong and permanent that they would work as a team through the U.N. Security Council."

And now he finds himself one of them, and the power is blinding him to this fact. He has become the rich elite, and likes it very much. His globe trotting proves as much. I was also reading that he despises the general populace, in particular when they get too close to him. He refuses to allow "common people" to touch him unless it is scripted.

How ironic he becomes that which he despises the most.

There are many things in his books as well as in his father's writings that neither the MSM nor Obama himself will ever acknowledge. He's even expurgated what he doesn't want known from the books when they were made into audio books!.

What's there to hide? Plenty!

Truly ironic. Almost as much so as his "clinging to ... faith" in his address to the Nation today when he invoked "my Christian faith ... ." Will it be guns, Bibles, and "middleclassness," next?

It wasn't that long ago that he humored an elitist crowd by impugning the values of those who truly do have faith, among other things.

This man will say ANYTHING if he believes it will play to his audience and further his agenda.

This post isn't pro Republican or Libertarian. It is about Obama the man; formed by and guided by the neocolonialism and anticolonialism of his father.

If people would bother to read the LINKs in threads before spouting nonsense they might have something constructive to add other than an attack on the post-ers. That would require more forethought and reason than a knee-jerk defense of the messiah.

(That's one reason why the mods require links: so that people who are capable of formulating reasoned argument can contribute and would be better able to judge the basis of the thread, instead of engaging in personal and political attacks.)

If you had read the link, you would've seen Sr.'s ideologies and their reflection in his son. In 1965, he published an article in which he explained his view that state appropriation of wealth was a necessary means to achieve his political objective of taking resources away from the relatively wealthy and restoring them to the people of Africa. The senior Obama saw no problem with state confiscation of private land and taxes with no upper limit. Given that his son sees no problem with similar state intrusions and confiscation/redistribution, the similarities are telling.

"Is it the African who owns this country? If he does, then why should he not control the economic means of growth in this country?"
...
"We need to eliminate power structures that have been built through excessive accumulation so that not only a few individuals shall control a vast magnitude of resources as is the case now. ... [T]heoretically there is nothing that can stop the government from taxing 100% of income so long as the people get benefits from the government commensurate with their income which is taxed."
Barack Obama, Sr., "Problems Facing Our Socialism," East Africa Journal (1965).

If you'd bothered to read the links, you'd have known this and could respond intelligently.

Of course, you chose otherwise.

(If more Democrats had bothered to undertake such an inquiry in 2007 and 2008, I would be willing to bet that Hillary Clinton would've been their nominee.)

deny ignorance

Meh, it's almost funny but that is turning out to be the fatal mistake for their plan.

One planet, one government is such a simple idea that people even here will still stumble into a thread on world government wondering 'uh hey, whats so bad about that idea?'

It was during the relatively prosperous 90s that globalization was not yet the dirty word it has become. Had they opted for peace and prosperity and simply been up front about plans for global integration, it would have been wildly successful.

Now look back on their malevolent, underhanded methods and ask yourself if you think whatever they are up to could ever be a good idea for ordinary people, or if you want people like THAT running the world.

Opposition? Sure, there would still have been people pointing fingers and crying wolf. But the numbers would have been relatively few and thus, there wouldn't have been much more they could have done, other than go find somewhere remote to live out their life. After all, when times are so good, who really cares about 'ideological' concerns?

The science-fiction writer Philip K. Dick made much of the Rome/USA connection, especially in his Valis trillogy. In these books, the theme was that "the empire never ended," and that modern-day people were really living in ancient Rome, at roughly the year 60 AD or so. The entire modern world, according to these books, was an illusion, and almost Satanic trap to make people think they were somewhere else other than where they really were, in Ancient Rome. Every now and then you would see eerie paralells with Rome in modern society, and that was Rome "breaking through" the illusion of modern life. It was a bit like the idea of living in a consensual hallucination explored in "The Matrix" films...except done almost thirty years earlier and with much more subtlty.

Some sources close to Mr. Dick have hinted that he might not have believed this concept to be entirely fictional...

When Obama was running for President, if anyone actually listened to a campaign speech instead of just blindly voting him in, they would have actually heard him say, many times, that "I'm going to do what I think is right for America, not what is necessarily popular". He wasn't shy about saying this several times a day in campaign speeches.

Now people are getting a taste of what Obama thinks is right for America. He's simply following through on a campaign promise, whether or not people actually like it.

Brings me back to the old line "if you're gonna put someone in charge to change things, you'd better like WHAT they're going to change".

It's just like Schwarzenegger saying in 2009. "if California voters don't approve a tax increase in the referendum, we will shut schools, hospitals, lay off teachers, police officers, and government workers". They didn't pass the tax increase, and then the average Californian went on to complain about all the school and hospital closures and teacher, police, and government worker layoffs.

People don't like it when politicians tell them something that the people don't listen to, and actually follow through on their plans afterwards.

The REAL nightmare is Palin/Beck 2012. It could happen. The REALLY, REALLY scary version is that they have enough popular backing amongst far right Republicans and are big enough household names that they would probably win.

November 2012 - USA Election. December 2012 - Aztec "End of the World". Coincidence? I don't think so!
