Jet screaming over Blackpool England

Any one from this area hear the jet just then ? I've never heard a jet scream past like that in my life. It was obviously a fighter jet, and must have been travelling very low. I swear by the sound, an impact was going to follow

I live on the border of Yorkshire and Lancashire and have noticed an increase in the last few months.
They make the sort of ear splitting noise that makes you want to drop everything and stick your fingers in your ears

It's probably because they have their afterburners engaged. Makes a nasty noise (but it depends on the aircraft really). I used to live near an airfield with F16's stationed there.
Sometimes they just fly low at high speed. Makes little children cry really.

[edit] I do not live near Blackpool so I'm not familiar with any increase. Neither in the area I live by the way.
