At first im thinking yeah yeah seen these, but wow when I first saw the one in the video I thought "thats gotta be a freak" but then when the truck passed by, so obviously a fake. It looks like a model on its way to an amusment park or museum or somthing, maybe they couldnt afford real ones over there, or its a re-creation of some prehistoric giant, but its definetly fake. It should be sitting on its belly not propped up by its legs balancing on two little supports, not to mention the head which is a dead giveaway.

This girl however is the real deal.

Try the Hoax forum , firstly it is a tortoise not a turtle and secondly it's fibreglass .

In the picture you posted... what type of turtle is it? Would love to hear all the details.

Maybe the man made turtle on the truck is being transported to a theme park or something of the sort.

Yea, I would have to say it's fake

The reason? Because it's legs and head are extended on a moving vehicle, do you seriously think that this turtle wouldn't hold up in it's shell?

She's a leatherback, the largest of the sea turtles. She'd weight over 1,500 pounds in the summer. Link to deep sea news

I've been out pretty darn far in the Gulf and have seen many sea turtles but I didn't recognize the one in the picture... after reading the article, that species isn't in my area... very neat and the link you gave was great!

Sorry to be off topic... I tried to send you a comment but you haven't opened it up... just wanted to say thanks!

I am a big fan of Turtles as well, I worked conserving and tagging them for a few years too! Loggerheads though not Leather backs.

They are amazingly beautiful.
