This is getting a little crazy. I wonder what's up with all of the exploding oil rigs lately? One would think that after the BP disaster, other companies would be towing the line and doubnle checking their equipment.

With that being said, depedning on the reason for the explosion, it could have been a perfectly normal accident. I know that these things do tend to explode from time to time, though normally we don't hear about them on the news as Brittany Spears and Paris Hilton seem to be far more important. This one could be getting the attention because of the relatively close BP incident. Now ofcourse, if it is sending lobs of oil into the sea, then have something entirely different than a normal oil rig explosion. However, I don't believe the ocean floor to be so deep in the bay there.

Now why in God's name should we suspend drilling in the Gulf? I mean what an idiot Obama is. So what if two GOM rigs exploded in 6mos. Accidents happen. Full speed ahead I say! Drill baby drill! Screw the environment. I can't drive my Suburban on any damned environment.
These frigging tree hugging twits are wrecking this country.

APACHE CORP actually merged with Mariner in April of this year... therefore, they are owners of the rig, I would think...

April... Something else happened in April... Oh, right, the BP Disaster.

Looks like we can thank Glenn Beck and Barack Obama for this one. The damn Christian Mormon conspiracy NWO Truthers are going to want to have more Peace Talks about the Muslim Middle East now. Probably related to that wacko Eco Terrorist Atheist who took over the Discovery Channel building. No thanks to Ron Paul.

Wait, so who do we blame then? Since corporations=people, surely someone must be responsible, right? Otherwise, something must be askew.

What does the constitution say about corporations again, cause I can't seem to find them referenced in my copy??

It's easy to blame republican but the fact is that republican are not in power, democrats are. They are to blame for not enforcing the safety rules.

For one, just because a political party is not in power does not mean that they are sleeping. For two, there is more corporate control of those rigs than political.

Really, two rigs in less than a year?

Come on, this is more than politics...

While the arrival of tar balls this far west is troubling, it doesn’t mean the waters surrounding Marsh Island or Vermilion Bay itself are contaminated. “It doesn’t seem to be in a concentration that will affect crabs and fish or whatever,” Shirley adds. “But since it’s present, that’s the standpoint of Wildlife and Fisheries and the Department of Health, they’re going to air on the side of caution and close it down.”

So with all the discussions about these tar balls in the past months is it possible that they aer going to become an even greater threat than what we originally suspected?

Beyond the pictures of fathers throwing them playfully at sons while romping on the beach and who can forget the Pregnant woman lying on the shore with Tarballs attached to her swimsuit, what do we know about these tar ball once mixed with the deadly and toxic cocktails of corexit to 'make them disappear'?

Are these lethal and explosive ticking time bombs just waiting for a spark to ignite them? remember these are the very same beaches which were shut down and reopened for continuity of tourism...

www.theind.com...

Something caused the unusual explosion and I fear the answers will not be forthcoming, at least not any truth in disclosure.

Ahh edit for speelcheek

Uh oh guys!

I can't wait for the brainwashed democrats/republicans to think this was just another accident.

Or the Government posters to try to convince like wise as well.

Unconfirmed reports said the rig is the Vermilion Oil rig 380, which is owned by Houston-based Mariner Energy and is not believed to be an active well.

The blast occurred around 80 miles south of Vermilion Bay along the central Louisiana coast.

There are currently no sightings of oil in the water.

Please visit the link provided for the complete story.

Skynews

That's rather interesting. Wonder what caused the explosion then?

I have no idea if they are connected, but if there is one thing this site has taught me, it is to NEVER say NEVER!

Found this tidbit about BP's activities this morning. Wonder if removal of the cap had anything to do with this new disaster... P.S. I do a lot of wondering..

BP begins removing cap from Gulf well

HOUSTON (Reuters) – BP Plc said it had begun removing a cap from equipment atop its ruptured Gulf of Mexico oil well on Thursday, the first of several steps in advance of plugging the leak for good.

"We expect that to happen this afternoon," spokesman Scott Dean said.

Let's cut back oil drilling and make all state and government employees who can telecommute. politicians, lobbyists, clerks and other paper pushers.
No car allowance, no gas, no per deim, no private plane trips, plus for the higher ups who have a tendancy to make back room deals you have an electronic paper trail as a bonus.

No, this rig is much closer to land and further away from the previous incident. What is interesting, is the eyewitness report. The explosion was so huge it threw 13 people into the water - a rather powerful blast.
