Back to Communism right now is what we need.

People in the past ranted and raved against communism - forget them.

Communism means helping the commune, which equals all people.

This is what the world needs right now, and this is what all politicians are against, because they are the haves, and they do not want the have nots to storm their citadel.

this just makes me laugh, although i slightly agree that communism was made out to be worse than it actually was (no matter how bad it actually was)

As long as it's not that Stalinist crap, I'm down. But how are you gonna get a global people's revolt going?

Old Cold War joke;
What is the difference between Capitalism and Communism?
Capitalism is about the exploitation of man by man.
With Communism, it's the other way round.

Perhaps you should reflect on why so many eastern European peoples decided they did not like the Communist system.

Here is how you do it - nobody votes in the US, and then what happens?

OK, I know that won't happen, but if enough people get pissed off and don't vote, it might happen.

But if the world is dying and we are not fixing it, don't hold your breath.

I'm of the belief that no particular political ideology is the correct one.

I think we should take the good parts out of each one, to form the best way a society should run.

There are many elements of communism that I like, however, communism alone will always fail, due to the shortcomings of human nature.

No, the beauty about communism is that all people are equal.

That is why the rich people do not want it.

It would create a power vacuum and all kinds of people would see it as a dash for totalitarianism, IMO.

Course, that would give people a pretty good reason to revolt.... So, maybe you are on to something.

Man, I'm for you in the sentiment of wanting true equality and a level playing field...

But, historically, when put into practice communism tended to make a very small group of people extremely powerful and extremely rich.

yeah sure, everyone is equal, i suppose the dictators and emperors of the past were starving just like their people? and they lived in a 2 bedroom house with 15 other people.
*sarcasm*

In Communism there are no leaders, there is just a community.

In a community, people work out what they do.

Simple.

Hence why it failed... You can't have capital in communism. The early movements didn't continue in their revolution, they stagnated. We never saw Communism in full application.

Try reading the 'Socialist sixth of the world' by The Dean of Canterbury.
Bitter sweet, but never the less a beautiful book!

How would you enforce all people being equal without a state?

Yeah, that's what I thought.

First you have to have violence to snatch all property and goods from the people. The end does not justify the means. Then you have to redistribute it equally, which means equal poverty for everyone.

And what if some people do not want equality? Will you execute them because they don't share your idealism? Or send them to work camps?

Isn't stealing wrong to some people?

Just a quick link for anyone here that has never read the communist manifesto you can see the whole thing here It's only a few pages long.

However anti communist a person is I feel that it's hard to disagree with some of the point that Marx makes in this document.

I don't know if communism is the best answer, some poster above mentioned that no idelogy is the best answer, and I agree totally ! Just plain old humans helping others, that's what we need.

Communism is always immediately associated with the name Stalin or some other bad dictator, and let's not forget that out of the five existing communist states today ( Vietnam, Cuba, People's republic of China, Laos and North Korea), the last two known for being '' anti-human rights '' reinforce the idea that communism = dictatorship + no human rights.

Feel free to contradict, it's just the feeling I get I guess.

Peace !

ps : Always remember : '' Some people are more equal than others '' !

Edited for swanky quote. =)

communism in its original intended idea would be a perfect society alas one that is probably impossible to achieve IMO just for the simple fact that there will always be people who are not willing to work for the good of the community yet would still reap the rewards of everybody elses work, i dont know many people who would put up with that for any length of time so while the ideology is a good one it would never work in practice and true communism would be pretty impossible to implement in the first place

I don't think you'd be saying this if you were a Slav or other minority.
