Apparently the tax payer funded socialist totalitarians you like to call college administrators have decided that the spread of conservationism requires police intervention.

When a group of Young Americans for Liberty recently tried to recruit new members during rush week, the campus police promptly shut their heresy down:

www.orlandopoliticalpress.com...

(Lake Worth, FL) On Tuesday September 7, 2010 at around 11:00am one Palm Beach State College (PBSC) student and two Young Americans for Freedom (YAF) members, state chairman Daniel P. Diaz and state vice chairman Eddie Shaffer, were shut down and had campus police called on them after tabling and recruiting during club rush at the College. The PBSC student, Christina Beattie, had received prior permission from college administrator Olivia Ford-Morris to promote her organization on campus via telephone and email communication.

Prior permission shmire permission, that was before the administrator found out they would be distributing anti-communist literature:

Of course, several groups were present that obtained no formal permission from anyone, yet they were not harassed by campus police.

Common sense says that the most logical time to recruit for new campus groups is during rush week – which is why every other flipping group was allowed to recruit there.

Being in a college young conservative group long ago, more times than not, the club would do things in ways to deliberately inflame other students that didn't share their beliefs. When the cops and eventually the press arrived, they'd use the situation to claim they were the victims.

I'm not saying this is what happened, I'm just saying it is a common tactic (and it is used by both sides). It is designed to make everyone paying half attention to the publicity, make knee-jerk reactions.

One problem...

You claim this is a student conservative group, yet they're passing out material from The Heritage Foundation?

So by conservatives, you mean neo-cons, which you mean statists who use fascist and corporatist rhetoric?

Frankly, I'm surprised they had Heritage foundation literature on hand. While Heritage is not all bad, they certainly aren't the typical institute that YAL turns to. More often than not you'll see them handing out Mises or CATO literature.

They are strong supporters of Ron Paul and the libertarian movement.

All one needs to do is look at the YAL home page to dispel any myths about them being neocons.

Well is the college in question a state or federally funded college? That may be your answer right there.

All accredited colleges are state funded because all accredited colleges accept federal student loans and grants.

Well we cannot have free speech in a communist funded propaganda site now can we?

You know, I never took any of the mandatory Socialist classes they attempted to force down my throat.
I never committed to a degree program so I could just take the courses that would actually help me, instead of the ones used to indoctrinate me. Ever look at the curriculum for degree programs, half the damn classes do nothing except attempt to indoctrinate you to the liberal progressive communist mindset. I have the equivalent of like 3 degrees, but with none of the indoctrination courses. Saved me a lot of money and time, plus a better GPA cause I would never have actually attempted to listen to any of those bunk courses. Wonder why they do not have courses like Constitutional theory or the like? Yeah, I know why.

Why does the government just not come out and say it, they want to run a communist system, why all the subterfuge?

Just shut up and sit down.

You will be a slave to the system and like it.

Do not make them go Tienanmen on us.

Funniest post today. What classes were meant to "indoctrinate you to the liberal, progressive, communist agenda?"

I'm not too sure about indoctrination, but I know my high school history curriculum was riddled with propaganda. Including that the American Civil war was all over slavery and the southern states were the racist, greedy, redneck bad guys. Then painted Lincoln a hero even though he ordered the slaughter of thousands of innocent people.

Business Administration requirements-

SOC 318-Industry and Society
SOC 359-The Social Psychology of Organization
PSYCH 355-Industrial Social Psychology
PSYCH 357-Psychology of Industrial Relations
POL S 361-Introduction to Public Administration
POL S 362-Administrative Organization and Policy Development
PSYCH 258-Human Factors in Human-Machine Systems
PSYCH 356-Human Performance and Engineering Psychology
PSYCH 245-Industrial Organizational Psychology

Here is a couple requirements for mechanical engineering-

Art 3
Humanities 6
Social Science 6

Yep, gotta have that Art, Humanities and Social Science to understand mechanical engineering right? Yeah, they are not to mold students to a certain thinking huh? Nope, not at all.

Also, the inclusion now in most curriculum of requiring foreign language. Yes, could be helpful, but IMO it makes the furtherance of the globalization endeavor quite clear.

Remember Obama talking about learning a foreign language, funny because of him not knowing a foreign language, unless of course you are talking communist/socialist as a foreign language.

Want more proof? Yeah, thought not. Went to several colleges for your info, and all of them would always push the socialist courses. Sorry, do not need socialist indoctrination, I can study history quite easily on my own.

Sorry about going off topic OP.

Surprised they did not call in the FBI or Homeland Security.

Those damn conservatives are a THREAT to the government don't you know. They actually are but only through knowledge getting out.

Do not want anyone thinking for themselves don't you know?

I still believe more has to be investigated on this matter as a whole considering the many false articles from rightwing websites and youtube videos, but that being unfairly discrimminated against I think some that is shameful. This is a public campus? Our tax money contributes to it? So as far as I can see it not one political group should be discrimminated against.

I will certainly try to get the details of the story from more credible sources but as the story is, it does not look good for college officials. You would figure there would be more tolerance on college grounds?

This comment and your past stances on political issues caught my eye. What difference exactly would it have made if this was a private college? As far as I can see it the vast majority of private colleges around the country a discriminatory so I fail to see your point? These individuals were discrmminated towards on a public funded college but the difference to a private college would be what? In my opinion private colleges would typically discrimminate more against certain groups. There are many instances in the same light as this situation (as claimed thus far) where private colleges discrimminated against individuals on the basis of race, religion and so forth. Its their right as private colleges but at the end of the day they do no different, so I fail to see your point in making this a 'public funded vs private funded' issue?

Thought I would stop in and give their site a link-Young Americans for Freedom

Couple of tweets mentioning the gestapo tactic on their page.

edit to add the link for their article they wrote-Florida YAF Shut Down By Campus Police For Trying To Start a Conservative Club

A snippet from the author

(Lake Worth, FL) On Tuesday September 7, 2010 at around 11:00am one Palm Beach State College (PBSC) student and two Young Americans for Freedom (YAF) members, state chairman Daniel P. NOW I KNOW WHY THEY HAD HERITAGE FOUNDATION MATERIAL HAHAHAHAH

I thought this was a YAL incident, not a YAF incident.

My dumb brain transposed the "L" for the "F"

Yeah, the YAF is total neocon Donald Rumsfeld of supreme ultimate warmongering power that wants perpetual war with the entire world until the American Empire has total dominion over the planet.

I apologize to everyone for my mistake.

Of course, it still doesn't excuse the commie administrators actions. I just want to be clear that I don't support the YAF in any way what-so-ever. This is a simply a free speech issue.

The literature and public life class that I'm currently taking, for one. I fully expect to fail this class since I make a horrible lemming..

In other news, what ever happened to free speech? There's no clause on the first amendment that states free speech only exists if your message has been pre-approved. Or did that change when I wasn't looking?
