I usually don't like using ATS to bash people but since it's over Glen Beck I'll tag along.

Driving between TX and CA 6 times this year the only thing that is on the radio on Interstate 40 is conservative talk radio, and I hate it. I hate Sean Hanity, Glen Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and all the rest. They're all incompetent and are out of their minds. Glen Beck doesn't present facts, who presents fallacies. it's funny how Fox is the most watched News station when they manipulate the truth more than anyone else. it kind of says something about our country. I usually only watch or listen to conservative news for entertainment purposes only to watch how much of a child these news anchors make themselves look like.

I think the fact that you are comparing Glenn Beck; a political commentator on a major News network to Jon Stewart; a comedian on a show that follows a skinny guy making racist jokes while watching web videos of dudes gettin' hit in the nuts, is kind-of indicative with whats wrong with the news networks right now.

I've only ever seen a guy with too much drama and an inflated ego, but how does that make what he does wrong?

I've seen this whole topic basically bash him for his flaws but not actually go at what he organizes and does.

He organizes social divide just like he's suppose to, along with everyone else on television and radio.

It's sad that my mother and the rest of my family look up to Beck and take his propaganda as truth. In fact, it pains me like no other. I'm open for others having different political beliefs than me, but Beck is a monster. A true scumbag of the world.

I just wish his fans would wake up...they're good people...they're just brainwashed.

When will they realize this guy is not bringing this country together but instead, dividing us more than any president or politician ever did in American history?

How is it social divide? It's close enough to the original desire of the founding fathers. Granted he's a melodramatic ass. But I mean, if saying what he does is social divide, I think I'd rather be on his side than not.

When dealing with mentally unstable lunatic "my team" morons, the best course of action is not to "extend an olive branch"

Beck and his idiot few are nothing to be feared. They're nothing to be admired.

But if i woke up with my head sewn to the carpet, i wouldn't be more surprised than the day I learned that Glenn Beck was able to convince a few stupid people in this country that he actually gave a damn.

Glenn knows that there is NO SUCH THING AS BAD PUBLICITY simply because most Americans have the attention span of a gnat.

As a Mormon I can assure you that the Church speaks for itself. Glenn Beck is in no way a mouthpiece for the church. Prophecy will come by the power of Spirit and that has nothing to do with a pundit.

I am not a Glenn Beck supporter, however I am very troubled by the lack of tolerance being demonstrated on this web site. I find it very ironic that the liberals are the least tolerant people that are yelling.

I am a independent and consider myself a moderate. But, with all of the Liberal intolerance in this day and age I must admit that I am being pushed to a more conservative philosophy. The conservatives have their problems, but they seem to be more "live and let live" while the liberals seem to want anyone that disagrees with them to be silenced by government.

Just an observation.

Now, if you'd called them 'progressives', you'd be more in line with GlennB.

Remember the era between 1937 and 1944. The 'progressives' (intellectuals, artists, professors, gays and the rest of those who are so lovingly called liberals) were silent then. Perhaps they don't want to wait for the same scenario to repeat itself?

Just a thought.

I really doubt that you're an independant. But a good deal of what's being said against Beck is absolutely true. Are you suggesting that actually saying it there's something wrong?

Like the overpriced gold coins. When Glenn Beck pitched these things, he told his audience that the dollar was going to crash, "100 percent guaranteed hyperinflation like Zimbabwe." People then buy 20 dollars worth of gold for 40 and, for some coins, even 60 dollars.

You seem upset because people actually say this about Beck. And Beck routinely insults and villifies not only Obama, but anyone on the left and often the center. Most of the things listed in this thread about what Beck does are true, and many are well known. But it seems like you want everyone to hush up and not say these things.

You're joking right? Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity, Gordon Liddy and all the rest have a "live and let live" attitude?? All they ever do is slam and villify liberals. That's how they make their money.

The irony with all the Nazi talk from Beck is that if there were a better contemporary example of how that mindset and group-think could come about, it's visible in the displays and mythic grandeur of his show and rallies.

If Hitler had a cable TV show, it would have been much easier to rally the masses.

