Erekat: Israeli religious figure urging genocide of Palestinians

www.haaretz.com

Chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat on Sunday slammed remarks by the spiritual leader of Israel's leading ultra-Orthodox party, who said the Palestinians should "perish", saying that it was paramount to incitement to genocide.

Erekat called on the Israeli government to denounce the remarks by Israel's former chief rabbi Ovadia Yosef, and to take action against racist remarks by other elected officials. He also criticized Israel for allowing the incident to pass without condemnation.

I mean, what a heck is wrong with some of these guys?

Here you recently had the boss of ADL Abe Foxman and his organisation who Supposely SHOULD be working AGAINST bigotry & racism - taking sides with bigots in the mosque/community center thing:

www.haaretz.com...

Now you have a Israeli religious/spiritual leader calling for Palestinian genocide, and that the evil, bitter enemies of Israel, the Palesinians - should perish from the world.

This is as equally as bad as they once accused Ahmadinejad of saying, when they falsely translated: بايد از صفحه روزگار محو شود to be: 'wipe Israel off the map' in English for propagandistic reasons.

When in reality what Ahmadinejad actually said and the correct translation was: "This regime occupying Jerusalem (een rezhim-e eshghalgar-e qods) must vanish from the page of time."

A.K.A Regime change.

"Ahmadinejad did not say he was going to 'wipe Israel off the map' because no such idiom exists in Persian". Instead, "He did say he hoped its regime, i.e., a Jewish-Zionist state occupying Jerusalem, would collapse."

en.wikipedia.org...

But this statement from Israel's former chief rabbi Ovadia Yosef: "All these evil people should perish from this world ... God should strike them with a plague, them and these Palestinians."

Is certainly not the result of any mistranslations, is it?

When will these guys learn that their own statements and words are actually doing damage to Israel - and is hurting Israel's cause & reputation more, than it is actually helping them? :shk:

Of course we don't need them to tell us their intentions to be able to see their actions. In fact, Israel has made their intentions perfectly clear through their actions. Actions after all, do speak much louder than words and Israel's actions are clearly genocidal in nature.

If Israel or pro-Israel zionists handed out clear plans for a Nazi-like policy of human-domination, with illustrations and all, the American people would never know it, as the American MSM would never touch it and speak out against those who do, leveling the the whole "antisemitic" accusation.

There is no doubt about it that most Israelis see their nation’s survival as being contingent on a constant war of Muslim Attrition.

While many Israelis and Americans and other westerners throughout the world see this too in various guises from being proactive by reacting to things like Islam wants to take over the world, the truth is who this mindset really serves the most are the Military Industrialists, the Bankers and the Oil Companies who’s media companies push this concept through various guises.

Whether it’s a thinly veiled religious crusade sold to mainly conservative Christians in the West, the misrepresentation of initial reactions by the Arab community to how the Zionists kicked the British out of Palestine and reneged on their own agreements with the International community regarding administration in the Palestinian territories, or the misrepresentations of how Palestinians often refuse to just lay down to the thefts of their ancestral lands and being herded into segregated open air prisons deemed as enclaves, the propaganda and how it is sold is designed to play to and be accepted by far too many people who then imagine a benefit to them through these policies of Muslim attrition.

Yet the truth is it does not serve Israel well, as it just continues the very fears the Arab and Islamic world has regarding their long range intentions and ambitions, and it doesn’t serve the United States well and other Western Nations who actually have to carry out the war of Muslim attrition not so much for Israel but the profit of the Military Industrialists, the Oil Companies and the Bankers who conveniently use Israel as an excuse and defense for their own actions.

Zionist Israel though has become a fascist apartheid state bent on genocide and attrition of the Palestinians and Muslims and Arabs at large.

While yes, thanks to Western Military Intervention, Technology and other means of support, these things have created a damn that effectively holds back retaliatory strikes against Israel it at the same time, just keeps creating the conditions that lead to the forces building up and building up behind that damn.

Like a child playing with fire, sooner or later that damn is bound to burst, and I think any nation involved with these things needs to understand ultimately you reap what you sew.

I have no problem with Israel existing, but it needs to exist on the same terms and abide by the same International Laws and conventions it insists every other nation uphold, while it doesn’t.

Otherwise eventually yes, there will be hell to pay.

At least this will probably be covered in the European press.

Those in the US will never know if it's existence, or if they do, it will be one of those one story jobs and never to be talked about again.

Is this a hate crime?

Or does that only count if it is the other way around?

from OP article
Erekat called on Israel "do more about peace and stop spreading hatred" and said Yosef's comments could be placed within the larger context of Israel's "policy against a Palestinian state" such as settlement expansion, home demolitions, among other things.

I can't keep the various parties straight in my head, but the extremists in Israel do seem to have enough of a majority in places of influence in various government bodies to keep Palestinian and Arab home demolition going and Jewish only home building even as the "peace process" goes on.

It is obvious, to any one who cares to look, that "peace-process = ethnic cleansing". If Netanyahu really cared he would go ahead and distance his party from more radical elements even if it means dissolving the government. After all, the Dutch did that over involvement in Afghanistan.

Yeah, one COULD certainly really assume that - but no!

For Netanyahu this is apparently business as usual!

