Obama's new tax on...Rainwater!?
Would President Obama's Environmental Protection Agency really force Americans to pay a tax on "rainwater runoff" from homes and small businesses?

You bet they would. In fact, the EPA, under radical environmentalist Lisa Jackson, is proposing regulations to do just that.

Take a look at the EPA's own Federal Register filing, where the EPA generally describes the initiative it's proposing:

[sarcasm]

Cool you somehow managed to use one thread from a member that has been here for roughly a year, that is only an apprentice contributor, and has only had made eight previous threads to show how all members on ats are idiots!

Nice job!

[/sarcasm]

To the original poster no offense is meant just trying to point out something.

Perhaps you like your water to have manure, oil, and raw sewage in it, but most people don't. Leave it to a group of die-hard Obama haters to take a sane position on public health and twist this into something evil. And they wonder why we look at them like they're crazy

So you assume he is an Obama hater? Has he stated that he was?Not to mention that he could have interpreted the article incorrectly.

But great job!

The EPA is a revenue generation agency.

Its job is to criminalize everything so penalties and fines can be imposed to generate government revenue.

The notion that the EPA somehow prevents pollution is preposterous.

Since private property owners can be sued by other private property owners for polluting someone else's property, it is self-evident that the EPA serves no purpose what-so-ever.

Punishments for pollution can be enacted entirely in civil suits conducted in the private sector by private actors.

The EPA accomplishes nothing that private property rights haven't already taken care of.

Here's an entire lecture series given by professional doctors in economics and environmental science on why government is useless in protecting the environment.

Don't be silly they could just as easily collect on a tax like this as easily as they could collect an oxygen tax.
There would truly be anarchy in the street.
This seems like some more fearmongering to get someone to give a violent response.
This could never pass and if it did there would be piles of dead beaurocrats as well as politicians.

How does this wash with those towns who have banned collection of rainwater?

They can't tax you for being liable one moment then say you can't collect it because it doesnt belong to you in the next.

Eh, who am I kidding, the less sense it makes and the more contradictory it is the more the gov loves it.

Don't some states in americe already have water companies asking for money from anyone that has the rain water tanks. Also it could be a way of stopping the average american from becoming self sufficient cause if you America becomes self sufficient the money the government would get is gone like other things this is all down to revenue raising and screwing the puplic I am very worried that this may one day become a reality here in Australia but it will be water companies that are after the money and claiming it's taking their product all thoughts but could all be true

Well they want to tax air too. Its called the carbon tax or Cap and trade Bill.

Taxing the very fundamentals of life is tyranny at its best.
