You are so not RAAF or ex RAAF, or what were you a gh for a week?
The Super Hornet is new and are hardly pathetic, far superior to the original Hornet (not that I'm an expert, but from what I have read), and they are only an interim measure until the JSF arrives.
Um, F-16's, where are they stationed?

By our nearest northern neighbour, do you mean Indonesia or PNG?

Exactly. If a country was to wage war on Australia, they might as well wage war on America, UK and the majority of Europe.

Australia coined the phrase "Shrimps on the Barbie!"

Yes that will go down in history right beside MLK's "I have a dream".

Plus they do have some of the best looking people...

Why thank you!

I heard there are more venomous and poisonous animals in australia than anywhere else in the world? Plus they have killer kangaroos and these dog like dingoes with rabies all over the place.

Why would china want to invade australia anyways??

The Normady style of military invasion is a thing of the past for sure. The invasion by stealth is not. Australia ranks 14th in the world for immigrants entering the country per 1,000 citiczens at 6.23. The fourth largest immigrant population entering Australia is Chinese. If you were to invade another country by stealth, you would have your military in place in the target country assimilated with the population, and also controlling or access to key elements of the economy and infra-structure. Hardware would also be in place from International firms doing business and stockpiling in the target country along with already secured assets from China's buying spree. Since Australia is 89% urban with large partions of the continent dessert, the close proximity of the population would work in favor of the aggressors. The attempted takeover would come from within.

The Chinese have problems of their own to deal with....Australia would be a tough nut to crack with its vast unoccupied spaces and deserts.
The world is allied to Australia...US britain, seato etc...China would fighting a whole pile of other countries if it invaded.

Actually the one time Australia asked for help to protect our mainland we were told there wasn't any troops to spare...

But you are probably right...

BTW, most here call them Prawns, Shrimps are the little suckers

we can blame Hoges for that... he had to abide by the average US term to make the advert - We call 'em prawns.. they call 'em shrimp.

And I've never actually ever seen anyone bbq a prawn.

Snags and chops, etc.. never a prawn.

I'll save the shrimp for the little cups of shrimp cocktail you can get. almost suck them down with a straw.. lol

Meh all of those pale in comparison to the wide Australian Yobbo.

Chuckusatinnie watchinthetellii is their formal name.

Bad luck should you cross one of those after 11pm!

lol, you know, thinking about it..

Maybe it was intentional to say that "our" shrimps are way bigger than yours.
Just a thought..

BTW, I've thrown a few on the BBQ..
To be honest, it was after seeing the adds,

hahaha good point! Everything HAS to be big in the US. I'm sure it's not one of 'those' issues however *cough envy cough*

(I'm gunna get run outta town for that one I know it!)

I'll have to give it a go sometime - been meaning to sort a bbq of late. Might grab some king prawns along with the usual burning meats and have at it. It always just came across to me like making 2 minute noodles on a bbq. Somehow it didnt work.

And you can't really ruin it, there's always a broth to be made in the worst case!

Dude I just googled koala and those creatures look like mini gremlins. Do they really attack in the night and have poison glands?

lol, thats funny..

Most people consider Koalas cute and cuddly..

But they do have sharp claws for climbing trees,
and that make an awful loud graning sound...

But nah, they don't attack and are less than 2' tall...

But watch out for the Big Red Roos. They're 7' tall...
Been known to jump over cars...

How convenient that this story comes out just as promotion for the new Aussie film Tomorrow when the war began is starting as it reaches the movies.

What a joke

Australia has no land based large meat eaters...

I'd be more worried about tigers, bears, mountain lions, etc etc...

Apart from a few deadly snakes, spiders and sea creatures,
we are pretty safe...

Edit: Must be all that Counter-Strike Source that has made me associate "war" with "armed conflict". I agree with others when they say a different kind of War has already been waged - an Economic War. And they are winning.

ETA: Images posted by member below me are funny. I really like number 2

China has no need to go to war with anyone....it's just has to stop producing.

have you seen the things with the title...MADE IN CHINA....

i get the feeling that australia was made in china and all they would have to do is take it back.

It's like Canada....just go to Vancouver and you will see all the short dark haired people...I myself have learned to fit in by learning to speak Mandarin.

Koalas, yep cute and cuddly looking but do't go up a tree to hug one.. it will tear you to shreds in seconds.. their claws are awesome weapons and they don't like humans trying to cuddle them in the wild.. so when here go to a Zoo for your Koala Cuddle Experience... much safer option.

As for Snakes, yep, we got 8 or so of the most venomous and deadly snakes in existence.. we don't eat them now.

Spiders.. well, we got a heap.. from massive Bird-eating ones in the deep rainforests to deadly ones hiding in underground bunkers waiting to bite you, as well as Red Backs that like shady places to make a web... so we check under outdoor seating etc for their webs.. and, we have White Tailed spiders that are small but give a necrotising skin failure to anyone it bites.

Yep I love this sunburnt Country... not scared of snakes or spiders.

Oops, back to the advertised Topic...
