Assange the leaker escaped.

Like a hero he put on a cape,

He fled while he could

Spreading truth like he should,

But now they accuse him of rape!

Just use you're common sense raping a girl when the eyes of the world are watching your every move. Yea, right!!

Now slow down here, let me tell you why

You shouldn't buy into this tabloid lie

The politicians are paying this girl to say

That she was raped, and then that way

They have a reason for tracking down this guy

They better not kill him, or this just won't fly.

"Truth alone will endure, all the rest will be swept away before the tide of time" - Gandhi

These accusations will possibly lead to Assange being wanted for questioning. Assange may not be questioned as he is constantly on the move, so perhaps a warrant will be issued by interpol for his arrest.

If he is arrested, if he is cleared of his charges, by then the US will have issued an arrest warrant for spilling state secrets.

Handed over by the authority of whatever country is holding him for the rape accusations, the rape accusations may serve as a convenient way for Assange to be captured by the US authorities.

In all liklihood, the rape accusations are a smear campaign. Their timing, at a time when the US administration begs of Assange not to release any more dirty secrets, is very suspicious.

Maybe or just maybe you believe everything you see on mainstream media. Why wasn't he accused of raping these '2 women' at the time it supposedly happened?

Why did they wait until he had released some damming evidence against the government to then conveniently turn around and say 'Oh he raped 2 women"? BULLCRAP. I suppose you think 9 11 was committed by 'terrorists' too. The only terrorist being George Bush and his cronies (shadow government). Man alive, when will americans WAKE UP to the bull they are being fed by mainstream media??? in 20 years? 40 years?

WAKE UP

I think they call that a coincidence. It is possible for them to happen and not be labeled a conspiracy.

I'm shocked that are saviour Assange would do something this horrible!

Being accused of rape is way worse than indiscriminately murdering civilians in the Middle East.

(I feel obliged to inform you, this is intended to be sarcasm as many do not seem to pick up on it.)

Seriously though it is entirely within the realms of possibility that he did sexually assault two people.

However I doubt it, I'm sure considering the nature of his work and the overall message he would have learned to keep it in his pants for the greater good. If it does come out as true it will not devalue Wikileaks or the material, only Assange himself.

Of course not everyone will take this view.

yes, timing is everything and this may well be the reason for the charges to be made - so they can pin him down to being in a certain place at a certain time.

wikileaks is a hydra though. it will make them more determined to expose the lies and deception going on in the world.

I believe Interpol has requested recently to operate in the US too. So you may be on to something. This high level cooperation may lead to him being handed over following arrest in Europe.

My advice to him, get in good with the Chinese now.

Who is praising the man? most of us here on ATS just know how the 'powers that be" operate and what lengths they will go to when they have been exposed. As in they usually use the storyline 'Child pornography on his computer' line, or when they murder a whistleblower they report it as "he committed suicide' by shooting himself twice in the head!!! Wake up and smell the roses mate.

A coincidence that is convenient is convenient in itself.

In such a case, a coincidence is not a coincidence in itself, but a marriage of convenience: Julian Assange releases leaks, married to Julian Assange accused of rape.

The former, suddenly comes with the latter.

A coincidence that becomes convenient. When a coincidence becomes convenient, it's chances of being a coincidence tend to be treated with skepticism.

With these charges, I think the release of the insurance file may have just moved a step further.

Unfortunatly, for him to do that would be to strenghten those who accuse Assange of being an anti-US agent, and he would be further accused of being a Chinese agent.

It would be seen as his defection from 'The West' to China. People would further state that the rape accusations were what made him bolt from cover to exposure as a Chinese government tool and etc, etc, etc.

Expressen is a tabloid; No one here has been contacted by Swedish police. Needless to say this will prove hugely distracting. 14 minutes ago via bitly

This could just be a publicity stunt for a tabloid. Are there any Swedish members who know Expressen?

Expressen Wiki

Google translation:

Wikileaks founders arrested for rape

Emanuel Charles Stone: Conspiracy theories will abound

Hi! I'm from Sweden.
Normaly I wouldn't trust Expressen but this time it seems to be correct.
www.aklagare.se...

"Charged in his absence
2010-08-21
On-call prosecutor in Stockholm confirm media reports that foreign nationals arrested in his absence.

The application relates to two separate events, a notification of molestation and a notification of rape. The person is charged in his absence when there is a risk that he might hinder the investigation.

More information can currently not be. On-call prosecutor has no opportunity to give interviews.

If new evidence emerges that can be released, these will be published here."

And how can you be so sure?
I mean it's funny, just because this guy and his Wikileaks is so loved by so many people here, doesn't mean that he is a saint. Everything is possible, right?

I thought people would have learned something from the Catholic sex scandals.
Guess not.

The fact is, he may be guilty or this could be a false accusation but to say he's innocent without even knowing all the facts is moronic.

Pillars of the community, human/civil rights leaders or activists, priests and popes, and spiritual guides have all been found to have committed sexual abuses of men women and children.

I love Wikileaks but I'll wait for the facts before I adamantly say he's innocent.

You know...don't want to inadvertently defend a rapist.

How low have they sunken to do this? I do not believe it..... especially sine it was supposed to happen last week in Sweden, during a press conference...yeah right! as the above poster said: who would be stupid enough to do this when the whole world is watching you, and big GOV, military, intelligence is after you. And anyways, I bet there are enough woman out there who would freely surrender themselves to one of the most BRAVE man in the world:

herald Sun AU

MSN: Julian wanted in Sweden for rape

WIKIPEDIA? WTF ! THIS WAS QUICK TO SHOW UP ON WIKIPEDIA . JULIAN ASSANGE WANTED FOR RAPE

FRANCE 24: JULIAN ASSANGE WANTED FOR RAPE

SKY NEWS

...and the cornerstone on what our justice system is built upon.

Innocent until proven guilty.

I'm not saying he did or didn't commit these 2 acts - but until he gets proven, beyond any reasonable doubt, guilty of these allegations he is innocent in the eyes of the law.

I'd be interested to see how he deals with being questioned.

Given his current predicament with the US government I can understand why he'd not want to be taken into custody but I would also expect him to be fully cooperative with the Swedish authorities to clear his name.

This accusation is so freaking obvious it's laughable.

While I'm open to the VERY SLIM possibility that it's true (since I'm ultimately scientifically minded) I largely and highly DOUBT that the accusations are true. It seems obvious that this is merely a trick to target Assange and get him to come out of the woodwork for questioning on the REAL contempt laid against him by TPTB.

We knew it was just a matter of time before he get accused of something. This is classical leveraging. Dig through the person's past, find something damaging and use it to leverage your target.

When you play with fire you will get burned. I hope this is nothing.
