Hear out the video. That's messed up towards the end where they are trying to provoke him by calling Mohammed a pig. Now most of the people claim these anti-mosque rallies are not behind the screen of bigoted views but this video proves otherwise.

They saw a bearded man who wasn't white and immediately, with zero evidence, jumped to the conclusion he was Muslim and verbally attacked him for it. And you know what, this situation wouldn't be any less disgusting if he was a Muslim. The sad part is these people believe they are doing the right thing. They believe they are protecting this country by actively impeding the rights of others guaranteed to them by the basic tenants this country was built on. This is what happens when news is replaced with entertainment. When experts are replaced with specialized actors non-issues that shouldn't be given a second thought become rocks hurled with eyes closed to drum up the swarm of the ratings base. Real issues aren't discussed as long as the threat of outsiders changing your way of life can be fabricated and exploited for viewership. And it's only been getting worse. Seems like non bigots are doing a wonderful job in promoting what they stand for.

Inconvenient facts?

Saddly. the biggest enemy of intelligent, decent, honorable, constitutional Americans is the other kind of Americans.

Mob mentality. The only thing that is missing is the pitchforks and the ropes. People are so worked up right now that they will jump at anything.

Our leaders have done this to us. They are turning us against each other and its sickening. Americans are like a pit bull in a cage right now. They keep poking us and poking us and now we are ready to attack anyone. I hate to see this. We should be sticking together and keeping our wits about us during these times.

From the video snippet

A man walks through the crowd at the Ground Zero protest and is mistaken as a Muslim. The crowd turns on him and confronts him. The man in the blue hard hat calls him a coward and tries to fight him. The tall man who I think was one of the organizers tried to get between the two men. Later I caught up with the man who's name is Kenny. He is a Union carpenter who works at Ground Zero. We discussed what a scary moment that was for him. I told him that I hoped it did not ruin his day.

I am interested to know how did they know he was a Muslim because of his black color, beard or hat? If that's the case it comes to racial profiling.

Sadly, this doesn't surprise me anymore. The act is despicable and unconscionable, but it's another example of herd mentality that our race is so good at exhibiting these days.

Perhaps the people involved should remember another black carpenter from many years ago. His name was Jesus. (disclaimer - I am not religiously minded in any way. The title just made me think of him)

Cheers
Shane

If there's a positive to this kind of rampant bigotry it's that, historically, these types of horrendous things usually directly preceeded positive changes.

For example the outrages of the fifties and sixites led to the civil rights movement and laws.

I don't think that most Americans have this kind of hate within them for Muslims. Unfortunately fanatical people tend to band together and things like this happen.

I, for one, do not associate myself with this kind of hate and feel badly that, inevitably, people outside of the US will get the impression that all Americans are this blind and bigoted.

Jeez.

No room for other opinions in the fascist America of "those" guys.

They claim they want freedom, too.

Screaming "Mohammad is a pig" at the man was just a way to instigate the situation.
Then they kick him out all together.

He stated he isn't even a Muslim.

We are continuing to move into a very dark place of ignorance at full speed.

He was looking for trouble by being black? That's messed up! Do you not see anything wrong with that video? Your wrong man, that mob was ready to stomp anyone who looked muslim. He should not have been afraid to walk anywhere as an American. An attack on ANY Americans rights is an attack on yours as well.

Looking for trouble?

Give me a break.

Read the Youtube video snippet.
He allegedly WORKS at ground zero.

If true, then he should be allowed to walk to his place of work, even if it is through a group of mindless bigots that don't know where the "ground zero Mosque" is even being built.

Which isn't at "ground zero" at all.

I'd say they don't know their butts from the hole in the ground they claim is sacred.

I don't know whether the fact that he's black had anything to do with this.

I think it's more the beard and the hat which was the reason why some of these ignorant protesters thought he was a Muslim.

Not that that makes it any better.

Equally as disturbing are some of the placards they are holding !

I don't see why any tolerant person would be against this mosque.

That is a pretty Muslim looking hat.

I don't understand people anymore - I always knew there were a lot of "undercover racists" who mumble under their breath and complain to their friends, but I never knew there were so many people willing to take to the streets and publicly state their ignorance.

If only people got so worked up about actual important topics maybe we could actually enact some real change for the better.

This is ridiculous.

Skin color definitely had something to do with it in this case IMO. It may not have been the only reason ill give you that. If it was a white person with a beard and an Under Armor skull cap ,would they have been looked at the same?

Can anybody make out what they were chanting?
"No more ?"

I agree that this group acted like the mobs with torches you used to see in the old black and white movies where they all chased down some guy they saw as bad.

More truth than fiction unfortunately. People really are that easily stirred up; even when the "bad guy", in this case all Muslims, is completely falsely accused.

Wonders what all these people would do if Mahdi showed up today along side of Jesus THEN WHAT?
The ignorance is just disturbing.. Some real crybaby a** racist driven nothing to do but hate muth fos
I am so happy my kids do not have this hatred installed within them.

They are chanting "NO MOSQUE HERE!"

Ironically, there was never an intention to build it there!

I too am really tired of this self rightous intolerance. The US Constitution guarantees freedom of religion and if these unChristlike maniacs can't respect that then they need to get out. Play by the Constitution or leave. Its about time they got some of their own medicine, what goes around comes around

Although I am sure this is probably just a representation of a small and uninformed segment of "the melting pot" (which seems to be sitting on the eye of a gas oven with no flames), I am really praying that this isn't the new face of New York:

How was he put in his place? he was the much bigger man for walking away and that's a fact not an opinion.

I wonder if you will love it when it gets so bad you wont be able to walk anywhere without someone jumping on you?