I just read the entire thread and missed the part where "liberals" were calling for the government to silence Glenn Beck. I saw a lot of harsh criticism, some of it quite tasteless. But no calls for government intervention. You are, however, the second person who I've seen state or imply that liberals want to silence the opposition by means of force (legal or physical). I smell a meme.

I personally think that this isn't about Glenn Beck per se, it's about the attitude being instilled amongst people. I know a lot of people who like Beck, I find his antics slightly kooky and not always correct a lot of the time, but the basic message of revolution IS important. The people who i know that watch Glenn Beck are NOTHING like him. They are normal average people, beginning to question things about the Federal Reserve and the 'banksters' etc. Many people i thought would have never been open to the idea of conspiracy are now coming to ME, wanting to talk about things since I have been into conspiracy for quite a while now...

If it helps some people to wake up who wouldn't normally see the light, then I think that's awesome. It is up to everyone's personal responsibilities inside themselves to discern what is a true message, and what is propaganda, incorrect historical fallacies, and advertisements for gold. Everyone whose anyone knows when the SHTF gold wont matter anyway-food clothing shelter and basic essentials will though.

Vive Le Revolucion!

He does want the GOP in office because he blames liberals and progressives for everything that is wrong with America.

I will post a comment posted by a user which echoes my sentiment.

Something is wrong with these people.

I came of age during the Civil Rights movement. In 1964, an adult black woman couldn't try on a hat in any department store in the industrial midwestern city where I was raised without being escorted out by security. This wasn't the deep South, this was east of Chicago. I once saw a black woman give up her seat on a bus to an elderly white woman who then pulled a hanky out of her purse and gently spread it over the area where the black woman's rear end had been. When the first public schools began to build in pools, no black kids would go in the pools because their parents had told them not to--many white parents were hysterical about the prospect of the white children sharing pool water with blacks and had been phoning the school about it. If a white girl was even rumored to be seeing a black guy in those days she'd get a beating if she was lucky--by a bunch of white guys.

And this was in the North, during my own lifetime.

These people want 'their' country back? Seriously? Just let them try. The words 'over my dead body' spring to mind, and I do mean that. Why live here if we go back to that? It's my country too, it's not 'their' goddamned country.

You believe everything MSM shoves down your throat. I bet you also believe a magic bullet took out Kennedy, just because some main stream tabloid tells you.

No, Beck's PR police has all it's money keeping the truth down. I'm not accusing him of it, I'm just asking questions. Think for your self!

I think you your missing the point. If the GOP end up in office, he will have to change tack when the problems do not magically evaporate.
He has chosen which side of the two headed coin to back. The last thing he needs is for them to fail, he would have to work twice as hard to pin the blame on "progressives".

Republican, Democrat, tea party etc. None of it makes a difference in the end, they all bow to special interest groups.

Exactly what has happened to myself.

When someone becomes president of the United States, I normally shrug off the impact of their accomplishment. Even though Obama had won the election, I really wanted him to reach across the spectrum. Everything seemed to go pretty smooth at first, and then MSNBC, NBC, CBS, ABC, and CNN started to demonize everyone who thinks differently. As a result of their crusade to diminish the Republican party, they made comments that attacked 'everyone across the entire political spectrum'.

Even though I had no interest in the Tea Party movement, I do share some of their sound philosophies. Low taxes, cut spending, smaller government, and individualism. Those are core values in which the majority of this country actually share.

Suddenly, something went wrong. If you think or behave in a certain manner, you are now called a hater, bigot, or something worse. I just don't understand what happened.

When did it become wrong to have a difference in opinion?

I am a Independent who voted for Clinton and Bush, and now I am leaning towards voting for a Libertarian/Conservative. Why? Someone in charge has told me that my philosophies are not normal, and I have to be checked into a mental hospital. Or, they want to put me to death.

Glenn Beck is an opinion columnist who just so happens to share some of my philosophies. Sure, most of what he is doing is for fame and wealth; however, some (not all) of the stuff he says does make sense.

I am a Independent voter who is being pushed by the Democratic Party's behavior to vote for Republicans and Conservatives.

...and, now I see that I am not alone.
