Is Ingrid Betancourt Out of her mind in her Claim Against Columbia?

I think it is time to talk about the political scandal that the claim of the former Presidential
Candidate Ingrid Betancourt, that was kidnapped for almost a decade by the Terrorist Columbia
Revolutionary forces, against the Columbian State is causing around the world.

This is perhaps a unique case not only for the so sad circumstances in which this Lady, that was many
years senator of Columbia, became isolated in the middle of the Amazonic Jungle by the bandits
of the FARC, but also due to the extraordinary covering that the media did to the news specially due to the fact that Mrs Betancourt has double citizenship French-Columbian.

Now, in this new Chapter of this sage, that does not have anything to envy to any of the nice famous
Columbian novels that were written by many nice authors like Garcia Marquez , Alvaro Mutis, Jorge Isaacs or Jose Eustasio Rivera, we see that slowly there are emerging at least two more versions of the captivity and the
circumtances that drove to it, that makes this story almost unbelievable.

A host that is now demanding precisely the authorities that release her of her so long and suffered drama in the the most unaccessible tropical woods of the world is something that can only happen in an imaginary country like Macondo, almost lost in the last corner of the civilization.

But here the question is What is crossing through the mind of Ingrid Betancourt to demand the Columbian Armed forces, the same that free her from the hands of the bandits of FARC, saying that she was not advised
on time of the risk that represented to travel to such point of the Columbian forest in which it was kidnapped?

The former vicepresident Santos of Columbia claims that the attitude of Ingrid Betancourt is unacceptable and that it seems as a huge treason against the Country that suffered a lot trying to release her, but nothing is impossible in the land of the forgotten as Carlos Vives might say of this case.

As it was expected and as usually as it happens in the incredible magic but real tales of Macondo, finally Ingrid Betancourt decided to droped her suit against the Columbian State, but not before to have suffered one of the worst discredit campaigns against a public figure ever have experienced due to a very polemic decission once taken.

I am wondering what are the credentials of the Lawyer that assisted her in such a project of legal action?

However, it is important to clarify that Yolanda Pulecio, Mother of Ingrid Betancourt, and also a former congress woman of Columbia, publically have disclosed to the media that the legal action was not properly a suit against the Columbian State, but a conciliatory demand and that there is a kind of plot promoted by the goverment to distroy the image of her daughter with all this scandal.

Perhaps Ingrid Betancourt needed a better legal assesment before to procede in this legal action, and as well perhaps she also required it when she decided to follow her political instincts to go to the jungle about 7 years ago.

The point is that either the way in which this event has been showing by the Media or the poor advising of the Lawyer Gabriel Devies is now costing to a former Presidential Candidate and Senator of Columbia practically all her reputation, possibly the only thing she could rescue of her career after all the years that was kidnapped.

One of the worst consequences of this huge mistake in her political career is that now there is a crusade in Columbia to boicott the promotion of the book Mrs Betancourt is publishing of her memories of the long and painful experience abducted in hands of the FARC terrorists.

Yolanda Pulecio a very well known philantropist that have worked almost all her public life in favor of the orfanates and the abandoned children in Bogota, in a country in which traditionally there has been not to many public or private organizations doing something really effective for them.

So , are we now dealing with the memory of one of the most famous abductions of the History, followed by a suit that appearantly looked as incredibly opportunistic or moreover witnessing one of the most incredible plots to destroy the image of a figure that is only trying to rebuild her life after a huge tragic event?

Although we are talking of course of a country with free press, I am wondering if the battle among the government and the Betancourt family in the media of the Southamerican country is not damaging even more the international image of Columbia than the abduction this lady suffered along so many years?

It is quite polemic why she was kidnapped, possibly after all at the end nobody can be blamed of that besides the bandits of the FARC, but how about all the time she spent in captivity without any effective action of the authorities, a person that was many times starving, psicologically tortured and even it looks sexually abused by her captors? I think this is a human being that it is logically emotionally destroyed and is trying to continue her life, to return from the hell to a new begining.

A series of extremly interesting interviews have been granted by Ingrid Betancourt to different media in the week of the official publication of her so waited book of the memories of the horrendus kidnapping she was victim by the FARC in Columbia.

She is also responding the attacks of some politicians, members of the previous Uribe administration about her attempt to demand legally the Columbian state due to apperant negligency of members of the army that supposedly provoked her kidnapping in the Jungles about 8 years ago.
