So I know that for many or our friends here on ATS English may be a second lanuage. I have seen a problem on here since day one that I think is mostly perpetrated though by the native speakers. A problem that is in danger of driving me insane. A problem that I see here EVERY single day! Here it is:

I'm going to lose my mind if folks can't start learning this! I understand that this isn't an English studies board or anything but the motto IS deny ignorance. Let's start with one of the most used AND abused abbreviations on this site!

That is all. Now go forth my fellows and spread the good word to all else! Be not affraid anymore to chime in and remind others via u2u or whatever is most prudent.

And remember it's etc not ect for et cetera or you may kill me!

Honestly, does it really matter?

And I see you've made an effort to punctuate and spell correctly.

No doubt you were aware of the irony if you had misspelled a word!

Edit, nope you spelled language wrong.

Ok this made me laugh its 8:30 in the morning where I am and its etc vs ect. really over a small abbreviation. As for the English LANGUAGE, its a commonly misspelled abbreviation. I mix it up all the time, most people understand what I'm saying so its merely a small mix up of letters.

There could be a long-running thread in this.

Next item; can I point out that "to" is a preposition meaning things like "in the direction of"?
Anything done in excess is "too".

Ha, good! Yup, I spelled it wrong. Although it wasn't really that I can't spell it correctly so much as I flubbed the typing. Not quite the same.

Whatever though. I'll leave it so those who want can enjoy the irony!

I stand by my earlier statement though. Learn to abbreviate et cetera correctly!

Oh I will edit to add this though Chadwickus, it wasn't any effort to spell the rest correctly, as if you couldn't tell by my problem with the typing of LANGUAGE, I didn't even proof read!

My point is that if you paid any attention in school at all, it's not that difficult to get your spelling and grammar pretty close!
