Flags, harder to gain than stars?

Good day mods and members. Since joining this site, I have posted 1,448 times, and recieved 1,003 stars, and 21 flags and let me tell you its been a hoot. Like many , I was rather confused by the coloured bar system which showed members expirience , and was glad when the system was changed, and codified . I have read the thread about the various member status levels, and one thing confuses me.
What am I doing wrong, to get only 21 flags, but over a thousand stars?

I think you need to start more threads if you are the type who is flag collecting.

So THATS the secret. I never really understood what all that nonsense was for. I just like the debate ! It only occured to me about ten mins ago that there was something odd with the figures there lol.

Flags mean quality topic.

So, if your wanting more flags (I hear you can trade em in for cheeseburgers), you need to make high quality relevant threads of interest that people feel compelled to flag as a goodie.

Flags and stars are fool's baubles. They should be consigned to the dustcan.

This is what's wrong with the system! You gave the OP a flag because they are complaining about not having enough. Flags should be given for quality threads or topics not because you want to help out your friends or someone who doesn't have enough.

Flags to me are like little gold stars you get in school, everyone wants them.


I wish they would get rid of flags and stars honestly.

Some want flags some want stars.

Everyone's after the lucky charms.

Some people just like to see the little flag-o-meter turn blue.

I like applause myself.

Some of the prolific members have given most of the moderators a case of the clap......er, gotten applause.

"High quality" is optional, actually. All you need to do is make threads people are interested in. There is a reason certain "low quality" but very popular thread types pop up over and over and over.

If you are the type who just likes to debate, dont worry so much about the flags. Although I did hear a rumor that if your flag bar was full you got a harem full of beautiful/handsome (depending on your gender) virgins when you died.

You are not doing anything wrong.

Stars are for what you contribute to a thread.

Flags are for making a thread that people enjoy, like, or agree with.

If this was like a Monopoly game, we would all be able to trade in a thousand stars for a flag, but sadly, it doesn't work this way on ATS!
