'America's Toughest Sheriff' Considers Presidential Bid

CNN

"America's Toughest Sheriff" Joe Arpaio passed on running for governor earlier this year, but the Arizona lawman who has become a national figure for his tough stand on illegal immigration is not closing the door on a presidential run in 2012.

"He enjoys being sheriff, but he has been asked by and urged by so many people, thousands of people call and write or email him each week saying, 'Run for president, run for president,' " Willems said.

Yeah, and why not have Governor Jan Brewer join him on the ticket?

I can only imagine what those two would do to stop, or seriously dent, illegal immigration at our borders.

If the man was to put a capable military force on the borders, complete with AC-130's, all he'd be doing would be following one of the first constitutional mandates that comes before all else:

PROTECT OUR BORDERS, AND DEFEND THE HOMELAND AGAINST FOREIGN INVASIONS OF ANY KIND.

AC-130's! Yep. Let's see how the Mexican drug cartels will respond to being splattered from an invisible, death-from-above war machine 20 miles away!

Well, providing he doesn't prove him self to be some kind of psycho whack-job, he's got my vote.

Heh, lets see 'em swim a river of lead.

As if the rest of the potential Republican line-up is bat# crazy enough already. So let's go down the checklist shall we?

Newt Gingrich: Compared the building of the Mosque to Nazism.

Sarah Palin: Tells a loud mouth racist 'don't retreat, reload'.

Mitt Romney: Attacks 'Obama care' even though its virtually the same health care that he passed as governor of Massachusetts.

John Bolton: Said we should just nuke Chicago and Iran.

Joe Arpaio: Supported Jan Brewers 'papers please' bill and would probably just murder anyone who comes to the border.

What a lovely line up. I can't wait for next autumn, I'm going to get some pop corn and get ready to laugh like I'm watching an Adam Sandler movie!

he'd only get some votes in southern states
instead of a presidential bid he should instead be behind bars

I bet as a group American sherriffs would make better presidents than, say, constitutional lawyers...let alone "community organizers"...

Is Joe already accepting contributions for a presidential bid, so I can send him a check ?

I knew it wouldn't take long for our Constitution haters to come out on this one. As far as im concerned, this is one of the few who could do a good job.

wow pink underwear torture thats a new one please no more i cant take it don't make me wear those pink underwear.
oh wait a minute i washed my whites witha red shirt my bad. living in tents torturecompared to a fema trailer from goverment letts see well i bet the tents don't come with formaldehyde fumes.i dare anyone who doesn't beleive the cartels are as bad as he is saying should cross the border and take a two week vacation in a border town i gurantee it is different from cancun. seriously we let mexicans cross illegally all the time but one boat of 20 or 30 haitians and we would send the navy and coast guard to either turn them back or take them to gitmo then back to haiti

Why not? it is obvious the job is for crooks and criminals now.

And Joe hates the constitution, or he would not support the immigration law.

Vote for Julian Assange!! No, seriously though. If this guy ever becomes president then I am packing my bags and leaving the country in an instant.

Arizona is a police state because of this guy. It's not just about illegal immigration, although he will milk that issue to gain popularity outside the state.

It would be a pity to see the entire country under the rule of this man!

I used to live in the valley for over 7 years, and just moved back to Show Low, waaay up in the mountains. Imagine my surprise to not only see camera's at all the intersections, but also neatly tucked into a stand of pine trees at a 3 way stop!

There is no safe place to pick your nose in Arizona, because somebody is always watching!

take your pick of nasty old psychopaths here in arizona-
mccain-brewer-arpaio- and so many others here in the inmate state.
want to live in a compound and have a string of teenaged brides? move to
northern arizona..want to mine uranium on the grand canyon- let the canadians tear it up..
indian casinos busing in loads of drugged up senior citizens
under the watchful eye of arpaio's private posse.
"i'll put up tents and barb wire from here to mexico"
and border zone-when the hell can we legalize marijuana and hemp..
then the mexicans can stay home and be tranquilo..stop cutting peoples heads off.
which is happening and will happen here eventually. gramma brewer is sort of right.
obviously her head is not a vital organ.
and grampa mccain..when will he ever go away?
and i tell you- if you ever saw any of these people close up- they are creepy..
cindy mccain .. could kill you with one swipe of her nails..
yup- grab your gun and move to arizona. the only thing shocking is a stun gun.

Twenty-five years ago was when I first heard the saying "ARIZONA STATE MOTTO - COME ON VACATION, LEAVE ON PROBATION"...and then the actual convicts had another verse "...and back on violation."

Arizona has always (or for decades, since I've been paying attention, anyways) been an enforcement state...with a way high prison population as a percentage of total population...so I don't think Joe Arpaio himself made Arizona a police state...it's traditional...it was like that before he got there...

Ah, so, could very well be, although when I first started visiting back in the middle 70's after my folks moved here first, I didn't pay attention.

If he is the culmination of those before him, it's scary to think about what other sort of monster could be created out of Arizona in the future.

I am not anti-law enforcement, per-say, but I am anti-evil, and well, Joe is just pure evil!

I bet he would have every white supremacist vote and support if he was serious.

But my thinking he would be a perfect fit for TPTB. They need another puppet with their like views.

I 2nd that motion and this time for real. I can see him kick anybody out that is non-white. He'd bring the USA back to the '50s if he could.
