Obama Hauls Arizona Before the UN Human Rights Council
www.aipnews.com...

Apparently Barack Obama is not content to make a federal case out of his immigration feud with Arizona; he just made it an international one.

... On November 5, the United States will be examined by a troika of UN bureaucrats from France, Japan, and Cameroon (an oppressive nation which is a member of the Organization of Islamic Conference). This trio will consider three items: Obama’s self-flagellating report, reports written about America by UN tribunals or international governing bodies, and testimony from NGOs with a pronounced anti-American bias. It will also consider “voluntary pledges and commitments made by the State,” such as suspending an Arizona state law.

...Now that Obama is not sure he can prevail in the courts, he has overruled the American people by hauling Arizona and the two-thirds of Americans who support its law before the United Nations.

I don't know what to say about this that can be said in print, but I thought it should be brought to light for anyone who hadn't seen this in the news yet.

What they are going to decide upon for Arizona, and the rest of the U.S. for that matter is anyone's guess.

Does this mean we are officially under "world government" now?

So somewhere in this article it states that Obama is taking Arizona to the UN Human Rights Council? Or am I just going to see more fantasy reporting from the right wing?

Its one thing to handle this matter privately in our own country....its another to bring this before the UN counsel which has NO business in how we run our states here in the US....

Every move this man makes, he shows his hand.......wake up people.....

You've researched this? And you believe Obama has made some kind of accusation or charge against Arizona at the UN?

If that's not enough for you,you can just google it and find something more to your taste.

Do the "left-wingers" really want this? I see it more of an American thing, not a left/right issue.

None of these replies have been posted with a sufficient amount of time passed to have actually read the pdf attached to the article. If I'm wrong, quote it.

It's a nice 29 page read.

95. A recent Arizona law, S.B. 1070, has generated significant attention and debate at home and around the world. The issue is being addressed in a court action that argues that the federal 24 government has the authority to set and enforce immigration law. That action is ongoing; parts of the law are currently enjoined.

96. President Obama remains firmly committed to fixing our broken immigration system, because he recognizes that our ability to innovate, our ties to the world, and our economic prosperity depend on our capacity to welcome and assimilate immigrants. The Administration will continue its efforts to work with the U.S. Congress and affected communities toward this end.

VI. Conclusion

100. The United States views participation in this UPR process as an opportunity to discuss with our citizenry and with fellow members of the Human Rights Council our accomplishments, challenges, and vision for the future on human rights. We welcome observations and 25 recommendations that can help us on that road to a more perfect union. Delivering on human rights has never been easy, but it is work we will continue to undertake with determination, for human rights will always undergird our national identity and define our national aspirations.

While Americans focused on more scintillating news, President Clinton quietly signed a new executive order titled "The Implementation of Human Rights Treaties." The media ignored it and our leaders didn't tell us. Yet we will pay the cost (in freedom as well as dollars) for the creation of a massive government bureaucracy to promote, monitor, and enforce compliance with human rights regulations mandated by the United Nations.

At the first glance, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights sounds good, as do all the intrusive UN human rights treaties. Article 18 upholds "the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion..." Article 19 affirms "the right to freedom of opinion and expression... and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers." But Article 29 states that "these rights and freedoms may in no case be exercised contrary to the purposes and principles of the United Nations." In other words, these "rights" or "freedoms" don't apply to those who would criticize the UN or its policies. Your rights would be conditioned on your compliance. Only if your message supports official ideology are you free to speak it. As Andrei Vishinsky wrote in The Law of the Soviet State, "There can be no place for freedom of speech, press, and so on for the foes of socialism.

There, does it sound better,or worse, knowing it began with Clinton and not King Obama?

They don't call it U.N. for nothing!...

Like,"Un-Rights",the opposite of Freedom.

Edit to add the edit that didn't show up the first time! I forgot to add the link, and also didn't realize how little of the quote would be included. Sorry!

Oh,what the heck, this was just a matter of time. I forget who said it,but "If you're not governed by God,you'll be ruled by tyrants."

You don't have to believe in God to see how things have changed.

P.S.
The point of the quote was this:

But Article 29 states that "these rights and freedoms may in no case be exercised contrary to the purposes and principles of the United Nations." In other words, these "rights" or "freedoms" don't apply to those who would criticize the UN or its policies.

At the risk of being attacked over my reading abilities, could you show me a quote from he article that backs up the title of this thread? I read it and I do not see where Obama actually put this before the UN as an issue they should be dealing with. If you could point that out, thanks. All I see is more mouth jabbering without facts from the typical right wing spinmeisters.

Perhaps you can comprehend it better if it comes from the Huffington Post?

Wake up folks can't you see Obama don't like George Bush people!!!
Ok all kidding aside, is this post a troll or a genuine misunderstanding?
You post a crime against the United States in the guise of some kids blog as fact?
We can all read the article, what we cannot read is some form of proof any of it were legitimate.
Does anyone remember the Gulf media ban, which never really happened?
People believed it was true just because Anderson cooper said so.
Dig deeper folks if you see bad things investigate and see if there is any merit to them.
This post or blog is just an accusation made to sound bad but truly holds no weight in the real world.
If you think I am lying look for yourself, till then I will not worry about it.
Ball is in your court to prove me wrong if you believe I am until then all is empty air.

I read it, and I dont like the Republicans or the Democrats, and I still dont see where there is any substance to the claim that Obama is somehow dragging the US before the UN.

Sounds like more baiting to keep us fighting amongst ourselves if you ask me.

I guess we'll just have to wait on the transperancy coming directly from the white house then!

I don't know what else to look for,and there are too many sites talking about this right now to sift through them all.

Like I said earlier,"what the heck?!"...it's happening,the global government we've seen coming,and now it's here,one little step a time.

Goodnight,America.

#17 is interesting

The United States has a free, thriving, and diverse independent press—a feature that existed before the advent of electronic and digital media and that continues today.

Seems to be saying that "we have newspapers [that we can control] and they are still around despite the Internet [that we can't control]"

I can comprehend it just fine, thanks. I see that the UN has an opinion on it. I still do not see where Obama is taking this to the UN for them to take care of. Can you actually show that?

This title is obviously, and intentionally, misleading.

The actual source is a blog titled "impeachobamacampaign.com". No bias there, right?

No text or wording in the legislation suggests Obama is planning to haul the US into court before the UN. This claim is a fabrication, or "selective interpretation" of the actual text.

The link to the Huffington Post has NOTHING to do with the biased piece in the OP. The title of the Huffington Post article is:

"UN Human Rights Experts Criticize Arizona Immigration Law, Say It Could Violate International Standards".

The 'UN Human Rights Experts' are free to criticize all the want to. Doesn't mean anyone, especially the President, is hauling the US into a UN court. Their opinion is that States, like anything else, have to abide by human rights laws. Duh. Nothing in that article makes any claim about Obama hauling the US in front of the UN.

This farce is just political baiting. "Oh Noes, Fear Obama he's selling us out to the UN!"

#71 is VERY lopsided against whites. No mention of the fact that PBC affects non-Hispanic whites almost exclusively, yet this does not seem to be worth a mention.

None of the things mentioned are as a result of lesser care.