Netanyahu: We can reach a peace that will last for generations

Israel and the Palestinians can secure an enduring peace agreement in Washington - not just a tactical lull in hostilities, prime minister says.

www.haaretz.com...

Yeah sure! would that peace come AFTER the PALESTINIAN GENOCIDE then Mr Netanyahu?

This article about Ovadia Yosef is running on front page of AP of all places

news.yahoo.com...

I'm not going to take sides on this issue, and as one commenter has said, there are more than likely Arab leaders calling for the deaths of Israelis. The real news story is that mainstream media like AP is reporting on this. Why is that?

It is so the Jews can then proclaim that the hateful mainstream media is always being unfair and criticizing them. Make no mistake, this type of headlines will unite the Jewish people under a banner of "persecution" and will convince them that the mainstream media is hateful against Jews (perhaps giving the MSM cover because they are run mostly by Jewish-elite).

That does seem to be the plan. Netanyahu does seem to be following the plan.

What really sucks is that Obama was pushing the "no precondition" talks. The majority of Palestinians favor the "condition" of "stop taking our land." What a farce to talk about a state while the land disappears! Abbas does not represent the majority. His term has expired. No one has the authority to cede away Palestine. That's the Palestinian position I agree with.

Not a big surprise from the extremists in Israel.

Of course that kind of talk represents only a few percents of the zionists in Israel... but still... they have seats in their Knesset.

The bigger problem and more realistic one IMO is Netanyahu, since he's in power.

Netanyahu, in all his love, nominated Lieberman as foreign minister.

Lieberman is kinda like that rabbi, as crazy and racist as him. The difference is that he's in power... right now.

He's a nazi, but from the other side. Not a big surprise that no one want to meet with him.

The article seems to be from Reuters, which seems to try to be fair, they've lost enough reporters after all.

Still, incitement to violence seems to cloud over the issue of land-grab. Land-grab and ethnic cleansing should be top issue.

I don't deny that, and the remarks are obviously wrong and hateful, however, I think the story is not that the rabbi made hateful remarks, the story is that this is front page news. The media shield which normally deflects Jewish criticism is gone, and so now comes the accusations that the media is biased against Israel. On www.aish.com, Alan Dershowitz has an article stating how "there is one Middle East lobby that controls the United States," but it's not AIPAC, it's the Arab lobby! Interestingly they criticize Saudis, I wonder if they will also criticize Elena Kagan for blocking a 9/11 lawsuit to protect the Saudi prince, I'm thinking not since I tried to post that comment and my comment was blocked.

Why would someone turn this around?
Read the article "Ultra Orthodox". Each race has these.
Some Palestinians say its in the quran to kill of everyone who's doesn't believe Allah.
For Americans lets take the KKK that kill minorities.
Each country has its own extremist group no matter how you look at it.

Whether you're are more pissed at Israel flame them because they have extremists, that in my opinion is pretty stupid.

WRONG..... It's mainly that the economies of most major countries are in the dumps as is the mighty "Military-industrial complex"... The world needs a "real good" conflict somewhere so idle plants can once again start pumping out bullets and bombs and all the other high-cost, high-profit paraphernalia that makes war such a profitable business for those who play the game.....

Rav Ovadia Yosef is a very imortant religious figure in Israel and it is not the first time he says racist stuff. So i agree - Israeli officials should speak out against it.
But you guys are simply hilarious. You don't want me to drawn this thread with all the anti-Jewish remarks some very important Muslim clerics said, i hope.
And by the way - there are million and a half Arabs in evil genocidal Israel.
How many Jews are in Gaza? Or in majority of West Bank that is under Palestinian authority? Or in Egypt? Or in Syria? Or in Lebanon? Or in Saudi Arabia?
So all those attempts to blame Israel in genocide (even using poisonous speeches by Jewish fanatics - and sadly important fanatics) while demographics on the ground clearly show the opposite are pretty lame.

There are extremists in every ideology [political or religious], thinking and trying to make it compulsory that every jew has to be an angel is audacious stupidity. If I need to visit any middle eastern country I will always choose Israel over other arab countries.

No, not wrong, right. The "real good" conflict is another "holocaust", where the Jewish people will be told the world wants to kill them, because of "biased" media that shows Rabbis wanting to kill Palestinians (it doesn't make sense, but this article is called anti-semitic even though it is a "semite" being hateful, not really semite, since the palestinians are the real semites, but you get the idea).

So, in other words, people (mostly Jews) are being programmed to think this article is "anti-semitic" (even though it is a Rabbi calling for violence), which will unite the Jews under the banner of persecution, which will build until a new "holocaust" is taking place, and then to stop that holocaust, the mighty military industrial complex will be used to squash the new "Hitler" (most likely Iran or something to that affect).

Unless you understand the Holocaust, you can't possibly begin to understand how it is that the Holocaust story actually leads to genocide.

Case in point: Inglorious Bastards. What's the movie about? Jews killing "Naazis" (w/ racist slurr, kind of like N--ers).

So rather than viewing the Holocaust as something wrong because violence is wrong, instead, it leads to more violence, as in the movie Inglorious bastards, a movie, fiction, yes, but what in politics isn't fiction? Hollywood may be fake, but the push of propaganda behind it is real.
