Oh and this was in a Finnish only only?... wasn't that one of the countries who also wanted to give that ahole of castro the nobel Peace Prize?...

The working relationship between the CIa and BinLaden goes back to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. The CIA / US Military supplied weapons and shoulder launched missiles to the Muhajadeen (sp), specifically to counter the Soviet Hind Helicopters (Charlie Wilsons War talk about this / Iran Contra Affair / Col. OI. North - etc).

Bin Laden became disillusioned about the US when the Soviet withdrew and support from the CIA / ETC dried up. It went downhill for Bin Laden and the US when our presence was requested (or however you want to explain our presence) inside Suadia Arabia to act as a deterant to Iraq / Iran influence.

Bin Laden took this as an affront to Islam, having a foreign presence, non muslim, in a country that holds 2 of the most important cities for Islam. Bin Laden became so bad, that eventually Saudia Arabia stripped him of his citizenship and showed him the door. (Bin Laden doesnt need money from the CIA, being his family owns one of the largest construction companies in the Middle East).

Trying to compare Hussein to Bin Laden doesnt quite work that way. Hussein is the leader of a country, and being it was a dictatorship, he is confined pretty much to that country, less he loose control in a coup. Bin Laden is the leader of a group that spans the continents, making it easier for him to move around without detection. Hussein had to run a country, and in order to do this had to be seen by his public. Bin Laden can just issue videos / audios to his followers.

Different setup and mindset all together.

The closest we came to caputring Bin Laden was during the initial invasion of Afghanistan (Toa Bora Operations). The military coordinated with some of the Afghanistan groups that assisted the US. One of those groups allowed Bin Laden to escape the area during a cease fire.

Its one thing to track a Tank division moving from Moscow to Berlin using satelites. Its quite another to overhear a conversation in Khyber Pass while people are drinking cofee.

It was not a secret that Bin Laden was on the CIA payroll back in the day. One of the main issues our intelligence community had was the Torricelli Principle (New Jersey). Sen. Torricelli was able to get Legislation - Torricelli Principle passed that prevented the CIA from dealing with informants / foriegn agencts that were criminals (muderes etc) severely limiting Human Operations. Yet another show of how wrong information, belief in a conpiracy theory that ignores common sense, and failure to apply common sense can go wrong.

If Bin Laden was still on CIA payroll dont you think the current administration would scream that from the rooftops? To continue the assumption that the US Government is still behind some of these attacks / etc is unfounded in my opinion, based on the fact it would of leaked by now.

Washington is more Partisan today, especially with midterms around the corner. Any type of information that they would have found linking the Bush Administration to Bin Laden and the terror attacks would have ended up in a Federal Grand Jury with Holder leading the charge.

Its only a matter of time before Bin Laden is dead. Hell he may be dead as we are speaking with the kidney issues (Dialysis). If that were the case you can bet the terrorist would want to keep that as secret as possible since it would be a huge PR coup for the west.

That is right up there with Time Magazine and their choice for man of the year for 1939. I do find it intresting that Castro is talking about a lot of this stuff now. I never really saw him do this when he was in power. Makes one wonder what he is thinking, and whats influencing that thought process.

Interesting choice of sequence, although it still is in the form of a lobotomy that is citizens "choose" or perhaps "have" no "choice" as to the current length of term that "he" will remain upon his own golden throne. Or will it be a simple case of enlightenment from within that will decapitate what "has" been manipulated over "time" as the only single savior over time. I guess his brother is well within rational thinking and has sensed that the days of subliminal and mind distorting methods are and belong in the past.

That he mentions wikileaks as proof is very interesting! From what I know Osama is mentioned in the war logs reported as hiding in Pakistan. Castro might be old and whatever you think of him he has the DGI at his service and I think he is better informed than most of us. Also people towards the end of their lives tend to tell the truth about something unless it's denial about something they did.

Wouldn't exporting terrorism require an "exported product and/or service"? In which case, OBL would be akin to a brand name, such as Nike or Chiquita...which are also, in a way, exporting terrorism (while reciprocating with shoes and bananas, of course).

It is also my uderstanding, that the nominations do not need to be backed up by any organisations, or individuals in addition to the nominator.


On the subject itself, I'm surprised just how many people dismiss this with the kind of "who cares" attititude. "This is nothing new", "I've known it all along", "Bull#" etc..

Now I'm not saying he's right or wrong, I really don't know.
But what I am saying, is that F. Castro was the "supreme" leader of a country. For decades. A whole country with millions of people.

Now just out of curiosity, how many of you ATS "know-it-alls" have run a whole country between the pressure of two warring superpowers..?

The point I'm trying to make, is that people of his caliber don't say shlt like this too often.. When they do, some serious attention should be paid.

I am sorry but that is wrong. I have written and translated into English the accounts of several political refuges up to a few years ago, and until i moved up north.

I used to do this for free, just to help fellow Cubans and to show politicians in the U.S. what is still happening in Cuba.

Cubans leave Cuba not only because of economic reasons, but because they are oppressed, and forced to follow the socialist/communist ideologies.

There are still many Cubans who are still political prisoners, and new ones are added with each generation as some try to fight the injustices of socialism/communism.

BTW, i think it was another poster who claimed that it was odd castro didn't use the oil spill to bash at the U.S., when in fact he did...

castro NEVER lets any oportunity pass him to bash away at the U.S. and capitalism... that is part of what he lives for, apart from making the life of Cubans a living hell...
