democrats claim to be on the side of the working class and trade unions.
...nothing could be further from the truth.
they deceive the common folks into believing that they have much to give them in return for their votes.
the leaders of groups such as the uaw and afl-cio have been bought by these con-artists.
they get the union leaders to downplay the need for strikes and to not take action to fight against their hypocrisy.
the politicians who represent the corporations, and who solicit campaign funds from the c.e.o.'s fattening
on neo-liberalism, will never become champions of workers' rights.
they have never initiated any major movements on any front (economy, antiwar efforts).
the emancipation of the working class must be conquered by the working classes themselves.

and for those of you who do plan on voting for the democrats to get the troops out of iraq... think again.
here is a fine list of military interventions of the u.s. (abroad and at home) under democrat presidents...

Woodrow Wilson (1913 - 21):
"Making the world safe for democracy"

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
1914
Naval
Fight with rebels over Santo Domingo.

COLORADO
1914
Troops
Breaking of miners' strike by Army.

MEXICO
1914-18
Naval, troops
Series of interventions against
nationalists.

HAITI
1914-34
Troops, bombing
19-year occupation after revolts.
[ more ]

their degeneration as even an entity of the left wing in u.s. politics began before
the much boasted roosevelt was out of office in the 1940s.

I understand totally where you're coming from, though I disagree with the analysis that a double standard is implied.

You're right, the Democrats are NOT that far left wing. That's predominantly an invention of the far right wing IMO. The Democrats of today are the leading MODERATE party in my personal estimation by examining the alternatives.

The analysis though that this presents a double standard assumes that to be pro-working class or pro-union, one must be ANTI-business or ANTI-capitalism. Nothing could be further from the truth.

That the Dems aren't as far left as Socialists or Communists...is a given. That they aren't as far right as Republicans...also given.

If you insist on seeing moderation and balance as a double standard, that's your perogative. I see it as an effort to keep what's good about conservatism without sacrificing what could be better via progress.

ok.

so al sharpton and colonel were invented by republicans? bah. libearls cause problems then blame it on conservatives. they take all the good things that conservatives do and say that they themselves did those things. when was the last time you heard a conservative say: "i invented the internet." -Al Gore

somehow every problem in the world is caused by the conservatives in the liberal view point. some how lazy liberals blame there current situation on conservatives. liberals are lazy. they only want things for the collective good, they fear individualism and peoplo who work their asses off to become wealthy. they always want stuff that people who are better off have, and when they cant get that they try to drag those well off people down to their level. i could go on but i wont. gotta go out to dinner here soon.

happy now comrade?

I'd have to agree that the American Democrats are probably closer to the center than the left. Look at Clinton's reccord for proof. If you conservatives want to see real socialism and liberalism look to the European Union and Asia.

The Democrats are centrist on many economic issues, they don't want to take all of the rich's money and give it to the poor, but they don't want to give huge tax breaks to those who can afford to pay more.

Domesic policy is a mixed bag for the Dems, there are some liberals and some centrists, homosexual marrage is a prime example: There are Dems that wholeheartedly support it, while Dems like Kerry favor civil unions.

On International Policy the Dems are very centrist, that stems from the Clinton days, they want trade and defense pacts that favor the US, but they are willing to work with other countries on things like global warming, regional conflicts and health.

All and all it does seem like some Dem-bashing is going on here, but please look at the reccord before you shoot your mouths off.

Blessed Be

For the most part each side does their fair share of lying. But, sometimes the things they promise are part of their "agenda" die because of the majority is against the policy. The government doesn't work in black and white. So if neo-libs, or progressives, say they are for worker protections and worker rights but we don't see it in the policy more than likely its because the majority opinion is against that policy. Their are very few progressives in our government because the people in this country don't vote that way. If you have a problem with the way the country is run then you need to look no further than the people, those that vote and those that don't.

Bottom line, if Sharpton was president we'd still be living in the same america that we are living in with Bush as president. The people don't believe in "collectivism" or what I like to call "community". Their is a spirit of selfishness that was born in the 80's and the policy and the policy makers reflect this decent from morality. "I got mine, get yours." When the reality is that under our economic system few are provided the opportunity to "get their's" and without help from the community (whether federal, state, or local social programs) this country would be a big slum. This is evident in the larger cities that are run by "selfish conservatives". When you have a government of the selfish, you have people working everyday without a livable wage and politicans that make excuses as to why that is allowed to continue. When the people believe in self and not in the welfare of the people in their country you have folk living under bridges and families living out of cars.

Any time ANY national politician (Democrat OR Republican) talks about being "a friend of the working man" or any other such nonsense ("I feel your pain" was a fav of Billy Jeff Clinton's), should be told to just SHUT THE F*** UP!, and then be made to crawl back to their mansion while a minimum wage single mom kicks them in the arse the entire way.

My friend Ivan would rather give to the wealthy corporations that are given far more dollar wise than people who actually need it. The "that's all I care about" is truly shallow and one of the reasons the middle class continues to fall. The uplifting of the lower classes means more money for all of us involved-not the opposite which has many brainwashed.

NOW after a Republican (Roy Moore) is accused, Democrats change their mind about Bill Clinton...

New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, a long-time political ally of Bill and Hillary Clinton, said Thursday the former president should have resigned after his affair with intern Monica Lewinsky was disclosed, according to a report.

Source: nypost.com...

Gillbrand is LYING, but some gullible people will believe her.
