That said, all the comments about 4Chan being a hub for kiddie porn, is bull, in fact as much as they joke around, most of the people on 4Chan take an active stance against it. So much so tot the point where if you post any actual kiddie porn, you can be guaranteed that within about 15 minutes someone will have completely traced your IP, and sent your info to your local police station, they do some weird stuff, but they go far beyond what corner your all shoehorning them into.

They may be sick dudes, but they're always good for a story when things arise.

Tho I do think some of their antics are too over the top - boxxy for instance... annoying, but what anon did was borderline psychopathic.

The community does have sway on the net because of the shier number of members willing to back each other up at any time. sometimes it is used for good, some times for random trolling reasons, its an eclectic community and there are some bad apples .

And i can assure you 100% that the majority of members are well out of their teens and in their mid to late 20's

And as for the CP (child porn) a lot of people don't know this but most of it is bait (there are some sicker people who don't know about the bait that think its ok to post it) but you will see by most of the responses that it is not tolerated and the mods remove any unbaited material as soon as they can find it, the site does work in conjunction with federal police in the apprehension of the perpetrators in some cases. As I said there is some bad apples. There is a way to tell the difference between the baited material and the random posted material which I cannot discuss in a public forum but I can assure you that most of it, around 90 - 95% is federally baited material, and thats about all I can say.

I try NOT to rely on Wiki for ALL my data and worldly info as I think what use would it be if the internet was down ??

It's important to know that 4chan =/= /b/.

Each board has its own little sub-culture, and every board that isn't /b/ pretty much hates /b/, but since /b/ is thousands of times faster than most other boards, it is what gets talked about the most when new folks are trying to learn about 4chan. If 4chan was Earth, think of /b/ as the United States.

As such, the USA =/= the entire world.

You can say it but you are wrong. CP lures out the truly depraved, the old*** that aren't really into CP don't rise up against it because such is "e/b/aumsworld". I'm not /b/ tard or a goon myself, but from a rival.

It might be hard for some of the more mature internet users to understand what's going on, and in 99% of the time you would probably get offended and never go online again.

We're not 15 year olds, but 25-35 with regular jobs and families - it's our way to vent, and have fun. Sometimes things actually happen, like the Australian government going offline due to some malformed packets that happen to come their way after some net neutrality ruling - No idea how that happened.
